Bogong reviews
75 Premier place to go for adventure equipment. Shoe sizes whilst listed avaliable online weren’t available in store. The storage system of their shoe box inventory is clunky, awkward and slow to retrieve - inherent nature of a limited space. Shoe lady’s knowledge when tested would be considered average, along with her demeanour. Great range of products when stocked. Prices can usually be found cheaper elsewhere, however good general service and tangible viewing of item (s) is invaluable to the more serious of customer. 3 stars.
Edit: 2024: made a warranty claim on a faulty sleeping mat. The item was processed and a replacement was mailed out to us no problem. Good experience with this. Three stars to four in the edit.
The worker who helped me find the right bouldering shoe was so knowledgeable and encouraging. Definitely will be coming here for all my climbing gear
You will find anything relayed to mountaineering/outdoors/climbing here. The front desk staff helped me almost instantly and found a climbing shoe that fit within 5 minutes.
Went in today to buy some boots. Gerhart was amazingly helpful and I got not only the boots I was after, but also some tips on how best to use them on different inclines.
Shopping and browsing in this store has always made me feel uneasy. The guy handling climbing gear is terse and uninviting whilst other staff have an awkward snootiness about them. There is next to nothing in the way of budget items for the average hiker, making it feel a bit boutique.
I walked in one day with the intention of purchasing $1000 worth of mountaineering boots only to be ignored for a good half hour, then told they don't have the size anyway. I've since taken my business to Climbing Anchors and Wild Earth who are fantastic.
Shannon was terrific, helped my partner and decide on a pair of hiking shoes and running us through the merits of each pair she choose for us to try on. Thankyou for your excellent service!
Great team of people that work at Bogong. Every staff member have different knowledge and skills. Special shoutout to HP. I was very lucky to be looked after by him. Very in depth advice and recommendations. Thanks guys
Excellent range of outdoor clothing and gear. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Backcountry ski gear and climbing gear too.
I can't thank bogong enough for the helpful service + advice i received ahead of a recent 9-day supported walk on the larapinta trail, my first day-to-day walking experience (at 70) + i especially appreciated the support for my decision to buy la sportiva hiking books, which were perfectly fitted + kept my feet blister-free.thank you, bogong!
This is a great place to get your outdoor gear.
It is difficult at times to distract staff from the conversations amongst themselves to get service.
Staff are generally knowledgeable about the products available and what will best suit your needs.
Great customer service! Matilda was so helpful in finding us the perfect hiking shoes. We’ve always had great experiences with Bogong and highly recommend them.
Thanks Matilda!
While I had to wait a while as I arrived in the middle of the after-work rush, as usual I received very good, very informative assistance. Their fitting of boots is first class. They have an excellent range of good quality gear.
One stop hiking shop with all the gear and super experienced staff. Great rental service too if you need to hire gear.
Shopping even for camping/hiking gear presents its challenges for me (though I live for the wilderness experiences). Bogong removed all the pain from the process, proving excellent in every way: helpful, informative, efficient, patient and competitively priced. Thanks, guys (generically meant) —greatly appreciated!
Great range of house and kitchenware, hiking and miscellaneous products. Perfect for getting a nice gift.
Was stepping with one foot in the 'staff only area' because the door was open, i heard someone was there and i needed to ask a question about which tent to buy (there was no one from the staff in the customer area) The guy in there reacted like i just insulted his mother or something. Almost looked like he was gonna call the security if i would be in there with one foot for a second longer. Complete lack of empathy and by far the worst and strangest customer service i ever experienced. Maybe if he put his headphones off he would have heard what i said to him but he didnt care what so ever. Definitely will not come here again.
Cheers
Great range but more expensive than some other stores. The staff are really great, especially Emily was such a legend today - helped us with everything and was really kind!
These guys are super helpful and know their stuff. They recently helped me with buying my first pair of crampons. A huge variety of outdoor gear. A great place to shop.
I really appreciated the staff's effort in helping me to pick the right pair of climbing shoes for me, and for having my best interest at heart.
