The Japanese menu options were great, the food was all so much full of flavour.
It was nice to get several of the small plates to share, the menu seems like it’s designed to share. However there are a bento box like option also if that’s your choice.
Favourite choice would be the oysters that have yuzu and cavier, and you can’t have Japanese food without edamame.
Only concern was that apart from one other solo diner, we were the only customers in the restaurant for lunch, so you don’t get left alone much by the waiters, a bit too much energy and it felt like they lingered around us and there wasn’t much sense of privacy of our conversation. Hopefully this restaurant can get more customers and the service it deserves, as the food was amazing and it’s worth coming back for.

My husband and I had dinner here yesterday and I may be exaggerating but we enjoyed every single dish that was served to us. The highlight was the tempura prawns for us though.

We chose the set menu. And I just want to comment that if you're not in a hurry, this is the place to dine as we spent an hour overall for the meals to come through. Pacing was alright as it gave us time to digest each meal served to us.

I'd also like to give a shout out to the staff cause they were accommodating. I felt cold and the waitress noticed and asked if I was cold and turned the heater on a bit for me and we both felt so welcomed!

We would both love to come back again and try the ala carte menu next time

The premise itself was not as big but quite cosy. I'd be honest that although they tasted good with thoughtful presentations, the prices were quite high compared to the portions we received. Service and ambience were great.

Good food, nice drinks menu and atmosphere.
No real wow factor for the food but it very tasty, the Cod was my favourite, scallop flavours was a bit too sweet, corn ribs were great.

A nice menus to enjoy some share plates with mates and have a few drinks, wouldn’t be a venue to come and expect to be full.

Celebrated by birthday dinner here and everything was perfect. The overall ambience of the restaurant is nice. Warm and welcoming staff that were efficient in bringing each dish to the table at the right time. The selection of music and lighting complements the setting.

The tempura prawns and Wagyu were the two best plates out of the set menu for me. I was even surprised by the corn ribs which was paired with butter teriyaki and parmesan quite well. I highly recommend trying the set menu if you visit. Will definitely be back for another special occasion.

4.4/5
The kingfish carpaccio was outstanding, the truffle smell and the yuzus shoyu sauce are perfect! The tempura prawn was also decent but less would have been more. The scallop and the yakitori was a disappointment compared to the price.
The cocktails tho were delicious and the bartender was super friendly as well. Shout out to Daichi!

Excellent food, the menu is unique compare to some other Japanese restaurants. Love all the food that we order. Among the 3 of us we decided to do alacarte as it’s more make sense rather the set menu. You still have to pay extra for Wagyu on the set menu

A lovely modern Japanese restaurant in the heart of Melbourne CBD. Attentive staff and great atmosphere, nicely plated, however a little expensive for the portion size. Food was good however not outstanding.

? Kingfish carpaccio $28
? Wagyu nigigri $34must-try
? Hokkaido scallops $32
quite sweet and buttery
? Akamiso duck $39
the flavour was a bit odd, not much of my liking
? Wagyu steak $45
quite disappointed as the meat was so chewy
? Kale & mushroom ohitashi $22
? Assorted skewers $36
recommend

Had the most amazing meal here. Every dish is so well put together and beautifully presented.
Our only "issue" is that for us it felt a bit rushed, as we got the dishes quite quickly, where a more relaxed serving would be preferred (next time we will probably let them know as we order)
The staff was super pleasant!

Had dinner here after work and it was amazing. We ordered a few dishes between 3 adults; wagyu truffle nigiri, whole grilled squid, sake steamed clams, mb9 australian wagyu and assorted skewers. This was just enough for the 3 of us. Service was attentive and each dish was explained when served. Price is on the slightly dearer side but overall the quality and flavours were great. Approx $70-80pp

First time dining at Bincho Boss and absolutely loved it. Nice modern interior with delicious beef carpaccio, scallops with some amazing sauce and the corn ribs were delish! Paired with a refreshing umeshu cocktail

There are many sushi places in Melbourne. Some like Kisume where you are treated to a phenomenal experience and the sushi is good. Then there’s Sushi Hub, Sushi Jiro etc.these are great for grabbing a tune nigiri on your lunch break. Then there is this place, where the quality of the sushi is phenomenal and good value. Better than Kisume. Yup. You read it right. Better.
The waygu was the greatest thing I have ever tasted as well.
So if your looking for good sushi experience and better value then some fancy top notch place but still feels like a fancy experience without the pish posh get into Bincho Boss and walk out like a boss.

Went with a few friends and we got the set menu. It was delicious! The sashimi was great, the ebi fry prawns were tasty and the wagyu nigiri was amazing! The dessert of matcha Pana cotta was also really good. The amount of food was decent for the price, and it all came quite quickly. The staff were friendly.
The cocktails were great however the only down side was the time it took for them to come out. We ordered drinks about 5 or so before the food, but the drinks didn’t come out until our second dish came out. The second round took around 15-20 minutes to come out also.
Apart from that it was nice and I’d go back:)

Great small and personal Japanese restaurant. Great for a date or catch up with friends as music is not too loud and there are not many other tables on the venue.

Menu is diverse, food is great however portions for price are not equal. Prices are quite high and don’t match to the proportion in some plates.

Excellent service and nice ambience. Would definitely recommend for a special day.

Very great and friendly service. Easy reservation by Open Table.

Amazing food. Contrasting and complementary flavours and textures. 10/10 would recommend and come again.

Dishes are shareable. We were 4 people and had 8 dishes (excluding dessert). That was enough!

Everything was delicious but the eggplant was the surprise winner for us.

Lots of gluten free options.
