Since Steph purchased the business, there's been many great and beneficial improvements to the studio! She is an amazing business owner and EXCELLENT with customer service. The other staff are fantastic too, always willing to help and make you feel very welcome! Would highly recommend Bikram Yoga Bayside to ANYONE!

I've been to about 8 bikram centers. I really like Bayside bikram, the main teacher is cool, sensitive to the energy of the class, not a militant like a couple of teachers I've met. Free shampoo is always appreciated after a big sweat. The real magic with bikram of course happens when you go 2 - 3 times a week for a month or more. Glad they have a center in this area.:)

I've been going to BYB since December 2012, the studio is filled with a fantastic group of teachers and students and I can't recommend it highly enough.

The instructor at Bayside Yoga did not allow us to drink water for the majority of the class or leave the room whatsoever. This is not common practice for Bikram and caused me personally to suffer heat stroke. The instructor says feelings of discomfort and nausea are 'normal' or 'part of the process'. A medical professional would say they are unsafe & signs serious dehydration.

Tried Bikram yoga for the fist time last night and loved it, felt totally energised and pain free afterwards. The teacher is encouraging but firm. If you want a spiritual experience that is physically challenging give Bikram Bayside a go.

Bikram Yoga classes at Bayside are the Best! They are appropriate for any level of fitness and flexibility and you can really see/feel the benefits even after the first week. Marcelle and the team are great, their friendly and calm nature make you feel at ease while you work up a massive sweat! Not only gives you a great body, but relaxes and soothes the mind aswel. Highly recommend Bikram Yoga Bayside as a stylish, fun and rewarding alternative to slaving away in a gym or on a treadmill.

Sorry I haven't actually been to BYB, but have been doing Bikram for a number of years and had to respond to the person that said the instructor 'did not allow us to drink water for the majority of the class or leave the room' and that 'this is not common practice for Bikram'. Actually, common practice (as any regular will know) for Bikram is:
- the instructor will tell you not to drink water unless between poses so as not to distract other students - but there is is only one 'formal' water break. Further, the idea is that over time, and provided you're well-hydrated before the class (as you should be), ideally you can give up drinking during the classs, as it IS a distraction to the practice.
- no-one should leave the room unless it's an 'emergency', and first-timers are told that the goal is to stay in the room for the 1.5 hours. Obviously, if you feel really sick or have to go to the loo, then that would be a reason to leave.

Having said the above, no-one is going to physically force you not to drink or not to the leave the room - so ultimately, it is your choice. The instructor may encourage but they can't force you to do anything.
