They take an image copy of your credit card, which means that if they have a data leak and there are fraudulent transactions the bank wont cover and you'll be liable personally.

They shouldn't be taking a photocopy of a credit card. If you do hire from them and use a credit card, you'll need to cancel your card and get a new credit card number.

BEWARE, RIPOFF. ** Beware extra CHARGES on your credit card. Hired a truck on Sat morning, returned it following Sunday morning. They charged me an additional day (without advising me). The return time was a bit later than the hire time. I had to phone Budget to get an invoice to find out why the charge was $300 higher. Just billed an extra day! Check your credit card. See their other APPALLING reviews. All about $$$. AVOID. GO ELSEWHERE. I have never received the $300 back!

If it was possible I would give them negative stars the way I was treated was appalling they ruined my work to an astronomical level I was told I had a reservation to pick up a truck and I didn’t once get told that my reservation was canceled and when I got into the rental place the person working wouldn’t give me the time of day or even try to help the situation. I was discriminated against because of how I looked. When I called up the again to confirm my reservation after I had been declined I had been told that I still had a booking and I had to walk back the 4 ks to get rudely dealt with again. They cost me 20,000 dollars and not once apologised

Every person I spoke to at this place was condescending, grumpy and unhelpful.
I'm not sure if they all just hate their lives because it's an awful place to work but I recommend to anyone to avoid their bad energy. I needed to rent a van to get a task done and they made every step of the process an absolute headache.
There are plenty of other van/truck hire competitors that I would recommend over these losers.
Customer service 0/10, price 2/10, processes 0/10, van 3/10.

A three ring circus

I have written a few reviews over a period of time and it seems that a positive review is a bit of an extinct event.
I organized to hire a small truck (car license) from Avis/Budget on Saturday and confirmed only to receive a call the next day to let me know that a vehicle was not available and could I reschedule for Sunday which was ok for me but I should have taken this as an indication of the circus that I was about to be subjected to. I arrived on Sunday to pick up the truck and firstly let me say it was over an hour before I drove away in the truck and that’s from the scheduled time (I arrived early so around an hour and twenty minutes in total). COVID played a comical part in this with the staff asking us to step outside on several occasions because only three people are allowed in the office at once but to our amusement this was a loose and flexible rule. If you have a sense of humor head down there and watch the slapstick movement of vehicles in the car park, vehicles being moved into a parking spot and blocked in only to be moved thirty seconds later, I wish I could make sense of this slapstick movement of vehicles. The administration was as expected (scripted) but inefficient in its execution. Finally our turn came to pick up the truck. I did the inspection/walkaround which was ok and we got to the tailgate lift and the staff member began to demonstrate the operation however he seemed to be having problems with the operation, up and down it went as he fumbled with the controls. I asked him if it was faulty and he confidently said no (why did I believe that!). I also asked does the tailgate unfold automatically for use or do I need to unfold it manually, his answer was a confident yes it is automatic (It unfolds manually). We had problems with the operation of this ^&&*^%$ thing every time we tried to use it. The safety lock was missing so that concerned me. Also note that a small but significant annoyance was that the gate did not have a controller on a lead or remote, we had to squat underneath the back of the truck to operate (what a pain). The Icing on the cake which would normally not be a problem is that the vehicle remote did not work (it was visibly broken) so we had to lock the vehicle manually, I agree it is a small annoyance but hey the circus was pretty comprehensive. Let me finish by saying I have rented for work well over a hundred cars from Avis/Budget always at the Richmond office and not once did I receive anything but five star service, So stay away from Camberwell is my advice.

I was approached by the staff in quite an aggressive way when I returned the truck, accusing me that I didn't fill up the tank as instructed. He kept going on and on about how it is unfair for the next customer and how he had to make additional trip to fill up the tank and will have to charge me extra money for it. The staff didn't end up charging me after I presented him the attached phots which showing the truck was never fully filled in the morning and I actually put in more patrol than I should. No apology was made after the incident and the whole experience was very unpleasant, and the truck was not as clean as it should be with drink spilt near the handbrake.

I recently hired a truck to move furniture inter-state. The service I received from Rick Araujo at Budget Camberwell VIC office was impeccable and professional. The hire over 2 days was good value for money. Look no further than Rick if you need to hire a vehicle, he went above and beyond.

Nissan X-Trial was hired through RACV while car was in getting repaired, Got the car and it was dirty (Camberwell staff barely tried to clean the car) and smelled of smoke, had a huge F1 staff sticker still on front window from previous hire customer. The parcel tray blind was missing (couldn't leave valuables in the boot as would of been visible). Worse yet filled car up $77 petrol on return and got billed $38 for petrol. They are greedy and rude stay away. Budget your staff are rude and you're greedy.

Hired a car for 2 weeks ended having it for 4 weeks. Paid $250 up and when l return it they took out $933 they don't tell they are taking money out your account. Very bad service and they never return your calls at all.

I hired a car via website. Originally I booked a standard car but at the time of pick up car, it was not available, so they upgraded my booking for 4WD for no additional cost. Staff were also helping. All in all satisfied. The car was also new and working well.

Counter service in the Burke road office is very good and friendly. The operater name Suzie gave me a very unfriendly and impatient service through the phone while I call to ask for bond release that take 7-10days.

My husband and I have hired from Budget Camberwell a few times, dealt with the manager there Michael who is always great and gives us a great price! Place is pretty gross but service makes up for it!

Very easy to deal with. Had a minor issue with the car, but the way they handled it was superb. I think when things go wrong it shows the true nature of a team.
