Black Forest Motel reviews
38 Not happy with the owners dog off lead aggressively approaching my Great Dane then being told Great Danes specifically not being allowed at the motel. No mention of dog size allowances on the website I booked through.
Other than that nice ammenities & breakfast.
Absolutely amazing little spot, with great facilities. The breakfast bar was a lovely surprise
Lovely and cosy. Great kitchen area and BBQ area. Very peaceful night. Ty Rhonda Fitzpatrick
Self check in easy. Good King bed. Heater and electric blanket good and shower king in size. Good one stop location on the drive
Clean hotel but the lights at the side of the bed were not safe, ie very hot once on for some time. My 4 year old placed her palm on the light and sustained a first degree burn which required a visit to Kyneton emergency. We've also had to have her reviewed by the Royal children's hospital burns clinic. Whilst i understand that the hotel cannot control what their guests do, i admit being extremely disappointed when I contacted the owners after our stay to feed this safety and important information back to them - they did not apologise nor provide any further explanation on their next steps.
All I got when he answered the phone was what do I want and I just crashed with my family in the car so cheers for nothing
My experience starting off wonderful! John was so understanding and patient while I was trying to organise my wedding.
It was clear at the beginning that we did not have to pay or confirm 100% until a couple of weeks before the wedding - which was so amazing and it took so much pressure off me.
Closer to the wedding, after numerous emails and sms', there was just no understanding from his end. To be fair, I did change a few rooms quite a bit. But there was still no email to state they were confused or misled - it still seemed like I had enough time to make these changes.
I was so clear with my last email who would be in what room, what rooms would be empty, who owes him money and who has paid. Only to get to the night of my wedding to find out people were left without a room, locked out of theirs (then blamed that it was my guests fault), or double ups.
I would have preferred to be told that they did not understand or my emails were not clear, rather than receiving blunt responses and then having to figure this out the night of my wedding.
It's really a shame it ended this way, considering my experience began so positively.
Nice and quiet location, easy to find.
Room was clean, just no flowers (bug screen) on the windows, would have been nice to have some fresh air not air-conditioning
Great business and management team with a lot if integrity. In the days where people are losing money with covid cancellations, this is a trusted establishment that I will definitely book to stay at again.
Classic motel with modern bathrooms, good beds, friendly staff. Communal kitchen with all facilities for cooking/BBQ ing, as well as cereals, milk, juice, eggs, butter etc available. At easy walking distance from railway station. Great as a base for walking the trails in this area, and/or wine tasting.
Clean room with lovely new bathroom. On main road but not noisy inside. Only 5 mins to Macedon shops & 10 to Woodend.
Best part is, its dog friendly.
I booked a room with John over the phone and was quoted $165.00 for the night. I was dissapointed to see that l had been charged $210.00 on my credit card. I contacted the Motel to determine why this was the case via their Facebook page, but received no response.
Thank you for having us!
We stayed for four nights and could have easily stayed longer. Here's what we loved.
Comfortable bed
Renovated bathrooms
Great parking for our large vehicle
Pet friendly
Accommodating owners
Designated undercover eating/cooking areas with breakfast included!
️ It was a surprisingly short walk to Macedon cafes and restaurants and only took 10 minutes to drive into Woodend.
Very comfortable. And the camp kitchen is very well equipped for food and utensils. Make your own breakfast
Absolutely wonderful! Well priced.modern suite with all the creature comforts and loved the shower! 100% recommend this place! Thanks John
Great place to stay. Freindly and helpful staff and a really central spot to the Macedon Ranges attractions.
Quiet position, with refurbished nice
room. Good breakfast in the 'Breakfast'
Room. Would stay again.
Comfortable, quiet accommodation, friendly proprietor. Majestic forest surroundings and a quaint village. I want to explore more.
Rooms were extremely clean and well looked after. Bed super comfy, BBQ area great and staff super friendly. Would stay again
Customer Service seems to be a foreign concept to this place.having stayed there once prior (was ‘okay’)
. This time, as I was on a long driving trip, I checked their website to see if there was the possibility of stopping for the night. Website was vague, but certainly didn’t give me any reason to think it was impossible to check in shortly before midnight - as per the website, they were open, had vacancies and so I called. Plus they were listed for no cut off times for checking in.
Dialed the number: gruffly “greeted” by a male (owner?) I asked about the possibility of a room due to the aforementioned driving fatigue setting in - only for him to ask how far away I was (ten, fifteen minutes) before he then made a bunch of indecisive groans/grunts before bluntly snapping “Naaah. Bye” and abruptly disconnecting the call.
Could have simply not answered the phone if they weren’t open?
Could have just been polite?
