Brother Shota reviews
50 If this place ever closes I will die.
I love love their ramen soup and sushi and we make sure to come regularly. Our two year old daughter loves the “Baby Miso” and they even give her some cute plastic Japanese utensils to use. Service can be slow on a busy night but the food is so worth it. Bring your BYO and enjoy the food!
First time there the best Japanese meal I've had. Very fresh and sooo yummy we'll be back
Such a fantastic Japanese restaurant, discovered by chance looking for a restaurant we hadn’t tried nearby, the food was excellent, service very attentive and friendly, and it had a really friendly neighbourhood vibe, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone they visit here.
I had the Gyoza and Ramen which were terrific. Very highly recommended
Great food and service. Was a bit shocked to see a $15 charge for a 750ml bottle of Mineral Water on the bill though. Never paid so much for just mineral water. Wine is pretty pricey to for what is a pretty casual restaurant.
We were walking by on a cold, rainy afternoon, and the thought of a steaming bowl of ramen encouraged us to check the place out. We were not disappointed!
The ramen was rich and beautifully seasoned, the savoury soft boiled egg was on point, and the serving was quite generous.
We also ordered some sides that were quite yummy (dragon sushi roll, and popcorn prawn), and had some warming green tea.
The staff was very friendly and the food came out incredibly quickly (although, to be fair, the place was almost empty at the moment).
We'd be more than happy to come back!
Great food, nice ambience and friendly staff. Prices are on the higher end, usually spend around $200 for two, but the food is consistently great so we don't mind.
I love Brother Shota and have been eating there regularly since they opened. The staff are all lovely and very eager to please. The food is modern Japanese fusion and is fresh, healthy and delicious. Highly recommended.
Every dish we ordered was exceptional with everything being very fresh and tasty. Would highly recommend
Seriously delicious food. There wasn't a single dish I've had there that wasn't outstanding.
I came today for lunch with my best friend. My goodness was the food exceptional! Super tasty food, quick service, very attentive staff. Will definitely be coming back.
Do we like this place? We LOVE it to bits! Dad loves it so much that we come here once or twice a month.
This place can get full really quickly because it's a local favorite and kids-friendly too. We're always amazed at how well-behave the kids are)
The sashimi / nigiris are always fresh and great value. All the fried things are awesome especially the broccoli (seriously). If you want just one thing, then the ramen is yummy and satisfying.
As far as Japanese restaurants go, this place hits that happy sweet spot for elegant enough dining, better-than-comfort food, not-quite izakaya, traditional enough without being solemn, and creative enough without being fusion.
Oh, and they got bubble water on tap)
My favourite Japanese place in melbourne. Service is spot and food delicious. They also split bills which makes thibgs easier when eating out with a small group.
Been here a few times and I can not fault it.
Always have a great time here!
Such great food and everything is so tasty! The service is super lovely, no complaints with this restaurant ️
Service is good! However food is a little disappointing as the crab sushi we ordered was blend. The fried chicken is ok. Ramen was on point. Okonomiyaki was good and unique as it comes in a stick.
We were disappointed with dishes we ordered, even the Sashimi was not prepared in traditional way eg cutting of fish. Prawn Goyza was ok but not hot. Teriyaki crab was over cooked served on liquid soggy salad? Maybe we selected wrong dishes on large menu but we were there early around 5.45pm so not crowded? We both love traditional Japanese food & the art of preparation & quality! Probably will not return which is sad!
This modern style Japanese eatery is a must to go place for some amazing Japanese food! It's cosy (thus, go early or book to avoid disappointment) but family friendly and the staff are really nice too.
Highly recommended, can't wait to go back to try more meals on the menu!
Wow, we got a tip from a local and wasn't disappointed. Every dish a winner and the Sake was also amazing. Will definately return!
Used to be amazing. A one a week must! However the chef, in his infinite wisdom, took the Vege quinoa roll off the menu - don’t mess with the menu that built your reputation. Business 101.
Good food let down by slow an inattentive service.
Unfortunately it seems the staff were working to prioritise pickup and delivery orders instead of those with people dining in.
I dined as part of a table of 7, and plates were slow to be taken away and piled up on the table, water bottles took some time to be replaced.
We were never asked if we needed more drinks after everyone had clearly finished their first ones. We would have ordered more, but alas we were not given the opportunity.
Food was tasty and well presented, Albert Park prices are to be expected. Good for a smaller group I imagine.
I went to dinner at Brother Shota with my family. They have tables outside with umbrellas which was nice on a warm day. There are many different options on the menu. Everyone was able to find a dish they liked. I really enjoyed the tempura battered broccoli.
