Barry's Tutoring

Barry’s crash course is the really worth it! It improved my s3 up to 75! He teaches you what you need to know and not know, and teaches you how to apply them. He teaches you how to go through questions in a logical process, which reveals the fact that Gamsat is not all about how much science you know.

I did Barry’s online course and improved my S3 score from 66 to 78 in 2021. It’s very easy to follow and spot my own previous errors. I am looking into doing another Barry’s online courses and hopefully to improve my S3 score more in 2022:)

Was confident in my abilities for sections one and two but was a total beginner when it came to science as I didn't study it at all in high school - Barry's crash course for section three was amazingly helpful and easy to understand and I ended up in the top 15% of all GAMSAT applicants after expecting to fail the test completely. Would highly recommend Barry's classes! He teaches how to answer questions using the information given, which is what the GAMSAT is actually testing, rather than other courses which may aim to focus more on teaching content. After attending his course, I felt very prepared when sitting my first GAMSAT, and my section 3 mark was very thankful for it.

I would highly recommend Barry's Tutoring for a number of reasons. Barry very clearly identifies the skills that you need to know for section three which helps with streamlining what skills you personally need to practice. Barry also demonstrates how those skills can interact with each other, particularly with numerical reasoning skills. He also clearly demonstrates what is meant by verbal reasoning and illustrates a strategy for developing those skills. He also shows you legitimate shortcuts that still require full understanding of the question but assist you in solving questions more efficiently and quickly. As well, Barry demonstrates how to identify when assumed knowledge was necessary to solve a question and explains the assumed knowledge that was needed (which thank-fully, was not as often as you think!) Barry's countenance is an added bonus. He is genuinely friendly, helpful and truly invested in seeing his students understand the skills and to excel.

Barry’s an amazing tutor, I was able to improve my GAMSAT section 3 by 8 points to get a score of 69! He’s super thorough with his teaching and has great exam techniques. He is also well prepared for each lesson and makes everyone feel super comfortable. Couldn’t recommend him more!

Barry could not have been more helpful in teaching me how to approach Section 3 GAMSAT questions. After being disappointed in my first sitting, Barry not only was able to explain science topics I was struggling with (especially chemistry and physics), but showed how to answer questions logically. I would highly recommend Barry's section 3 webinar to assist with GAMSAT preparation. I improved my section 3 mark by 7 points between September and March sittings after watching the video. This was quite significant after coming from a NSB. Barry provides accessible and concise strategies for approaching the questions and improving timing, at a reasonable price.

Barry helped me a lot with my S3 preparation. I loved the webinars and added a few 1: 1 sessions closer to the exam to work through problems that stumped me. He does a great job of helping you spot the patterns and how to solve questions where you are unlikely to have studied that particular topic before (which was really important in the March 2018 sitting). My 2018 S3 score was 15 points higher than my 2009 result. Oh, and he's patient and super-friendly too:)

I used Barry for GAMSAT tutoring this year and he was an exceptional tutor, clearly the best out of multiple section 3 tutor's I had previously tried. Barry knows the solution to every practise question and can explain them in an easy to understand way with great metaphors!
