Forgot to take a picture of the food for this review but the toastie was super delicious and the coffee… so smooth!

Imagine my delight when I accidentally stumbled across this unreal cafe. In all honesty I was on the way to another I go to when I’m in Melbourne every fortnight, but they were closed.
So glad the other one was closed. Black Gold was sensational.
I always have eggs for breakfast but the look of the toasties were too compelling not to venture outside my comfort zone. And I did.
The Ruben with extra pastrami. Holy smokes… what a toastie! I will 100% be back again.

I really wanted to like this place, but I was honestly slightly disappointed in my dish, I chose the Cafe based on all the photos of the beautifully plated food and my one looked like they gave up on all the creativity. My Avocado on toast had no garnish, no colours, no effort. The flavors were okay.nothing too exciting, but my partner absolutely loved her Rueben toasty and the service was friendly so I would like to give it another go and hopefully get a bit more love next time.

Very bad! It's a very bad experience, not delicious, too expensive, rude staff and chefs, rude.

Black Gold. Probably should have left a review earlier and I've only taken a photo of one of my toasties. Damn, they make a good toastie, though.

One think I like about Black Gold, is that their toasties are actually very well toasted. The last one I had was the chicken, but I have also tried the Reuben. They are pretty big! Well filled and they don't take too long, either.

The coffee is from Ona, the Baristas always do a good job. The cafe is popular and it seems the locals and working week folk also found these delicious toasted sandwiches.

Black Gold was the first place people told me I needed to visit when I moved to Melbourne years ago, they have always had a good reputation.

Came here a couple of times for brunch. Really good food, great for catch-ups with friends. Professional and friendly staff too!

A great cafe serving some impressive fancy toasties. The coffee is also really good. Do keep in mind the cafe itself is small so they can get quite busy but well worth it.

A most welcoming place. Tasty toasties. The Rueben would have to rank first for me, followed by the truffle & mushroom. Great staff, excellent service. Nothing too hard and really delicious food. It’s like going to mum’s house, but super duper cooler.

I crashed a coffee date with my mum and sisters before heading to the Tennis. I ordered a steak sandwich without bread (what?) I'm on a Keto diet, and they brought out honestly the best meal I'd had in like 3 weeks I cook for myself I've just been eating sausages and eggs because that's all I can cook. They even went the extra effort to plate it with the sauce in a design. The coffee was great, long iced black, cannot go wrong. Overall left this place feeling really good. Thank you to the Chef/s for understanding the assignment and making it whole. Also this is definitely an inner city suburb cafe vibe and it kills it <3

Simply the best lunch and coffee I have had in the city thus far.veggie fritters was the best lunch I've had in memory. The toasties were piping hot and so good, especially the mushroom truffle for the vegetarians our there. I recommend the pumpkin grain salad as well. And the Baristas can make anything you can imagine with plant based milks. Chai Latte and cold brew were our favorites!

We were impressed with the staff too who were both attentive and super sociable. It seems the crowd is all neighborhood regulars who know the staff by name and vice versa.

Eating outside under the umbrellas is the perfect weekend ambiance. Every experience has been 10/10 for me. Easy to see understand why after the first visit.

I absolutely love this cafe. By far the best cafe in the area. The customer service is great. It doesn’t matter who serves you they are always really nice, welcoming and will have a laugh with you.

They by far have the best toasted sandwiches and trust me I’ve tried most places to compare. The Rueban is amazing and the chilli crab scramble is awesome as well.

Best coffee and breakfast in Richmond. Super popular and hectic inside when it rains. Staff are amazing and always super friendly.

Great quality sandwiches and prompt, friendly service. We went on a beautiful sunny day to sit outside under their nice undercover outdoor area outfront.
Both the Reuben and Spicy Tuna Melt were really nice, on delightful buttery toasted sourdough. Absolutely loved The Reuben most with perfectly smokey tasty pastrami and winning Russian dressing. Would definitely return for it!

Best coffee and great food! One of the best spots to eat in richmond! The acai pancakes are delish! And servings are good.

Coffee is strong and creamy and matcha is tad on the weak side. Service is friendly, our Ruben and eggs were tasty. The only fault we had was getting a powdered chai instead of loose leaf, and naturally it was too sweet.

The hype is real about the toasties! Generously filled and so fresh. Loved the spicy tuna toastie and coffee.

THE TOASTIES! You can’t go wrong with toasties! Coffee is amazing, the staff are friendly and attentive, been back twice and i’ll keep coming back!

I came there to buy beens but It was out of stock. I tried their decaf latte with oat milk. It is yammy. I would back to buy the Beens and coffee.
