Basfoods Direct Somerton

Great place to buy spices, dried fruits and international foods. They have a good range but not as good as the store in Victoria Street, Brunswick. However, the great customer service provided is a reason to keep returning. I love the varieties of frozen foods also, including cheeses, pastries, etc.

I bought a few things from Basfoods this afternoon. As I approached the cash register I heard the cashier cough and sneeze. I thought this may have been a one off. But she continued to cough and sneeze. I looked at her. Yes, she was wearing a mask, but it was covering only her mouth.
I felt like leaving the trolley and walking out empty handed. But I didn't. Which I now regret.
I hope it wasn't a covid cough.
I'm sure Management of all workplaces have told their workers not to go into work if they are sick.

Wide variety of products from the Middle East and Europe. Prices are average at best. The problem i have with this particular store is the older checkout woman bags items very reluctantly, even after couple prompts instead insisting on payment for goods. After asking her if they were still bagging items she replied "only for you", like she was actually doing us a favour instead of a job she's being paid to do. This has happened on repeated occasions I've attended this store.
If you really want customers to bag their own items i would highly reccommend self-checkout machines. At least i wouldn't have to converse with these sort of bitter workers.

Check products many passed expire dates
Or product expire dates stikers changed
Be wary as you might get health issues

Like any other supermarket minus the abandunce of fresh food. Alot of well priced packaged goods. Also a fair few frozen goods. Large variety. Some utensils. Tea cups, baking trays etc. Will probably find what you're serching for here.

Love this place for bulk food items, they have a vast variety from many countries. They also support the local producers

It was fun shopping, but a customer over there hit my car door and ignored it and when confronted it she lied and was very rude

Lots of choice of continental foods as well as cheap cheeses - frozen veg, fruit, fish and pastries - weekly specials - great value as prices are set as warehouse prices.i visit once a month and save heaps.
