Bottarga reviews
19Incredible food with amazing flavor profiles. We all enjoyed it so much and will be back again.
The food was amazing. Beautiful friendly staff that knew the menu. Was a great experience and we will return
An extremely pleasant evening, only marred by miserable weather while seated outside.
The French and Italian, female, waitstaff were a refreshing change and an asset to the business.
Six of us celebrating a family occasion, food was creatively presented, delectable with some surprising flavours. Wines recommended to accompany our food choices were ideally suited. Great service, most enjoyable night, will go again
Been here when it was a cafe. Now we experienced Bottarga after they received their chef hat from Good Food. Truly blown away by the food, service, and atmosphere. We loved it and highly recommend it. We each had the two course menu option, and we opted for an appetiser with main, and main with dessert - we recommend this combo to share.
Had the most beautiful meal. Service was incredible. It was all perfect - couldn't fault this restaurant in any way
A great little intimate restaurant in Brighton, super attentive staff and the food was excellent, watching the chef prepare meals in the open kitchen is always interesting to see. The chef made a point to come over to our table to ask how was everything - a nice touch.
A really special night out with wonderful, inventive flavours, fantastic service and good wine. We'll be back.
We had the tasting menu which was delicious. Service was very friendly and accommodating! Highly recommend!
Few experiences in life match the culinary excellence of Bottarga. It’s a place where food is not just cooked but crafted with a level of care and expertise that is simply awe-inspiring.
The toothfish, a standout dish, was a revelation in taste and texture. Expertly prepared, it showcased the perfect balance of flavours, reflecting Bottarga’s commitment to using the finest ingredients. Every bite was a testament to the ability of chef Federico’s ability to create a culinary masterpiece.
Then there was the Wagyu steak, an epitome of culinary luxury. Cooked to perfection, it melted in the mouth, leaving a symphony of rich, savoury flavours that lingered long after the meal ended. This dish alone was worth the visit, demonstrating Bottarga’s unparalleled excellence in both ingredient selection and cooking technique.
Every dish we tried was phenomenal, surpassing my already high expectations. The attention to detail, the blend of flavours, and the sheer quality of the food made our dining experience at Bottarga unforgettable. Somi and the staff managed the floor meticulously - a buzzing restaurant with an incredible atmosphere.
Bottarga in Brighton is not just a restaurant; it’s a destination for anyone who appreciates the art of fine dining. The combination of exquisite food, elegant ambiance, and impeccable service makes it a culinary jewel in Brighton’s dining scene.
10/10
From the moment we walked into this small restaurant we could not fault it. The service was outstanding, knowledge of wine and the food was impeccable, the meals were extraordinary- many thanks to the chef. I would highly recommend this restaurant not only for food but also for an innovative wine list.
Fabulous meal to celebrate my Husbands birthday. Topped off by a little card & strawberry tarts from the Chef. Lovely thought
This is an exceptional restaurant. Both the food and service is top notch. Firstly the bread and home made tomato butter is really nice. The scallops and steak tartare were excellent. We both had the vegetarian tortellini for the main. The flavours were delicious but unfortunately both our pastas were undercooked. We had one of the Mocktails which was Ok but I wouldn't order it again. We would highly recommend we will def return. And we did love this restaurant. The decor is really tasteful and the chairs are super comfy. Just ate here again recently so I've just added the recent pics. On all accounts this exceeded all expectations. One of my fave restaurants in Melbourne. Love going here. The service was impeccable. Cocktails were good. Arancini was mind blowing. As was the steak and scallops
We went to Bottarga for dinner, each of us getting a 3-course which, at $80, was a pretty good value (+$19 for a wagyu main). The potato bread starter was soft and fluffy and the black garlic butter was deliciously smoky. As entrees, the scallop was light and tangy, prawn dumplings (“culurgiones”) were so flavourful with its Thai curry base, and wagyu tartare was the best one with its deliciously unique truffles duck yolks. Main-wise, wagyu eye fillet was so tender served with herby butter, but stuffed chicken with rabbit sausage was heavy. Side fries came with black garlic mayo which had a similar flavour profile as the black garlic butter. For desserts, desert lime was fruity and refreshing with a flavour combo of coconut/white chocolate/raspberry, and tiramisu, served cutely in a terracotta plant pot, was creamy and tasty (and loved the Valrhona choc!). Service was friendly and prompt, though came dessert time it was quite slow.
The best restaurant I have ever been to. Having hospitality experience myself it’s hard not to notice fine details. However could not fault a single thing for the whole service. This is a must for anyone in Melbourne!
10/10 food and service. Could not fault the whole experience from the moment we walked through the door to the very end.
This is the best kept secret, have dined at famous restaurants with $$$ price tag, this honestly trumps all.
We will definitely be returning and recommend to all friends and family, props to the owners and lovely staff!
The food was amazing as was the service. Wine selection was very good. Nice to see wine stored correctly only adding to the professional presentation.
A real gem offering truly top level dining, service and atmosphere, all at very reasonable prices. The restaurant is not too large which has the nice effect of creating a sense of intemacy. The open kitchen area provides an full view of the quiet action taking place there. The service is warm and discrete at the same time.
I had the tasting menu with the wine pairing; a fantastic suite of flavourful and beautifully presented dishes. The chef has created some fantastic items on the meny. The selection of wines was well designed, always complementing the courses.
This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. I will be back soon!
The open kitchen, the quality of the food, the menu selection and a top of the notch service. Not only excellent dishes and wine but a whole culinary experience. The detail and dedication in the kitchen, perfect lighting and good music selection. It can get a bit noisy as it's quite small, but the size is the perfect touch, ensuring a total control in quality and comfort. Highly recommended for a special dinner that we all need from time to time. In 7 years in Australia this was definitely one of my most memorable dinner experiences. Keep up the great work!
