Bezirk Altona Cafe

I went for breakfast this morning and I was extremely disappointed. I ordered poached eggs on toast with hollandaise sauce and a small cappuccino.totalling $24.50. Sadly the sourdough toast was so hard and dry I could hardly cut it up let alone chew it. There was no butter on the toast and only one small slice cut in half. Eggs however were cooked to perfection. Half way through eating I found a hair which was disappointing. I know I should have told the waitress but she was so nice and friendly I didn't want to embarrass her or my friend who was paying for my breakfast as it was my birthday.
Apart from that my other friend works there so I was uncomfortable to make a fuss.
I have to say the coffee was excellent at least but poor value for the price overall. I understand that the cost of living is high and restaurants are struggling but i think one small piece of toast and 2 eggs for $16 is way too much if you come away feeling hungry.
Sorry guys for the bad review but I just wanted to be honest. This as constructive feedback to help you improve and raise your standards to previous owners.
I recommend you go to The Birdcage in Altona the breakfast is twice the size and cheaper better value for money.

This is a hidden gem, coffee and food very good.

Wow, we have not had coffee and cake this good for a long time. Gluten free sweet things were superb.

Food was ok, service from our waitress was good. The chef catered for our 2 furbabies and prepared their scrambled eggs and cheese as requested

The gentlemen (assume manager) seemed a bit rude when we asked to move to the only table with an umbrella (it was 38 degrees) and made excuses to clean the table.

May try them again to see if this was a once off experience.

The food here is absolutely delicious. I had the chilli eggs and am still thinking about them days later. Recommend.

Great coffee, and nice food. The staff was really friendly. We even asked some questions around the coffee beans and got some excellent knowledge from them.

Lovely cafe with great service and coffee. Was a delight to come across this gem of a cafe in Altona.

Visited at around 10.45 on a Tuesday morning. The café' has a calming atmosphere. It's located just around the corner from the Altona beach. No problem parking. By 11.30am the café' was very, very busy. Staff is second to none, pleasant and accommodating. We ordered Avocado on multigrain that came with 2 poached eggs. The serve was large enough to be a main meal and the taste? Delicious! Also ordered fries, these too were very tasty. The seasoning used on the fries was perfect, making them different to those we had tasted thus far. The coffee? Great and can hold its own against top restaurants. Would have given 5 stars but for the menu, this could include more variety. Kids menu is also available. Will be visiting this café’ again in the near future. *surcharge of 1.25% applicable if paying with Credit Card

Oh my god… get the Cubano Benedict! One of the most divine sandwiches I’ve ever tasted, pulled pork and shaved ham, with a couple of perfect poached eggs and Hollandaise on top. Simply amazing!

I’m a regular customer here for the last 3 years. Food, coffee (Dine-in), location, Staff and service are great. One of the best cafes in the area.

I feel the takeaway coffees are not that consistent now compared to a year ago. We usually grab takeaways coffees few times during the week and we’ve been doing takeaway coffees on Sunday mornings for our small badminton group here for the last year or so and they were hit and miss.

I added this place to my favorites. Got a chilli egg and loved it. It was not too hot and perfectly spiced. They brought my long black coffee with a shot of sparkling water. Highly recommended.

Great local cafe in Altona with amazing food and a good vibe.

Last time we went we got the burgers as a hangover cure and they really hit the spot. Succulent bun and great zingy flavours. Bacon was also a good addition!

Friendly service and good coffee. Definitely recommend if you're down in Altona.

I love Bezirk but I miss Michael at the helm: hands on. I miss so many of the old staff, there was magic here the last 4 years.change is the sad constant in our lives, yet.the coffee is still gr8, as is the food and music and staff are very pleasant. Also the new manager is excellent!

Ordered smashed avo and wasn't happy with the stale (possibly off), brown, mashed avocado. When letting the staff know it was in a terrible state, we were told it was "good to know" and met with excuses such as "it had lemon in it, maybe you were tasting the lemon"

Everytime I've been here I've had a fantastic experience! They do great strawberry milkshakes, and poached eggs with hash browns and hollandaise are a winner!

Incredible pies and coffee, highly recommended! (Their pies and bread are from their sister bakery in Seddon, Sourdough Kitchen)
