Bunurong Environment Centre reviews
14Used the toilets only. Much needed relief at the time. Very good. And good position with lots of parking. Well thought out. In centre of town.
An excellent place to take kids to explore shells / sea creatures from all around the world. Some great gifts ideas here and the discovery centre is wonderful for school aged children.
Hey, go and see the shell museum. I didn't even know shells had names. So many interesting exhibits for $2
The Bunurong Environment Centre has a good range of books, toys, games and other items for sale. They have an extensive shell museum and they run a series of educational programs for the public during school holiday periods. Bookings are taken through Eventbrite.
I absolutely love the trip to here and especially the experience with the shell museum. After visited the museum, you can also enjoy a walk to the beach. Definitely would like to recommend to whoever loves shell, ocean/sea animals or even for your young children.
Did the Dinosaur Discovery to Eagles Nest tour. Highly recommend it, especially for dinosaur interested kids (and adults!). Mike Cleeland the Palaeontologist who performs the tours is awesome.
Tour starts with an info session and hands on exhibits at the environment centre, then meet at Eagles Nest and walk around looking for dinosaur bones and fossils. Finally a fun rock smashing session looking for fossils at a community park.
Some of our group did find some things both at Eagles Nest and in the rock activity!
Toilets are only next to the environment centre. None at Eagles Nest or community park.
The Shell museum was beautiful and interesting! There was so much to see and the lady at the counter was lovely! Highly recommend for anyone passing through
4 stars because the Bunorong education centre was closed and I was disappointed I didn't get to check it out. The shell museum is great and we were surprised by how large the collection is. My little one absolutely loved it. The shell museum is $2 to enter for everyone over 5.
The Bunurong Environment Centre has a good range of books, toys, games and other items for sale. They have an extensive shell museum and they run a series of educational programs for the public during the Christmas holiday period. Bookings are taken through Eventbrite.
Well worth it to see some shells and other marine life. Activities for kids are available too. When you are in town, spend 30min to visit this small centre.
Best place. They run activities for kids over holidays such as fossil hunting, animal spotting. There's a book shop with essential books on nature incl enviro history, and kids books. There's a kids activity room with dinosaur fossils and a shell museum (see a shell from the venomous animal on earth)! Highly recommend and support their actvities such as conservation, climate change education etc.
This is an amazing collection in Inverloch. There are over 6,000 shells, sea urchins and fossils etc.so beautifully presented. It's well worth the visit and only $2 per person entry fee and free for children under 5.
Review for Dinosaur Dreaming - Dinosaur Discovery Tours.
If you have a budding young paleontologist in the family (or you yourself are one!) then this tour is well worth going to! Mike, the tour guide, is a paleontologist who captures the attention of children and adults alike. He is an enormous wealth of knowledge and is happy to answer all questions. And at $12.50 a person, it's fantastic value for money too.
Since the advertising made a big point of dinosaur dreaming I was disappointed that it is only on at certain times and that there were very few dinosaur fossils on display unless the show is on. The shell Dudley was impressive but it was not the main reason for my visit
