Bendigo Botanic Gardens reviews
40The gardens are smaller than I expected. It's a fairly quick walk around the whole park. There's a bird aviary which was closed when we went but you could still see some of the birds inside. The kids' playground was really lovely and had quite a naturalist, serene vibe to it. This is a ideal place to go if you want to enjoy a low key, relaxed walk, play or picnic.
White Hills Gardens maybe? Great place to relax with your favourite fried chicken or pizza. Friends optional.
Always nice and relaxing, great place to let the children loose, I can still remember when they had monkeys there plus kangaroos and wallabies and emus.
Great place for a barbecue or picnic.
Very beautiful place lots to see
There’s a lake, playground, Lots of shaded picnic areas
A bird sanctuary that’s open to public at certain times
A fair bit of parking
And a bike track bridge from the bike trail
Pleasant place but limited car park space along Scott's Road.
Lake Weeroona Park with larger water is better for picnic.
Didn't get the chance to take a walk through the gardens as there for a family event. What I did see, beautiful. A credit to keepers.
A bit of a hidden gem. Well out of Bendigo proper, these very old gardens are at White Hills. They are well cared for, with good paths and extensive lawns set among very mature native and exotic trees, and bushes. There is an bird avery, but it is only open certain times. The lakes or billabongs of Bendigo Creek are a delight to photograph and sit beside. Very close to these old gardens, almost beside them is a new garden area, with clever small areas with younger plantings of native plants and flowers, as well as many varieties I had not seen, a charm to stroll along the many paths and little corners. I very much recommend both these gardens, free to enter, plenty of parking, shade, seats, great for gatherings, or just wandering and soaking up the atmosphere.
Top spot for the family to stop for a stretch and Play and a perfect place for a little party picnic for kids or a family get togethers
We had an amazing time. Free BBQ machine with the the lid. Kids friendly play ground, variety of flower and beautiful landscape. Highly recommended.
I have to give credit to lawn and plants being always in pristine condition.
Otherwise not really much to see besides a massive lawn, a few trees & plants. Bird cage and pool is always closed every time I’ve been which is a real deal breaker. In comparison to every other botanical Garden I’ve been to including Rosalind park. This is easily down there as being tiniest with little to do.
We always enjoy wandering through this calm and beautiful garden and finding stunning trees and plants we hadn't noticed before. The horticultural staff have worked so hard to keep everything looking healthy and thriving through the summer and each season reveals something special. There are shady areas with picnic tables, a delightful and inventive children's playground plus an aviary to walk through once more. Definitely worth visiting throughout the year.
Beautiful place for a walk or picnic. You can also find a nice aviary inside the gardens. Worth checking out.
Nice shady place with a great playground for the kids, amazing place to sit down and catch up with friends throughout the year.
The gardens look great and the new section just out side looks amazing, will be fantastic once they can be used for events
What a lovely find. We were so impressed and noticed some other areas there we would like to check out next time. Very impressive, well maintained and very creative gardens. A pleasure to walk around and enjoy.
Except the section with seasonal flowers, our experience at the Botanic Gardens of Bendigo was underwhelming. We couldn't enter the 'Aviary' and the 'Garden for Future'. The remaining sections lack proper signage, care and most importantly, plants to justify the name 'Botanic garden'. The vast space available could have bene utilised in so many better way. What a shame!
This is a beautiful gardens park land and well maintained, a great place to have a picnic with family and friends and just relax and enjoy the serenity.
Beautiful gardens with plant information and lovely shade trees. A great place to picnic, or take the kids to the playground
We enjoyed our visit to the Bendigo Botanic Gardens. It was a nice quiet and stress free day out, with plenty of parking.
The gardens has a nice variety of vegetation. All plants, trees and flowers featured there names and descriptions.
There is a lake that runs through the gardens which provides lots of shade with the over hanging trees, and is very nice.
The gardens are well looked after and immaculate which makes the experience more enjoyable.
Also features a bird aviary, which was unfortunately closed at the time we visited.
It was great to see that there was plenty of people, including two kids parties being held at the gardens.
Includes free public BBQ and covered outdoor seating space.
The Botanic Gardens is located not far from the Bendigo town centre.
A short drive from Bendigo Victoria CBD. Ample parking well defined pathways to stroll around the gardens and enjoy the displays. Unfortunately the only facilities available at this location are toilets which are clean and tidy. However there is a hotel next to the main entrance of the gardens that supplies food and drink. Across the road from the gardens is a MacDonald restaurant. There is also an aviary in the gardens that is open week days. Worth the visit.
