Buchan Caves Reserve Visitor Centre and Ticket Office reviews
76Beautiful historical place. A must visit to explore. But tickets online in advance to avoid disappointment
If you want to enjoy a guided tour, be sure to book beforehand, we did and enjoyed a guided tour thru the Royal Cave.
Due to an overcast day forecast for Lakes Entrance, we headed off to the Buchan Caves.
Note, other than the Caves, there isn't a lot to see and do.
This review is about staff at the visitors center. We were told to park at the visitors center and walk to cave entrance. On arrival at the cave discovered that there was a road going all the way to the cave entrance and a car park. We had a person with disability and a baby with us which we had informed the staff about. How incredibly inconsiderate and uncaring of the staff to not inform us of accessibility options. Really really disgusted at this treatment.
Wow what an amazing cave, definitely the best caves system lve seen. If you want to see every type of stalactites and stalagmite in their varied and astonishing form this place will not dissapoint. Small groups, picnic area, toilets, two separate cave tours and definitely a must for cave enthusiasts.
Beautiful reserve area with camp areas and toilets etc.
Make sure you book in advance as we travelled a fair way and was fully booked so don't miss out on what I'm sure I'd spectacular.
Great Place, book advance on Parks Victoria website so you don't miss out on a Royal and Fairy Caves tour. There's never any tickets if you just turn up at caves to buy them
Very nice rock formations to explore. Guided tour. Can be a bit scary for toddlers as you walk through dark alleys.
Nice little picnic area and camp site adjoining this attraction.
It's simply awesome marvel of nature. We visited caves in mount Gambier as well but these ones are more colourful and much bigger.it's must visit place.
Very disappointing After driving 150km from our accommodation only to be told at the ticket office all cave tours sold out for the day & you must precooked online for cave tour tickets. How are we to know this? Too far to bother coming back, not happy.
Amazing guide and tour! Loved every bit of it! Lot of greenery and lovely scenic views when you drive.
Very educative and informative tour with the rangers! Such an amazing visit in the area, suggesting everyone to go if you’re around the lake entrance.
The only issue is probably that the park should be strict with the age limit to the younger babies as it’s not pleasant for little babies to be the cave and they can be very disappointedly crying echoing through the way in n out.
Absolutely beautiful caves. Went on the Royal Cave and Fairy Cave tour and the guide explain the history of the caves very well. Definitely recommended. Even the surrounding areas are filled with greenery and the air was so fresh. Great for camping and also hiking around the area.
One of the best tour for caves in AU, remember to book online before you go, there are two caves, royal and fairy. Making your booking as early as possible. Otherwise you might just can only visit one cave. The camping site there is recommended as well.
A MUST VISIT. If you are near Brainsdale and going to Narooma, take the afternoon off to visit this amazing natural formations. Best to book your tickets online otherwise might miss a slot.
Worth the trip. We only did the royal cave but wish we went to the fairy cave as well. Take a picnic to enjoy by the river, so peaceful.
Very nice trip to the cave. Caves are unbelievable. Will give feel of some Hollywood fairy tale movies.
The only con is the camping site is too crowded. When we went for 2 days both the day group of 15-20 people playing bollywood songs whole day which was disturbing the peace and silence of the place.
Both the Royal and Fairy caves were beautiful and interesting to see. There are steps and stooping involved in both but were not too difficult.
Tour goes fairly quickly - we enjoyed it. Make sure you arrive at least half hr before your booked tour to allow time to collect tickets and get to the cave entrance as they are past the visitor centre. Photos from Fairy cave
Beautiful place. We camped there for 3 days.absolutely beautiful experience. Powered and unpowered campsite is there. Hot water Showers, toilet and kitchen facilities available. Our kids enjoyed their little ranger programme. Lots of trails available for trekking. Will visit again.
Great life time experience, guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommend others to visit.
