There’s an older review warning everyone to stay away from Barry Plant Essendon when it comes to leasing a property and I wish I had listened to that review. I urge any prospective landlords to do themselves a massive favour and find another agent. I randomly decided to go to my property to check the mail over the long weekend and was shocked to discover that the sliding door to the balcony was left completely open. It was over the long weekend and was raining, if the last inspection was on the Wednesday, it could have potential been open for a week until the next inspection if I had not gone there on the Friday. If animals, rain etc had damaged my apartment who would have been liable for the damages? There was also a fly screen that locks so they left that open as well as the sliding door. It shows the leasing agent lacks care when showing properties and I lost all trust and faith in them as an agency. I had to go back to clean the apartment and when I opened the sliding door it wouldn’t lock anymore. I have lived in the property previously for almost 5 years and had no issues, a few weeks with Barry Plant Essendon and now the door wasn’t locking. I had to call a locksmith who came to fix it, the screws had loosened as the door has been slammed shut. I sent them the call out fee invoice which they refuse to pay claiming I am blaming them, inappropriately accusing them, that their agents don’t slam doors (just leave them open) and that it’s to do with wear and tear. Interesting that wear and tear can happen over a few weeks. Avoid at all costs.
