Bottlemart Express - Royal Mail Hotel reviews
25 Lovely old style venue.
Meals nice and yummy.
Steak sanga rissoles and mash $18 each.
Stopped off here for lunch on the way home from Swan Hill. Exceptional service and the fish and chips were to die for!
My friend had the rissoles which were amazing. Staff were happy to customise meals as well (replacing mashed potato with chips and salad).
We will be back!
Stayed in Wycheproof for two weeks - had a few meals at the Royal Mail - great pub food - the crumbed lamb chops are the best - sourced from the local butcher - the steaks and other dishes that were tried were also delicious - definitely recommended
Great food and friendly service. We’ve been doing a fisherman’s basket tour of The Wimmera (yes, the irony is intentional) and this was the best one of the whole trip. No more pricey than anywhere else we’ve been this week.
Was passing through stopped for some takeaway drinks and wow I got a shock when the publican said the price. $39 for a 6pk of great northern and 1 stubby of JD. I don't know if it was because I wasn't a local or maybe cos I was a girl and thought he could make up any price. I didn't want to tell him where to go. But I thought it hahahaha
Stopped in along the silo art trail and was pleased to see a half chicken parma available. It was juicy and the chips and salad were great. Super friendly staff and a welcoming vibe.
Wouldn't recommend staying here unless you're okay with:
- no handsoap in the bathrooms, so BYO handsoap;
- no light in the men's toilet or shower, so at night either BYO phone light to the toilet and shower, or toilet/shower with the door open (my partner experienced the 'door open' option while there was a line of two other men waiting for the toilet) ;
- showers that didn't seem sanitary (we didn't expect a nice shower with shared bathrooms but ufortunately the green sealant used in the men's bathroom didn't help the cleanliness appearance) ; and
- milk that was several days out of date (this was complimentary at least).
We informed the owner of the first two points but they seemed indifferent to it and encouraged us to seek other solutions to it.
The reason I give this more than 1 star is that we were provided a room with aircon on a 40C day when we hadn't booked or paid extra for aircon, so were glad for that.
Overall it's a decent place to sleep for a night with a comfortable bed and aircon, but wouldn't recommend staying there for more than one night for the above reasons.
In terms of food the Parma's we had were good, except wouldn't recommend the accompanying salad (wilted garden salad, coleslaw and some mystery spheres which I couldn't work out what they were).
Terry & Coco have always made me
feel at home since i moved to Wyche.
Not many others would give me the time of day or put me out if i was on
fire! Terry did and still does, it means
a lot to me, THANKS T - BONE
The barramundi was fresh but the salad that came with it should not have even been served up. The lettuce was so brown and wilted, it should have been binned. Half the plate was full of this salad. Looked like someone else's leftovers.
Not sure that we visited the same pub as several other reviewers. We had over two hours wait for our food to come from the kitchen. What arrived ranged from "it's not bad", to burned and inedible (the daily special which was ribs). Overall a pretty disappointing experience.
Stoped in there Monday night and was not disappointed! From out of town but were greeted warmly by the lady behind the bar we came to realise very quickly this was how locals and strangers alike were greeted, so lovely to see as this is almost non existent in country pubs now. Were we're told by a friend to try the ongion rings.bloody delicious! 10/10 recommend. The scotch was Cooked to perfection with scollop spuds and vegetables. This pub know who their main audience is, you will not go hungry meal sizes were massive. I'd say a bit of a hidden gem hidden in a country town.
Food is not bad. A bit pricey though. My husband liked his burger it was quite juicy. The rest just standard. The place is very old and needs a good clean. Wont be returning.
Great service - fair dinkum food. Great family environment. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff went above beyond. Lots of smiling faces around the table!
Stopped here on our way to SA, the place was so warm and friendly. We had a kelpie and he was welcomed. The rooms were great very comfortable and cosy. And the food looked amazing.
Great friendly pub, was nice to have a cold beer after a long drive. The very friendly owner offered to open the kitchen, highly recommend you pop in and say hi
Cheers Matt and Jodie
Historical building, facility is a bit dated, but fairly functional.
Pub and resturant at ground floor, food and drinks never gonna fail you.
Biggest reward of staying here is the people. No matter it`s the owner, the waitress, or the other local guests who also enjoyed the food&drinks here, everyone you met will make you feel so welcomed and I can promise you a wonderful night here.
Dropped in for a meal while travelling through. Great place for the kid to have a break, friendly service and the best schnitzel we have had in a very long time. We will definitely be back!
Decent place with all necessities. We paid $60 for a night which included a simple breakfast for next morning. The place was clean, room had a portable air aircon with a big window. Toilets and bathrooms were also pretty clean.
There was in-house cafe and a bar for late dinner and drinks. Only improvement could be to upgrade the building amenities a bit, however at this price it was quite a deal.
Amazing place to stay. Very helpful staff. Absolutely wonderful experience. Highly recommended. Food was lovely and generous portion. Bonus: you will have time for plenty cuddles from Coco the doggie.
A group of us driving back from Mildura, we had 12 people with us and stopped here for a meal. Nice little town. Friendly locals. The meals were humongous, good for the blokes. The kids loved the pizza! They were big too. We had chicken parmas and bangas and mash. Really lovely meal. Service was really friendly. We will be back again next year.
