Bill's Takeaway Fish & Chip Shop reviews
40 Cash only so beware, they do offer bank transfer but still quite inconvenient.
Food is nothing to rave about, batter is quite thick and fish cake was old when I ordered mine.
Just totally gone off the boil.
Old and dry fish. Soggy flavourless chips. Undercooked and flavourless potato cakes.
Once the best, now just awful. Really sad!
The cooked fish and chips had the old deep fryer oil after taste. Cash only too. Lacked fresh clean taste compare to others.
The best chips in the world! I used to go there every weekend Always the right temperture, and amount of salt. The chips are crispy on the out side and soft in the inside, which in my opinion are basically the perfect chips. I also wanted to mention that the prawn thing-things are also amazing. I haven’t tried anything else, but I’m sure that they will be amazing, everything here is great quality a worth the time and money it takes to buy these chips. And anyway, you don’t actually have to wait very long. 10/5 stars
Usually passing through the area, and will pop into this fish shop for some fish and chips.service is good and they are always busy when im there waiting to pick up my order.
Stopped in for a burger with the lot because everything else in area seemed a bit fancy for me. Best burger I have had in years. Will definitely be back when in area.
The food was pretty good. Hamburger was decent although a runny egg-yolk is a strange choice. Chips also decently crispy. Flake reported as appropriately tasty and of a decent size. Chiko Roll also cooked to correct levels.
However.in one of the stranger substitutions I've come across, the requested potato cake was replaced with a dim sim and a calamari ring (neither of which were desirable and therefore not eaten).
Also.place only takes cash or bank-transfer, which feels pretty strange these days.
Top notch food, not too greasy. Grilled barramundi was nice, if a little small. Cash only venue but that's ok. Will go back.
Was very good fish and chips the cashier i think his name was will provided very good service so, tell him he did a good job!
Good fish and chips. Can't say no. Staff are friendly and the cool it all well, so can't complain
Really solid fish and chips. First time we had it, amazing! We went back a fortnight later and it was still very good.but not as good. So possibly a bit inconsistent.having said that, we'll still go back next time we want fish and chips as its the best we've found in the area.
Always great fish and chips, with crunchy chips and fresh fish. Best sure to bring cash, or use the atm located inside:)
Bill’s is a cracking local Fish & Chip shop. The staff are friendly and always serve up delicious food made exactly to order. Very glad that they are our local. They are cash only but have an ATM on site.
1 of the worst fish an chips shop i have ever been to fish is average an chips was enough to feed my 7 year old son never again they lost me for good
This was one of the worst fish and chips I have ever eaten. There is no calamari in the calamari rings and the fish was rubbery and over cooked. The batter was soft and soggy and the chips had no taste.
Bills takeaway would rate in the worst 10% of fish and chip shops I've ever eaten at. Fish was over cooked with thick dough batter. Horrible. Potato cakes were a disgrace. Chips nearly acceptable. Oh but that fish. Yuk. 90% of the meal ended up in a rubbish bin.
Not sure how they’ve managed a 4.5 ave. Everything was poor. Souvlaki (I wouldn’t call them that) was tiny, poorly seasoned meat in a slightly stale un-grilled pita. Chips were clearly cooked in old oil. Potato cakes were soggy and very heavy, dim sims were dripping with oil, corn jack was overcooked, battered sav was also dripping with oil. To summarize “the worst fish and chip shop experience I’ve ever had”.
Good old fashioned fish and chips! Great service and never misses items like other places have done to us before. Thanks for having the best staff
We went to Bills for Good Friday! I know it is the busiest day of the year but we had them earlier in the week and that was the families choice. Not knowing what to expect with new rules, we did order by phone and as expected the wait was quoted as 45 minutes. My son walked up to pick them up. He said it was really busy on the footpath, with the shop enforcing social distance rules. After a little more of a wait and some confusion (seems we did not get a number as the people who ordered in person did, and someone else was picking up an order under the name of Claire), they arrived home and we unwrapped. Unfortunately our potato cakes were left out. I called the store and after a quick search they were there waiting, so off I went for the short drive. Fearing the worst, I was surprised they were there and the whole meal was delicious. Thanks Bills. I hope that you are resting today and that working so hard for so many of us paid off.
Nice staff but poorly filleted and over-priced fish. My parents have been ordering here for at least 30 years and refuse to go anywhere else despite the shrinking portions and price increases with each new ownership. I really wish Bill's did better so I could enjoy Friday night dinner with my family. I will review again if I see an improvement.
