Took my isuzu to this place for an engine noise and smoking from exhaust, almost 3k they charged to replace 2 injectors (yes 2 NOT 4), they are a rip-off also the car is still exactly the same, still noisy and smokes. They give you a vague quote and find excuses like we had to to this and that to charge you more. Avoid at any cost.

I spoke to several people on the phone while trying to source a replacement turbo for a Golf. Everyone was extremely helpful but Carolynne went above and beyond. All the staff seem extremely knowledgeable and I received the part very quickly after ordering.

EDITED original review: Although I had a negative experience, my original review was up for three years+ and I don't think reviews should stay up forever, stuck in time, as a current snapshot of the business. People change, or should at least be given the chance to change. Perhaps they have.

Very happy with the service, from the first time I spoke with Caroline, she is very knowledgeable. I had been to several mechanics who couldn't fix the problems with my pdf. I would highly recommend Bosch car service to anyone.

In 2017 the factory turbo failed around 168,000km & replaced with OEM turbo. The EGR valve bypassed to extend life & ensure this does not repeat TOTAL COST $4143. Interesting actual turbo price $1460 & labour to remove/refit was $700, yet total bill exceed this-final labour was over $1700! And the EGR was not cleaned or replaced at all just by-passed! And the turbo failed just 60,000km later so you be the judge as I outline following when I took the car back July 2020.1. July25 – noticed issue as no power and car will not rev past 3000rpm
2. July27– called Turbo Engineering & dropped off car. Explained symptoms & asked if the EGR may be causing issue since they blocked it. Carolyn replied “was it done electronically? ”. I said “I don’t know, you recommend and did the work"
NOTE– bypass of the EGR valve recommended when turbo replaced 2017 after analysis showed EGR valve was culprit. They advised adjusting ECU setting so engine light will not come on due to this modification. Not sure why it as not changed if faulty.
3. July28– received call from Carolyn advising my turbo has failed turbo float was out by 1-2mm. Recommend for oil analysis by specialist to check for engine failure at cost “roughly $80-90 by a mob in Queensland”. Best case to ensure engine not damaged before considering next step. Carolyn advised they will do a blot test for $20 first & pending result will send sample to Queensland. I agreed to blot test first. Carolyn advised they will call me the next day since it will need to settle overnight
4. July 31 - Carolyn advised oil sample sent to Queensland, I said no-one called me prior to discuss as I did not approve and no final price provided. Carolyn said it was necessary since they thought was good to check.
5. Aug 4 – I called to find result of oil test, told no reply yet and it was very poor form that they too were not updated. I laughed and pointed out I had to continually call them too.
Aug 5 – called for updates, no information
Aug 7 – I called to find out oil test showed no engine damage. Cheapest option was to have 2nd hand turbo fitted. I asked for details and was advised will find out
Aug 14 – waited for 1 week, no calls, so I called up. Cheapest option 2nd hand turbo provided by a Nissan dealer and it had been organised. Turbo $600 plus labour to fit around $650. I asked to give me final price and was told will call me back After discussion with another mechanic for 2nd hand turbo with 60 day warranty for $450, and labour of $450 decided best to retrieve car from Turbo engineering as they are overpriced.
Tues Aug 18 – I organized for tow truck& asked invoice for oil analysis, I was asked to let them know estimate pickup time and company name– called to let them know the company name and pickup between 2-4pm
Checked invoice bill is for $442 expecting between $100-150 for oil analysis and initial fault diagnosis. I called too to justify $442, Apparently they put in dyno, which was not approved. After turbo replaced by mechanic found issue was solenoid and whole thing could be fixed for under $200 since turbo appeared OK. After Covid restrictions eased I took the turbo to Garret that checked and advised boost arm modified & this is not recommended. Potentially causing the turbo float to be out. 2 x Nissan Dealers advised altering ECU or EGR not recommended as other complications can arise, and possible reason why I had no warning lights when solenoid failed. I will now pursue this with authorised organisations

I can’t rate these guys highly enough, would not let anyone else touch my diesel 4wd. They are experts in diesel engines and so thorough.

These guys are the ultimate rip off took my transit van there a couple of years ago due to it not starting turned out it was a blocked fuel filter they charged me $1600 to fix that they also told me that my erg valve was stuffed but no need to fix that as it makes no difference to the power of the engine and its an $850 part, but after going to a transit specialist they laughed at what i had been told as the valve will cut power by 25% they changed it part was $120 not $850 also fuel filter is $78 not the $680 they charged me STAY CLEAR OF THEM THEY ARE A TOTAL RIP OFF AND CLEARLY DONT KNOW WHAT THERE TALKING ABOUT
I can tell you the response from the owner is mostly untrue in there own words they told myself that the fuel filter was $680 they never fixed the erg valve as there stating and in there words quote the little flashing light that squiggling line is your erg valve no need to fix that as it has no effect on the engine performance and it’s an $850 part that is exactly what they told me I since had the erg cable fixed at a cost of $130 and the van had a definite increase in power as l stated before was told by a ford transit specialist these guys obviously don’t know what there talking about yer l waited a few years before submitted this review as l was unaware you could put reviews up in any case make your own mind up they definitely ripped me off and if you read on you will see others were ripped off too my advice is stay away but it’s up to you

Worst experience, charged through the roof, and the car came back with things broken,
And when it was mentioned, i was called a liar who was trying to get things fixed for free.

The worst mechanic experience in Melbourne.
