I am so disappointed with the staff who are supposed to assist patients and instead the only thing they want is money. Everyone works for money but professionalism should come first. If you want a real professional service go elsewhere, I don't recommend it. I lost money and time.

Extremely disappointed in Bayside counselling. I called and emailed my concerns and no response. Since reported the psychologist to AHPRA and they agreed professional performance was below the standard reasonably expected.

This review is about a psychologist at Bayside and not the organisation. I was a patient of Dean Grimshaw for about 10 months for my depression, stress and anxiety relating to a workers comp claim. A few weeks before my court case Dean was subpoenaed to produce my medical records. He refused to produce the records unless he was paid up front ($750). An order was made at the Melbourne Magistrates Court that Dean produce the records within a week. He informed me that he would not do so unless he received payment. I spoke to my solicitor about this and I was informed that if the records are not produced the case would be adjourned for up to 6 months. I had no other option but to pay for the records myself and proceed with the court case. Payment was to be made to Dean Grimshaw in cash. Dean spoke to my solicitor and said that if he is required to appear in court he would need to receive $2,700 before he appeared. An official complaint to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency regarding Dean's conduct and behavior was made. Dean appeared before AHPRA board in relation to the complaint. A letter sent to my solicitor stated that the Board believed Dean acknowledged the issue and would take sufficient steps to avoid repeating this. My solicitor began the process of recouping the highly inflated costs I was charged by Dean Grimshaw for my medical records. After several attempts without communication from Dean, the solicitor passed the matter to the Health Complaints Commissioner for conciliation. The HCC had tried for several months to try and engage Dean in conciliation, but were not able to do so. The HCC then forwarded the matter to VCAT. Dean Grimshaw did not appear at the hearing. In my opinion, dollars before patients with Dean Grimshaw.

Dean gave me some advice on a breathing app which he believed would be available through the Apple Store or Google Play. I went away from my initial consultation with the intention of using the app. But unfortunately the app was not available. I arranged a second consultation through reception, which involved bulk billing. I arrived on the day but Dean refused to see me. He would not accept the bulk billing arrangement. I can only assume that there was a break down in communication between reception and Dean. I would have thought that a resolution could have been found internally, but I was wrong. Dean definitely seems to be about the bottom dollar, which I can only assume at close to $150 hour is a good one! I found him to be a relatively capable therapist, but more interested in earning money from you than in helping you.
