Find the artists you like off the platform so that you can pay the artists directly. This platform charges more than 20% as their fee, including materials, so it leaves the artist out of pocket on actual materials costs and you either end up paying too much for the job or the artist doesn’t make a living wage.

The tool could be great if the site didn't block communication between artists and clients.
This wasn't the case before and it worked well.
As an artist, everything is blocked, it becomes impossible to respond to customers unless we reveal all our banking information.
Too bad the potential was enormous.

Incredibly unethical platform. The cut they take from artists is exorbitant (and they even take a cut of materials!) as well as being very controlling over communication between artists and customers. If you are looking to hire an artist, contact the artists directly to have a better experience.

Incredible service and very easy to use. Supporting local artists and giving the customer the option for incredibly unique and customisable artworks. We are thrilled with the artwork from our local artist and the team at Book An Artist made it all so easy to navigate their website and receive updates through messaging, just a brilliant service that we recommend very highly and look forward to using again in the future!

I am an artist and have been a member for a while. They are very controlling and won't even let artists communicate privately with potential customers. Everything an artist does with potential customers has to go through BAA or they suspend or cancel your account. They also take 20% of any fees you receive which is fair enough, but they don't let potential commissioners know and so when we tell a potential customer we add the 20% to our fee, the customer usually loses interest.

Sky did a great job at our place. The site was within a fairly tight area and we had specific requests. He managed it all, talked us through it and made the whole experience great.
Also made our courtyard great!
