Banksia Park reviews
60Nice, big and quiet park beside a busy road. Especially loved the Japanese Cherry Grove where you could see beautiful Japanese Cherry Blossoms during Spring. Learned that the cherry blossoms trees were donated by the Japanese government and are currently maintained by the volunteers. Saw a few Japanese volunteers working tirelessly maintaining the trees while I was there over the weekend. Saw a few types of trees. Will be great if there are signage indicating the various types. Most of the cherry blossoms trees are already budding. Excited to make a trip back again in Spring to view the beautiful Cherry Blossoms.
Really lovely natural park space, space to BBQ, walk dogs or pop in next door to visit the Sculpture park.
Nice place for a family picnic.
It’s got even fire place which is nice in winter.
Also the undercover bench is a day saver in the rain!
I really enjoyed walking around Heide Modern Musuem of Art Grounds. I took photos with My Canon E. O. S 600D Camera.
Great open space. There is a museum/gallery and a cafe/restaurant- didn't get to either. Just enjoyed a picnic in the grounds. Great place to catch up while socially distancing.
This park is good for a nice walk especially after a meal at the Heidi Museum cafe. There is a fenced dog off the leash area but it isn't huge and is often busy. The kids play area is ok and there are a few manual BBQ sites. The toilets though are atrocious. If your walking in summer just be careful of snakes as I've seen plenty down here UPDATE: Forgot to mention that there is a covered picnic area and also there is a cherry tree garden. I just wish the contracts could cut the grass a bit more often as it does get a bit long.
Gorgeous gardens. Very peaceful and relaxing place. Interesting modern sculptures scattered throughout the grounds.
Good setting with lots of walking paths.
Has been (very) gradually improved over the past few years. But maintenance seems to always be a bit hit and miss.
Enclosed dog area remains one of the largest and most used of any in the Eastern or North-Eastern suburbs.
There is no facility for waste disposal; only a very small minority of dog owners follow the instructions to take their waste away.
** Although unlikely if lots of people are around, be aware of snakes throughout the whole park during the Summer months.
Fun outdoor sculpture park for young and older alike, nestled by the bank of the Yarra River. Bring a picnic if the weather is good.
Huge space. Great for a stroll in nature with family and friends, even furry friends. Also a wonderful spot for Forest Bathing.
Very nice walking tracks, with some by the river. Heidelberg Art Gallery with its sculpture garden is right next door. The sculpture garden is free so we often include it in our walks.
Wonderful, massive park with lots of great picnic spots and scattered art pieces. Perfect for a Sunday arvo session.
Fully enclosed dog park. Great fun for your furry friend. Would recommend visiting during non-peak hours as getting in and out can be tricky.
Beautiful spot for a walk, visit the nearby Heide museum of modern art gardens for a look at some interesting art pieces. Some paths can get flooded out but this is well worth a visit.particularly in spring when flowers are blooming.
A wonderful place to visit during cherry blossom time, but I am sure also great to visit at any other time thru the year.
Fantastic park.except narrow road and no where near enough parking. Unless you get here early forget about getting a parking spot.
Council really needs to lift it's game and use our rates more effectively.
Nice place for picnic but cafe onsite is quite expensive, not many options and staff behaviour is not so well
Beautiful park alongside with Yarra river at Banksia Park Buller. In late September to middle of October, that is the best time to enjoying the blooming Sakura. (also call cherry trees)
In February 1980 the Japanese Government donated 100 flowering cherry trees to the people of Victoria to mark the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister Mr Masayoshi Ohira.
When you planning to visit the park, make sure to choose a beautiful sunny day for your photos if you wish for keep those picturesquely in your memory.
A unique park with various artistic sculpture and artwork next to the natural flow of Yarra river.
A lovely riverside park alongside the river and abuts the famous Heide gallery with equally lovely gardens. Easy walks, good parking and fenced dog area. Very popular at weekends. Cherry trees with abundant blossom in October is enough reason to join the throngs of picnickers and Japanese folk yearning for home
