Best bakery in st kilda! They havea really mellow atmosphere, great coffee and really really good cakes! Interior design is clean, minimal, created in 2045.10/10

Renowned for the watermelon cake, it still taste so fresh and delicious every time. It's a bit pricey for a slice of cake but worth trying if you haven't already.

Divine. So yum. The cinnamon chocolate swirl was so incredibly light and tasty. Brownie was also so good, and oat latte was delish.

Bought their mixed set for a friend's birthday like a week ago and we totally loved it. The pick-up experience was lovely and very convenient. When I called ahead to confirm what time I will arrive they even offered a free coffee. As I arrived, I was instantly greeted with a smile and got my order easy-breezy, didn't even have to wait in the curbside for a long time. And the guy who prepared my order was really cute btw. I highly recommend this place!

We always get our birthday cake from here. Never been disappointed unlike other places. Watermelon cake is 10/10. From the first try till now it has not changed at all. The quality of the food is always the same. Fresh as ever and tastes the same. Must try watermelon, it’s so refreshing, not too sweet and soft texture. Just perfect for summer. We also tried their ice mocha and it was just amazing. Not many seating inside the cafe as they have stair like seating which is quite intimidating. They do have seating outside.

If your thinking of ordering online ensure you book it couples of days ahead as each order requires at least minimum 2 days time. They sometimes do delivery but not always. Worth checking their website.

Over all, best place for cake and pastries. Service is friendly too. Defiantly recommend.

The staff are friendly and enthusiastic. I ordered 2 cakes and had a very excellent recommendation based on my preferences, as well as a great description for each of them.

Deliciously crafted. Beautiful presentation. I love contrasting flavours and textures. The cakes were very fresh. (Context: Often with other cakes, I'll find the texture gets compromised over time because of moisture and the way ingredients are layered, but these were great!)

I showed up within an hour of closing and was welcomed with open arms.

Sat outside on a beautiful sunny day. Yes, they do iced coffee.

The cakes aren't cheap ($11) but you need to understand what you're paying for.

Great vibe, great staff. Absolutely to die for cheese and ham croissant. BUT.they need to get their act together. Standing at the counter for 5 minutes while the barista is making coffees, and no one acknowledges your presence.is NOT COOL.
I will return when normal common courtesies are introduced

Tried the Black Sesame Cake $11, Watermelon Cheesecake $11, Lychee Strawberry Cake $11 and Egg tart $7.
The Watermelon Cheesecake is very refreshing, especially when it’s hot outside. This was my favourite out of the cakes. All were yummy though.
Also had a cappuccino which was a little weak for me but still a good coffee.
Will definitely go back to try the other cakes.

While we were in a bit of hurry today we decided to drop into this very different type of pastry shop that only recently re-opened after some renovation. Very impressive! Unfortunately it was a little busy and we didn't have time to wait. Black Star Pastry, we'll be back!

Just don’t think too much order the watermelon cake. Hands down best cake if you are not looking for a chocolate cake. A bit pricey but the cake can pull of the weight.

Their main product is water starberry melon cake. It's lightly sweet, has real slice of watermelon & strawberry flavoured jelly.
This shop has minimalistic interiors, spacious in door seating & has good number of outdoor seating with heating facilities too.

Been hearing of the world's most instagrammable cake and today I decided to try it for myself. OH MAN. They don't lie. The intricacy it must take to put together such a wonderful construction! Please don't ever leave us Melbourne-ites behind.

Sydney's very famous Black Star Pastry should be on your must-visit list to do if in Melbourne and it's too late for you to fly to Sydney.

I'm always wary of places that are super hyped as I'm afraid it won't live up to expectation, but Black Star definitely does. They have a ton of vegan options, both sweet and savoury. I tried the vegan chocolate cake which is topped with freeze dried raspberries and candied popcorn. The cake was great on its own and even better with the topping. I can't wait to go back and try more menu items.

As i find a new treasure, where an old one used to be. Black star pastry are welcomed pop up pastry shop. Repalcing ilfornaio. Hostes the famous watermelon cake. Its something very interesting while offering savoury equivalents of wow.check out my videos and photos. The gift of welcome cake was so nicely appreciated. I will be back for breakfast and more. The general vibe of the space is just peaceful. Away from traffic noise too.i will update this review again after next visit.
