Bon Ap' Petit Bistro reviews
77Had my 60th celebration in the Little Paris Dining room with 30 guests. Exceeded all expectations, food divine and abundant (Le Feast), selection of French wine & bubbles sensational. Staff and atmosphere all contributed to a memorable experience to remember.
The food was very good, but they were having trouble with their technology so orders got muddled.
My partner ordered mussels and we later heard the waitress tell another table that they had run out of mussels, so we thought we were lucky that we would be getting them, but 20 minutes later they told us the same thing. It was disappointing that they weren't available and strange that they took so long to tell us.
To be fair they took my partner's steak and frites off the bill as a gesture of goodwill.
Despite all this I think we would definitely give it another try because of the quality of the food and the delicious french pinot noir that we had and the staff doing their best inde adverse conditions.
Lots of space indoors, looks deceptively small from the outside. Mostly delicious food. A bit weird that the mousse and crème brûlée was served in huge pots instead of individual serves.
We had our work end of year function at Bob Ap - 25 people seated in the courtyard. Such a lovely atmosphere and the service was superb. Food was amazing and any leftovers boxed up for us to enjoy at home. Would highly recommend an intimate dinner or larger celebration here. A really excellent French Restaurant in a great location.
This is a gem in Fitzroy, French fare that doesn't cost the earth. Good size portions and impeccable presented dishes. Service is very prompt and great wine list.
Second visit en famille to celebrate a birthday. Food was excellent just like the first visit. Service as expected in a fine restaurant without being pretentious. Definitely value for money. We'll be back.
The snail has no flavor, the blushy lady stinks with fishy smell (may be the use of low quality egg), and the fish of the day is really greasy. Very disappointed
Such a lovely bistro with serious French vibe and fabulous fare. French onion soup - so good, and their mussels and gnocchi super tasty.
As a non-meat eater French restaurants aren't usually my first choice in Melbourne but this year I celebrated my birthday at Bon Ap'Petit Bistro with my parents. I enjoyed a delicious vegetarian 2 course meal, my Mum said the mussels were the best she had ever had and my Dad enjoyed the charcuterie. We all walked away happy with our choices.
Great service, lovely ambience and the food was delicious. The French rose served complemented our meals beautifully. I love the idea of a set price for the number of courses you choose. Will definitely be back.

Looking for an affordable French Bistro? You will certainly love this place in Fitzroy. Their 2-course dinner was $50pp and it came with entree/main or main/dessert. We started with the grilled squid and escargots! Both were flavourful! I dipped my bread in the garlic butter and it was heavenly the steak was perfectly cooked. The lamb was tender and succulent. Duck was not bad but it was a bit gamy for my liking. I enjoyed the crème brûlée as it was silky and not too sweet. The chocolate mousse tasted great but too heavy and rich to end the meal. Overall, service was friendly, their food was lovely and reasonably priced.
A true find, this little gem of a French restaurant. Loved the food, the service, and the atmosphere. Very memorable!
My brother took me out for my birthday. The (eye fillet) steak was the best that I have ever had. Lovely dark chocolate mousse. Earlier I enjoyed snails for the first time. Staff were friendly and without pretence, made us feel comfortable.
Awarded best mussels dish of the universe. Great value, relaxed vibe! The most authentic French bistro in Melbourne.
We came in for dinner with a child. The waitstaff were very knowledgeable and incredibly welcoming. They made my son feel welcome and they created such a lovely atmosphere for us. The food was absolutely amazing. The beef cheek my partner had just melted. And my favourite the escargot was beautifully presented and definitely a highlight. Highly recommend.
Amazing service here. If you ask to have hot drinks brought concurrently with dessert they remember and get it right. Excellent and informative answers to our questions when we didn't know about the dishes on the menu. Beautiful semi outdoor area out back. Food was incredible! Thanks so much.
Great food, fabulous service, a really nice atmosphere all made for a very enjoyable dining experience.
Amazing food and great service. Will definitely come back to try other menu items. We had the escargot, leek, eye fillet, duck and creme brulee, would recommend to try all! Duck and steak were amazing and creme brulee was so silky smooth
A wonderful neighbourhood restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and delicious, authentic French food! The menu has lots of lovely options that are great value for money. It's always a great sign when both the staff and majority of patrons are French in a French restaurant - highly recommend visiting Bon Ap' Petit Bistro
Amazing food, delectable and beautiful nuisance in the flavours. It is like being in Paris without having to pay for the plane ticket. Very friendly staff!
