Great little pub, excellent food, interesting wine list including selection of aged Aussie reds, friendly service and general vibe.

Bobbie Peels is a pub located in North Melbourne, with its name It is brought to you by the same team as Small Print, Rusty’s Sandwich Bar, Burnley Brewing.
The iconic 113 year old building has had many previous lives, originally the Robbie Peels hotel. It has been renovated whilst still keeping its character and gives a retro vibe, paired with some fantastic 70’s music. It boasts an outdoor courtyard and multiple different styles of seating, so wether you’re coming with a group, a date or even solo, there is somewhere comfortable for you. There is also a function space upstairs.
The bar stocks an array of wines from old/aged classics to modern natural, skin contact and boutiques, as well as independent and craft beers and spirits. I had the Negroni, which was textbook perfect. Head Chef Adam Powell runs the kitchen, with a menu that continually fluctuates based on what’s fresh at the Queen Victoria Market up the road.
My favourite dish was the Mussels, although this was technically a starter it was very generous and packed with flavour. Even the bread was delicious and soaked up all of the broth, and if my intrusive thoughts had their way I would’ve sipped it all straight from the bowl.
The Lamb Shoulder had a very strong flavoured sauce, I would’ve loved it to be more tender and falling apart but the mash and beans were perfect. The handmade pasta was meant to be Paccheri but it wasn’t? The pasta unfortunately was overcooked and too soft. Both dishes were giving homely, winter, comfort food. The Hand Cut Chips impressed on portion size and taste however weren’t at all crisp.
Open around a year now, with some friendly and humble staff. We definitely see potential and will be back again to try more of the menu, which will be having a bit of an update in a few weeks! Great value for money too, as the portions here are large!

Amazing atmosphere. Staff are very attentive and kind. Food is delicious. Wonderful spot to catch up with friends as well as hide out and have a cute intimate date! Cannot fault the place, will be back!
Love popping in to grab a feed and get a little bit sloshed at Bobby Peels. It’s been through a few iterations over the last few years, and I have to say that in its current form, it’s a cracker of a joint.
Best service in Melbourne - amazing - thank you so much for having us!
The deal.
This is a typical CBD type pub, meaning its on the swanky side with a restaurantee kind of feel. The clientele looked like academics - which makes sense since it's close to Melbourne uni. Low light, chill music - good safe place for a date or a few drinks with the fam.
The good.
The guys that work there are great - exceptional service, friendly, helpful. The music is exceptional - like low key jazz but not the type you don't like. Great lighting, very attractive decor, and they have a rooftop area.
The meh.
The food was really good if you're not from here, but I would say average for Melbourne (not as good as somewhere like The Flying Duck). Still good though. And.the beer selection is okay, not great, not bad. (need a a couple of crafties that aren't boring IPA etc imho).
A cosy and atmospheric pub with fab food and even better wine, Bobby Peel’s is a delightful place to spend an evening catching up with old friends on a cold Melbourne winter’s night. Thanks BP for a great night. We will be back!
Just had dinner with a couple of friends and we were all blown away by the service. Adam the chef came out, introduced himself and offered to adapt anything on the menu to my dietary needs after hearing I was a bit limited at the moment. Wow! That’s never happened. What a delight he is and so are the rest of the team there. Friendly, down to earth and nothings a bother to them. Food was gorgeous. Already can’t wait to return.
Stopped in here for a Friday work lunch and was super excited by the new menu. Excellent wine selection by the glass and very tasty food. Friendly service. Will be back for sure
An absolute beauty! Ordered a couple of small plates to share (calamari, prawn dish + a lamb dish) and *had* to go back for more! By that I mean the food was so perfectly cooked and delicious we needed more of it. Ordered the pappardelle and the ribbons of pasta were silky smooth, very moreish!
We will be returning!
We were expecting pub grub. What we got was amazing. Stunning local mussels and home made bread, barramundi with celeriac and gorgeous rosemary potatoes matched by a stunning wine list. God if we were locals we would be here once a week. Forgot to mention the fabulous down to earth service.
Great tunes.stumbled across this while walking.the staff were friendly and happy to give us a sample of the craft beer.before we decided.oh the food! The fresh made pasta was fantastic.what a great choice of hangout for two hours.
Yummy food! There is a selection of pasta, meat and seafood. My kids loved the chips. I enjoyed the variety of beers on tap. We will be back Monday so I'll add pics then.
Don't make a reservation there. We have got ours approved. Show up there and they were closing and never called us.
Went to this pub in the broadsheet reccomendation of hand made pasta (and it was close to another venue we were going to after). Was not disappointed. Cosy and inviting with friendly staff and the pasta did not disappoint. I had the squid pasta which was amazing. Will definitely come back and spend more time (and money here)
Beautifully presented venue. Great vibes, great drinks, great service.
Definitely worth a visit. Hand made pasta too!
Upon entering Bobbie Peels, the first thing that struck me was the atmosphere. The venue is dark and moody, with great lighting that sets the perfect tone for a night out. The design of the bar is spot on, with a cozy and inviting vibe that immediately draws you in.
As for the food, I had the carbonara and it was pretty good. The menu is extensive and there's something for everyone. My friends also enjoyed their meals, and we all left satisfied.
One highlight of the night was the Victorian whiskey that I was recommended. It was peaty and complex, with a depth of flavor that really impressed me. I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you're a fan of whiskey.
All in all, Bobbie Peels is a great spot for a night out. The food is good, the drinks are even better, and the atmosphere is spot on. If you're in the mood for a cozy and laid-back evening, this is the place to be.
Beautiful pub, excellent food and good beers. I loved how 'dark' and cosy it was on the inside. Perfect pub for small groups or a place to hide away with a beer and a book! The courtyard is dog friendly too which is ace and had heaters so we all stayed warm.
Nice setup, good service, alright food and good drinks. Went to a birthday in a private function room which was nice. However the music was a little too loud even after asking for it to be turned down.
Came here as a group of 8 prior to a show at the fringe festival. Drinks were good but found the food average.
