Bayside Souvlaki Cafe reviews
36Absolutely amazing! Best souvlakis I’ve ever eaten, and so much better than what I’ve had in Melbourne.
Best Gyros in the area hands down. If you buy a big souvla good luck trying to fit in a side of chips! Value for money. Can buy a meat tray with all the salads and Dips to feed the family. Real Greek food cooked by real Greeks.
Fantastic souvlaki cooked over charcoal the authentic way. And the souvlaki’a a big and packed with meat. Reasonable pricing too. Would highly recommend.
My husband and I ordered 2 x mix souvlaki plus chips and it was super tasty (better then a lot of places in Melbourne). They are very generous in the amount of meat they give, the chips came out super hot & salty and the Greek music was a nice touch. Highly recommend this place if you are after a quick meal.
Food top quality fresh meat great service very highly recommended best kababs in the peninsula by far well with the

Mixed Lamb and Chicken Souvlaki (Gyros)
Chips
Bayside Souvlaki Cafe is located on the main drag of Point Nepean Road in Rye. They serve up authentic charcoaled gyros as well as some homemade Greek dips and desserts.
It was the morning after a festival and I was having a big hangover craving. Walking past the shops I stopped here, they’re the rotating spits all crispy and glistening, they were essentially calling out for me.
I ordered a Mixed Lamb and Gyros, and everything about it was great. So tasty, plenty of meat, super fresh, amazing pita. I could only make it half way through it was that big. They actually have a mini size, which I would probably get next time.
$6 for their “small” chips, it was pretty generous. Well seasoned and crunchy, they did their job.
Next time I’m in Rye, I know where I’m headed!
Staying in Rye over the Easter long weekend 2023, we are from Melbourne (Epping).
And we've basically tried every Souvlaki place all over the Northern, Western, Eastern and Southern Suburbs of Victoria.
We were first time customers at Bayside Souvlaki Cafe today in Rye and I'll have to tell you that I can't remember when is the last time we had a decent original mouth watering perfectly cooked Souvlaki until today.
Bayside Souvlaki Cafe is owned and operated by people who really know how to cook traditional Greek cuisine at its finest.
We are making them our primary eating out restaurant destination every time we are in Rye from now on, definitely a place to check out whilst in the area.
Well done guys

Great big dish full of meat, tastes awesome and very friendly staff. Will definitely return in the future!
Great little place, although minimal seating plenty of areas sit around the area. I purchased the $55 dollar family meal.ample supply of food more so much than in Melbourne establishments. Only one thing to mention, maybe being a very busy day, some of the lamb had a wood flavour to it more than the charcoal. All good though would return if craving a souvlaki enroute. #greek #souvlake #tomekreviews
The men serving us were extremely friendly, even offering a free box of food after a misunderstanding. Definitely recommend!
The smell of the meat, wofts through the streets, this it what caught my attention.
Amazing service, and the souvlaki was absolutely delicious.
Definitely worth every bite
Felt a bit famished and decided to have a quick souvlaki for a change.
Found 2 pieces of hair from my food and nearly threw up the rest of my meal and that just ruined the whole experience.
Food safety should be number 1 priority and this shouldn't happen at this day and age.
BEST SOUVLAKIS IN THE WORLD AMAZING STAFF ALWAYS PIT A SMILE ON MY FACE COULD EAT THESE BABIES ALL DAY I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE
Came here yesterday with my nephew for lunch.
What a delicious mixed gyros and delicious seasoned fresh chips.
Such a filling and tasty lunch.
Efharisto - Thankyou.
Delicious, fresh souvlaki. One of the most reliable and tasty quick options on the Peninsula. Super-friendly. Support the small businesses and the locals! You need to come here at least once EACH TRIP!
You, or they, either do Souvlakia as best as it can be done, or not. This place does it perfectly as you would expect. Cooked over charcoal the aroma dragged me inside this BBQ heaven. Lamb, chicken, beef all charring away over coal. We ordered a box of lamb & chips Nice! Chips were crispy, that how we like them, the Tajikistan, garlic sauce was exceptional. All the food i would recommend for a taste bud feast. As we drove down from Melbourne city to Portsea for the day, our lunch stop here was worth the money they charged for the delicious BBQ and chips we enjoyed.
Stop in, eat, you'll love it. Take your food across the road and sit by the bay for the view.
I could write soo much about how tasty these souvas are. But you just gotta go in and try one. We had the mixed souva (lamb & chicken), it was packed full and both meats were exceptionally delicious. Yum yum yum yum. Get some!
Very disappointed, the chips were cold. The souvlaki we paid. 50 cents extrs to tzatziki only to get none. Meat was cold off plate and very greasy.
Not happy Jan.
This place is amazing staff are so friendly and professional never disappoint.
There is no other place on the peninsula that comes close, food is so fresh and cooked to perfection thank you for always providing us with great service and hospitality look forward to seeing you guys again soon.
Highly recommended
First and probably last time visiting. Poor customer service and food was not worth the hype for $96.00. Better off at Hector's fish 'n' chips just down the road!
Bought 3 x lamb souvlakia, 1 x veg. The lamb was covered in fat and gristle, basically inedible (see photo).
When ordering (in store), asked for a spanakopita and had the young staff member laugh in my face and ask me, "what's that? " After I pointed to "spanakopita" on their menu, I was advised they don't offer it.
Paid for 2 x large salads, left the store and noticed I was given 2 x small sizes. Returned to swap the salads and again was laughed at, before the staff saying, "I knew I had made a mistake". Nothing was taken very seriously it seemed.
