Batesford Reserve reviews
16Very basic playground with expansive sports fields and a community horticultural garden. Not a place I'd actively seek out but the services and activities they run from here are comprehensive.
Great little spot to let the children sit on the grass have a hot chocolate and a bite to eat.
What for the weather you don't want to get caught in the open.
Went here to watch basketball match and spent quite sometimes to let the kids play in the playground.
Beautiful place to gathering such as birthday party in open area. Rest rooms too available. There is neighbourhood community centre for indoor functions and big cricket ground.
Great place, one warning though. There is a shortage of parking on Saturday mornings though, there's just a lot going on at that particular time, while there are a few parks they do all fill up, there's also lots of vague areas where it's not clear if you can park your car or not. It would be nice to see some kind of overflow parking allowed in some of the huge vacant spaces surrounding.
Not the best cricket reserve. Maybe rain played a part. Short boundaries, synthetic pitch best suited to U13 games only.
Large enough playground for the ankle-biters. Tables under leafy pergola. Water fountain. Basketball practice area.
Relatively quiet. Wish there was another wall or we could use the other side of the wall for tennis, basketball or football
Lovely place to take the dog for a walk! Has been pretty empty during covid, unlike most other parks I come across. Only complaint is that it needs more water fountains.
We hosted our end of year team picnic at Batesford Reserve, plenty of shaded or sunny areas for a picnic and the playground kept the kids entertained for hours!
Great reserve with tons of walking, running and work out space. Ideal for social distancing! The reserve itself has tons to offer for all your outdoor needs: play area for the kids, basketball hoops, a few park benches for sitting or eating, and a great lookout area behind the basketball arena. There are also usually a bunch of doggos running around in the area which is great! Near this lookout area, there is a local community garden which is filled with plants, flowers, foods and more! It’s a great initiative to have in place. No complaints from this dog loving Canadian!
The tennis wall is a bit of disappointment. The ground is paved with asphalt, which means slippery, you risk serious injury if you make any big movements. Storm drains and bushes are behind the wall which means the ball can easily disappear.
The playground itself is OK.
It's a good place for dog owners that it allows unleashing your dog's. The one best thing is, there is a water tab there so your dog's can "recharge" anytime there.
Go play!
Small quint little playground just off to the side of the basketball stadium, it has bbq, water stations, a bball half court that has a brick wall to have a hit of tennis against. Perfect for a small gathering and bbq with small kids.
Beautiful park to see the views of the city and go for a walk or jog. Children's playground and cricket oval are in good condition. Drinking taps but no toilets except in the basketball stadium which had a cost to enter. Ask and you might be lucky.
Spectacular place to play with your kids, to do exercise, walk your pets, and help their veggie and fruit community garden! It's such a wonderful idea to be copied in others reserved areas of our big city
