Betel Boy

Popped in for a light lunch. Had the bao buns, dumplings & fried rice (which was the best of the 3). Only got 5 small dumplings for $18 which was a bit overpriced. Service intially wasn't overly friendly but ok in the end.

Quick update as we popped in again for lunch. Absolutely perfect duck, dumplings and fish all cooked beautifully, we left as very happy bunnies indeed, thank you

The food was a disaster and went from bad to worse, with every dish progressively giving us the ick. The spring rolls were just weird flavours, the mushroom dumplings were soggy and with a terribly over powering fermented taste, the tofu bao buns tasted old and flavour less and the finale was honestly the worst beef massaman curry I’ve eaten that tasted microwaved and not fresh at all. Service was pretty cranky but efficient. The cocktails we tried were actually very nice but I wouldn’t come back again for the food.

Food was amazing as was the atmosphere staff were great and had perfect timing when it came to serving and the follow up clearing without being obtrusive (if you get what I mean!) My favourite meal was the Pork belly and Lemon grass fried rice have been back just to have it again.
Great place for a laid back get together with friends.

Big shout out to Luke for the amazing service he provided to our large group. The cocktails were fabulous and the drinks arrived promptly with a smile. Moved inside for dinner and was extremely happy with the wonderfully tasty food. Thanks again for making our get together truely memorable

Really nice luxurious but low-key aesthetic and vibe, nice low lighting for sensitive folk. I imagine it gets quite busy around dinner time especially on weekends, but I was here for an early lunch on a weekday and it was great. Service was good, the menu was good. The food was so delicious and great portion sizes, menu works well for sharing dishes.

Fantastic Barramundi The best flavours. We also go the vegetarian panang tofu and eggplant curry. We shared these two meals. Both were Gluten free and even dairy free. We will be back when in Daylesford again.

I must admit I had high hopes but unfortunately the food didn’t live up in my option. Dumplings were poorly dressed with too much black vinegar. Roti was quite poor and was reheated from a packet, I saw the chef carrying a bag in. Curry was ok but nothing to amaze. Would give it another go to see if other dishes were ok, but so far not a win from me.

Great spot, for a relaxed dinner or a quick bite. Flavours are amazing, and sitting at the bar allows you to watch all the flavour creation action. Great selection of beverages

Reasonably priced. Consider they are on the Main Street, they have to pay a higher rent, the price is actually good. Food is tasty and if you are on a diet, this is a good place to go. Their portion is not big, so you won’t worry about wasting food. If I can finish, you can!

Very nice Asian Fusion restaurant in main street in Daylesford. Xlnt duck pancakes. Pork bao buns. Crispy chicken wings. Would have liked more greens as the small amount was delicious. Good selection of beers. The Delatite Pinot Gris Was very nice with the food. We sat in the big window alcove wbicb showed the street. Well worth trying.

My partner and I came out for dinner and we were very disappointed. Dumplings tasted like frozen dumplings, thin bits of pork in the Bao buns, and 1 piece of potato in the massaman curry. Hugely over priced for what you get. So disappointed

Really delicious food! The atmosphere was really nice, not too busy and lovely velvet interior. The service was wonderful and the food portions were great with everyone on our table being really really happy with their food. Had a lovely overall experience, would definitely go back

Wonderful decor, great menu. The food and service can be a tad inconsistent with each visit, but generally quite good. The venue and food are very aesthetically pleasing, it feels more like a trendy inner city bar than a regional restaurant! Try the "feed me" menu for a varied and filling feast.

Has the veggie spring rolls, and the barramundi fillet. The rolls were creatively wrapped in birds nest pastry. The dipping sauce was perfectly balanced and added to the dish. The filling of mushrooms and vegetables was perfect and delightfully savoury. I would suggest the serve could come with slightly more herbs (mint and Thai basil) for wrapping the rolls in.
I also had the barramundi fillet and the mushroom and Tofu stir fry. The fillet was fresh, the skin perfectly crispy, and I loved the bed of bean shoots and chilli that the fish came on. The sauces and flavours on the stir fry was umami, rich, and perfectly complimented the greens. I would suggest the stir fry was slightly too green-bean heavy and could have had more of the mushrooms/bok choi/Tofu to balance the textures a bit more. Overall, the atmosphere was great and the flavours were excellent. Wheelchair accessible + has accessible bathroom.

Great place in Daylesford if you want something a bit different. Priced around the average for fusion cuisine. Staff were cheerful and helpful. Food arrived very soon after we ordered and tasted fantastic.

Only downside was that Amex wasn’t accepted when. Not a deal breaker, but would be good

Three of us had an amazing evening here with a few bottles of lovely wine and great food. The staff are very friendly and very cosy atmosphere.

Flavours were nice but very small servings. More potato than eggplant in the Egplant Curry.

We, my Sri Lankan friend and I, had dinner on Thursday night. We had a lovely booth opposite the kitchen.

I have traveled and eaten across most of the word, and the main points for me are.is the food good.is the service good.and are the prices being charged appropriate to what I am getting.

The food was outstanding. Both in quality and design.

The service from Luke (the owner, along with his wife) was equal to the food, and, a pleasant change compared to what you get from most establishments.

And the cost was very respectable given the quality of the food and the service.

So. I highly recommend to anyone who loves to eat to visit the Betel Boy if you are ever in Daylesford.

You will not be disappointed. ️️️️️
