Brotherhood of St Laurence reviews
14Quite a big Op shop that has a large range of clothes, books, pictures, decor, homewares etc. Brought sweet little t-shirt for 6 year old and some books.
Bought a lovely knitted blanket, good nick. Great customer service as always. Love that op shop 100% recommend
New managememt has improved the layout and ambience of the store. The staff are friendlier too. They have a great range of homewares, some collectibles, interesting jewellery and great books. The clothing is set up so you can buy tops and pants from $5, but there's a section with better brands and retro stuff as well. Great store and fantastic shopping strip as well!
The clothing at the time I was visiting was/is split into two areas. One area by the counter which has pieces individually marked as they deem them to be of more value, and another area which have untagged pieces set at a price depending on category. I selected an item from the area which have a flat price (a basic dress of a non designer). The assistant had eyed me the whole time I was in the store so knew which area I had been. I started to feel uncomfortable so decided to just pay and get out of there. When I handed her the dress to pay, the assistant looked over it, feeling it, holding it up and saying it really was a beautiful piece and shouldn't have been in the section I found it. She asked me if I removed any tags off it (I was offended she accused me of this) and told me it was too much of a steal to have it for the usual flat price. She then tripled the price and said it was fairer at that price cos it was too nice an item. This is not the first time I've been to this exact store and told the price I thought my item was, should have been higher. The first time even had a price sticker on it. It's such a shame that these gestures are deterring people from coming into their stores by jacking up their prices and also changing their mind on items. I used to donate alot of items to this op shop but I won't be stepping foot in here anymore sorry.
It’s a shame I have to leave such a negative review as the lovely Jan who works here is so wonderful and helpful, but I just walked in to donate a bag full of brand new items and was treated like absolute rubbish by some man who was acting very erratically, who had grey hair and scruffy facial hair. How appalling! Someone really needs to give this man some courses on basic human interaction, customer service, and just some pointers on how to speak to others in a dignified and respectful manner.
I can not believe the level of disrespect I was just subjected to!
Lovely helpful team holding until next day items you love. Fairly priced and a good range of quality items. This team (Steve & Maree?) really stood out with their warmth, can-do and customer service - delightful.
Got to the register to clarify that all the t-shirts/singlets I had were $5 as that's what the sign said (unless otherwise marked) and the lady said that someone must've taken the price tag off because it was a good brand (implying that I had taken it off, to get it for $5). The ladies were then disappointed that there was no hole proving that it had an expensive price on it. Thought they'd be pleased that I got a bargain but clearly not and it's obvious that they are focussed on profit rather than making money for their charity.
Pricing was confusing. Signs with set prices "$5 for tees & singlets" and "$5 for skirts" but then most of the clothing on the racks had a big square tag with a much higher price on it.
It is a lovely place to browse and shop. I have picked up some great things there. Its friendly and plenty of help on hand.
A great shop to browse in. I've bought two items that I don't think had ever been worn for $10 each.
Not a large shop but stacked with lots of stuff. It has a double shop frontage but the surprise is how deep it goes in. Makes for a fascinating time looking around the place. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere.
Huge selection and a very dedicated volunteer staff. Keep up the good wok and keep donating everyone!
Large shop with a good variety of pre-loved goods and some new things. On my two visits to the shop the staff treated me with respect and even gave me a 3 mth warranty on the re-conditioned fridge I bought there. I was happy with the service I got there. Worth a visit!
What a joke of a place! They sell smelly dirty items FOR FAR MORE than brand new! Extremely RUDE staff. They LAUGH IN YOUR FACE when you question an item well over the RRP. Remember those Kel Knight jackets? They want $55! Hahahaha!
The staff are lovely and friendly and never anodes at having to help
Affordable prices unlike some well known charities who charge close to retail.
I now give them all of my op shop clothing.
