Barwon Heads Hotel reviews
21My friend and I were so excited to go to the BHP but at the door we were refused entry. OUTRAGEOUS! He smelt so bad and once we acknowledged the foul odour he took offence and accused us of making fun of him! Once we tried to tell him we meant no offence he barred us from entry for the week! As a paying customer please hire more secure security guards who can take care of their personal hygiene. I do no appreciate the horrendous smell. Do not step foot within 50 metre of the pub unless you want to lose your nostril senses.
Dropped in for refreshments and a bowel of chips. Busy but not crowded, had a chat with a barman on their own tap and sampled a couple I've never had before, very kind of him. We were outside yet protected from the sun and the wind which made for an enjoyable stopover.
Obviously pumping as it’s holiday season but even still with all the tourists there along with locals the service and food was amazing.
You need to book to get it as they are flat out at this time of yr but worth the visit fir great meals and service.
For pub grub a bit on the expensive side to be honest but overall worth the visit.
Food review only - we ate there this evening and the food came out so fast but was cold. Very disappointing. Lobster special was covered in an overpowering sauce. Lamb was just ok, Nasi Goreng was bland, steak and chips cold and the entree of tiger prawns were straight out of a sub standard warming tray. Service was friendly but the bistro was too noisy for a family dinner. We had a 5.45pm booking. And they were not full at that time.
One of the best hotels in Victoria great customer service and brilliant food we will definitely be returning.
Friendly staff, excellent service and excellent food.we were there with a group of 15 and we had a great lunch.
Went to the BH on Wednesday night, keen for a pub feed. But walked unfortch walked out disappointed. I had the beef burger, which for $24 was expecting more than a homebrand white bun, the chips were good but a sauce wouldn’t go astray.
Came down with the crew for a Parma mid week. Parma was soggy the tomato sauce was so salty and overall not enjoyable. Chips and salad were slay tho. Overpriced for the quality we received.
Lunch with cousins from interstate. Lovely meal. I had the ‘special’ barramundi and greens which was delicious. Staff were so helpful (including taking a photo for us). Good food rating by all.
We love the BHP. The food is delicious, hearty, flavoursome and reasonably priced. The only disappointment we've had was an undressed handful of mixed lettuce as the 'salad. ' The staff are the BEST. So friendly, hospitable, efficient. The dining room is a traditional Aussie pub, a big room, usually lots of kids and families so can be noisy. But that's the type of dining room it is. There are a number of other bars, quiet corners and outdoor areas to choose from.
Great place in the heart of Barwon Heads to meet friends for a few no nonsense drinks and a bit of a catch up. Our last visit was for a surprise birthday, perfect location. Great service and not too pricey.
Good venue. Had king George whiting x2 people which was lovely…90$ total. Salad very basic rocket a sliver of onion AND HALF A CHERRY TOMATO. (Yes half). Pretty SAD
Booked lunch with my family was absolutely wonderful. Great atmosphere, service and food. Great variety to choose from, my kids cleaned their plates.
Lovely birthday dinner at the Barwon Head Hotel last night. Great steak and glass of shiraz - thanks
Good food
Decent prices
Park across the road for the kids … as long as they are good enough while you eat I suppose.
Quite enjoyable
Had lunch here, very disappointing. So overpriced. It's not about the price only, it's what you expect when you pay it. And the meals here are are well below average, got the king George whiting $43. Worst fish meal ever. Wouldn't recommend anything there.
Great tasting food, but very slow on receiving your order, especially the kids meals. 30 minutes is a bit too long. Wasn't that busy.
My husband and I called in there for lunch. We both really enjoyed our meal. Except when I got home I was so sick. Please put on your menu everything that is in your meals.
This is the only pub in town and it right on the water so it’s not going to be cheep. The staff were friendly, and considering how how busy it was they held their cool. Well done
I ordered the mussels - they were great. A little spicy but I liked that. The serve was massive, easily a kilo.
My partner has the King George Whiting - it was a good size serve, she got 3 good size pieces of fish. Also very tasty.
My friend also got the Parma, it looked great and she said it was tasty.
On a previous visit my wife and I had burgers. The chicken was fantastic but the beef a little dry, but still good.
All in all, I would recommend this place
Sorry guys had the surf and turf and it was tastless, the prawns were not good, there was no taste in the sauce and the cabbage slaw did not taste nice. I usually don't write reviews but my wife and I spent $102.00 on two of these meals only to be extremely disappointed. Not worth the money
