Black Vice Café & Roastery reviews
43This place has a lovely ambiance, there was a mix up with our order and our food was given to another table, however Lachlan was absolutely amazing, very courteous and extremely attentive in ensuring we were well looked after whilst we waited for our food to be re made. Lachlan is a fine example of 10/10 customer service and empathy. Although we had a little mishap we will definitely return due to their high standard of handling this unfortunate situation. I would also like to add that the food is not only made well, you can tell as soon as it gets to you that they use fresh and high quality ingredients. The coffee was absolutely fantastic too! For people who are overly picky in bringing down a good business perhaps it’s best to cook at home.
Coffee was ok, mid range beans but well made. Food was a bit odd. The chicken Benedict had very little to do with eggs Benedict in the traditional sense.
The coffee is top-notch, with a wide selection of single-origin and blended options. The brunch menu is delicious, and I highly recommend trying the raspberry pistachio cake—it's out of this world! The staff are friendly, and the modern industrial ambiance adds to the overall experience. Definitely a 5-star gem! Recommended.
Love this little place, its my go to coffee supplier, good food and amazingly friendly staff every time!
Very disappointed with the lack of flexibility with the menu considering they have on it build your own. Not too hard to leave off the avocado you’d think but no can’t do that and no can’t add a sprinkle of dukha on your eggs. My waitress was amazing and very embarrassed with the kitchens attitude. 10am sitting and not busy. Table of 4 won’t be back especially when the manager tries to blame the waitress. NOT IMPRESSED
First time at this café. Had meaning to go after reading all the positive reviews plus any place that roasts coffee always piques my interest.
I had the blueberry hot cakes and their Colombian single origin Maria Lopez. Can't fault either. The staff are great and the atmosphere is on point.
No need to put up with traffic or public transport to get into a Brunswick or Collingwood café when you have a better menu and vibe in the tranquility of Hurstbridge.
Very impressed with the customer service we received today. We popped in for a bite on our motorbike ride, and got looked after extremely well. This place will be on our list more often now!
Serves great coffee with many varieties offered. The soy hot chocolate is good too. The Lindt Chocolate brownie is super chocolaty and not too sweet and they do a good range of toasted sandwiches as well as meals. Very cycle friendly destination.
This place is awesome! Great service, very fast and delicious food. Best cold brew I’ve ever tried!
Worst coffee experience and management I have ever experienced.
Ordered a skinny latte to have with my breakfast which came out Luke warm at best. I asked the lovely waitress to take it back and she offered to get it remade extra hot. I said I don’t want an extra hot coffee, just one at normal temperature to which she replied no worries.
The next coffee came out which was so hot it burnt my tongue. The waitress asked if the coffee was better to which I replied no, that it had burnt my tongue. She apologised and said she would take it off the bill.
I went in to pay when we were finished and the waitress apologised again and took the coffee off the bill which I thanked her for.
Then when I was leaving, the owner, who is the barista, said to another waitress loud enough for me to hear, that woman sent her coffee back because it was only warm so I sent her out an extra hot latte. I turned and said I didn’t order an extra hot coffee and they just both put their heads down.
I am so utterly disappointed in his attitude and the way he dealt with the situation, this had become our favourite weekend brekky spot and we had also brought a lot of our friends and family to have their generally great coffee but after this experience we definitely will not be back.
I go for the coffee menu of which there is 10 or so varieties on offer but the food menu looks ok. Understand that this is speciality coffee so expect to pay a little extra and if you wish to enjoy flavours, Black is best. Worth a visit if you enjoy coffee.
Interesting experience here. Lovely store that roasts its own coffee with very friendly staff. Unfortunately, none of the coffee (at least to me) tastes like coffee. To put it another way, this is craft beer to a VB drinker.
As it's super fancy coffee from around the world it's appropriately expensive. So if your palate is firmly in the realm of standard coffee maybe grab a beer here instead.
I had been coming to this place for about a year but the service was so terrible, always messing up orders and the coffee and the food was very very average. Used to be good but sadly has lost its touch!
Great service, great food, plenty of parking.
Coffee was really good and brewed to perfection.
We had a great time at Black Vice. We sat outside with our dogs, warmed by a gas heater and we were very cosy. The service was great, the food was great and the coffee was especially great. They roast their own coffee at Black Vice and have an amazing selection to choose from including some unusual flavours. Going inside to pay, we could feel the great atmosphere and we look forward to sitting inside to experience this next time.
Quite busy for a Sunday. Plenty of seating inside and outside, and the menu allows for plenty of Vegan, vegetarian with some protein options.
Wow Dog friendly under cover seating
Black Vice is well worth a regular visit if you live within, say. 1,000 kilometres. I have found the food to be fantastic - every time - and the staff to be super knowledgeable, efficient and friendly - every time. Add a beautiful fitout, location and passion for coffees that is very rare (including an extensive and evolving coffee menu), and you're every chance of spending a lot of time here!
Coffee is the star here. Choices of coffee on offer is exceptional. We also tried burger and miso glazed eggplant with wild rice. Burger was good but eggplant was disappointing. The eggplant tasted undercooked and had raw taste. Also the idea of sweet miso didn’t go well for me. But will want to try their other dishes which looks interesting.
If you're after a coffee melbourne is famous for stop here! These guys are true coffee connoisseurs, I highly recommend a pour over, best coffee I've had hands down. The food is also fantastic, exceptional service and it's a great escape out of the suburbs.
Great place to stop for coffee and cake. They even have a bike rack that can accommodate a good number of bikes.
