Big Sams St Albans Market reviews
34Big Sam St Albans Market has a large variety of store holders, where you can purchase fruit and vegetables, hams and cheeses, etc. Also different fresh meets and fish. Prices are very reasonable and cheap. Go and do your shopping there. They are open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Small and yet very assorted market, perfect to visit and shop if you have mobility issues. The best is the deli, people in there are very nice and attentive, always with a smile and they help my partner with their bags. Also many thing there are European, much better than Dandenong market which is huge, but with Muslim stuff.
The only bad thing is the butcher right next to the deli, some times they have people working there who does not understand what you want, when you ask for a piece if beef to be sliced they do it in the back outside your vision, some times less kg than asked or too thin.
Veggies in the market are very assorted and fresh.
Place is very much in need of a renovation the meat and fish departments look terrible and the meat looks old and I bet it's tough
Great quality, very good price and clean; unlike most of the asian shops. Always go there for fresh fish and vegetables.
Maltese foods at a wonderful delicatessen among a melting pot of many cultures. Selling everything that markets do.
Remember the old fashioned markets? The ones where everywhere you turn there's an array of cultures, languages, cheap prices, plenty of fresh produce, meats, seafood, delis, plenty of smiles and conversations? It's still here, in St Albans?
There's a sense of community that draws me in.
To the point where I ignore the issue of parking. And yes.the parking can be a problem. But as long as you're aware of the limited spaces, you'll be fine.
There's the train station opposite, and parking in other areas nearby. Everything is walking distance. It's worth it. You'll cut down your grocery bills buying from here, trust me.
Loads of meat, fish and veg. All fresh and well-priced. Lots of European products too - love the smoked meats
Price's of fruit and veggies are reasonable, the 2 deli's are great, the meat I buy is reasonably priced and great. Good place to shop. The staff at each shop I go too are very friendly.
Everything you need under one roof. Great prices too. I get my nuts and lentils from here, my husband gets his meat and our fruit and vegetables.
Dirty and smelly market that sells old fruits, meats and vegetables. The other stores are pretty good.
I had a wonderful experience. Prices were cheap. Lots of greens and a good range of meats. Place was clean. Will come back
DO NOT BUY poultry from Big Sam Market! It's full of hormone. I found out today that the supplier of their poultry comes from the place where I used to work for in Laverton. The meat processing place is very dirty and the chicken was full of hormone is not RSPCA approved. The new shop also owned by the same person. I miss the old chicken shop that was at the back of the market.
Fresh fruit and veg and also meat, deli produce and fish. Recommend this place best in the West.
Some of the delis are fantastic and have very good products and good service!
Some of the butcher shops are absolutely disgraceful! To the point where hygiene is non existent e.g. Handling raw meat and money with the same hands and putting the raw meat bare on the scales. Disgusting.
Tried to contact landlord never received response dirty toilets cant even go inside with the smell and produce isn't fresh at all. Don't waste your time or money going there it's not worth it.
, ample parking, Ranges On sales on Saturday afternoon, Asian and Deli, great range of grocery, wheelchair access
Can't even park in this hell hole. Drivers going down one way streets the wrong way. Idiots double parking. Didn't even make it into the market.
It is different now too when I was a kid but things change It still has everything you need when you shop there and they is a great coffee shop so stop the owner is great
These markets are small but cute. Plenty of fruit and vegetables, seafood outlets, butcher shops and continental delicatessens. Delicious cakes and biscuits. European coffee's.
Heaps of parking.
Close to the train station.
Convenience at hand.
Prices and value is good.
Haven't been in years. Now I know why. Veggies old and not fresh. Not much there. Disappointing
