Brown Sugar Cafe reviews
26Popped in for a coffee and something light to eat. Great service, tasty coffee and fresh pastries. We'll be back again soon.
There were lots of restaurants in the area but tried this one. Wasn't disappointed. The food was great. We had steak sandwich, risotto, and big breakfast. Coffee was great as well.
Food was ok to good. Service was friendly but the food took way too long to arrive compared to other places I’ve been, and we all got our food at separate times
Been here off and on over the years but not for awhile-esp since Dan destroyed the city. But went in to CBD for the day on Sunday and we had the BEST lunch, BEST service, and the atmosphere was groovy and felt like we were in Europe. Simple non-fussy menu but lovely comfort food and staff are epic. From the groovy greeter/maitre'd to the waitstaff and till all super nice people. Will be coming back regularly.
Stopped by for breakfast on a Thursday after 9 so not that busy but great service and coffee. I had the chili scrambled eggs which were delicious.
I just got a large skinny flat white. They’re kind and gentle and also serve free water. Sadly they don’t have a bathroom and the coffee was a bit watery for me but has nice jazz music!
Love this place so much we come back every time we visit Melbourne and eat here once a day. Staff and food are amazing. Find the food fresh and the service something that makes it special. Always a smile and a hello with a little laugh. What more could you ask for. By the way, lattes are great.
Brown Sugar has character. I got the Brown Sugar Big Breakfast, and it was solid. Came with heaps of food. Jamie is very friendly and is very open to giving recommendations. I visited from the US, and Brown Sugar gave a warm Melbourne welcome.
Found this hidden little gem by complete accident, staff were very warm and inviting. We had a steak sandwich and vegetable soup, the soup was incredible, full of flavour and just delicious. The steak sandwich was amazing from first bite till the last, if you are walking past definitely stop in.
Every time we visit Melbourne we have to go for coffee / lunch / wine / cake / breakfast at this fantastic little cafe. Not only is the food and wine fantastic but the quality of service is always second to none. Which is quite refreshing compared to many establishments now days. They also cater for allergies which also can be difficult when eating out. Highly recommend!
The lady waitress was really nice until the extremely rude man comes and making stupid comments. They put tables in front of another cafe and made a silly comment when we asked if they are together or not. We just decided to leave there because of his strange attitude. Not worth to give a try
Has to rate as one of the worst lattes I have ever had. Bitter and way too strong. Not for me.
Great little eatery down a lane, lovely staff that are attentive. Excellent coffee, and great food.
Had a wonderful breakfast! Food was divine, top notch service and great coffee to boot. Thoroughly authentic experience, would recommend to all.
A perfect spot for squeezing in a brunch for two in between browsing through Melbourne arcades. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast burger, the zucchini fritters and coffee. Friendly staff and prompt service to boot!
Customer service and the Environment of the cafe is fabulous. The food is alright but there is still room for improvement.
Browsing through the city for a brunch spot and came about this cosy cafe.
Service was impeccable however, the food was average for the high price.
My 'sourdough' bread for the eggs benedict had the texture it was sliced up a day or two ago and the poacheds eggs were slightly over-cooked to my liking. I love it super runny.
The hollandaise sauce was very nice though.
The pancakes substituting for the french toast was a great recommendation from the waitor, although if the menu says it has strawberries i would expect more than 1 strawberry sliced into 4 pieces (this is common for most cafes anyway).
Can't complain about the coffee
I like this place, the service has always been wonderful, it's a great place for lunch, lots of protein options and vegetarian options, plus lots of salads to choose from. I will always come back.
This cafe is just wonderful. I'm in the middle of town and feel like I'm in Paris. Beautiful, friendly staff, fabulous food and wonderful background music.please come into Melbourne town and visit
