Bánh Xèo Tay Do Vietnamese Restaurant

Tucked away in a shopping centre, this place hands down is one of the best banh xeo (savoury pancake) I've eaten.
The banh xeo is very crispy and filled with condiments and very delicious greens on the side.
We also had banh beo which I must say delivered well especially the rice flour proportion with the toppings.

This restaurant is owned and run by a Vietnamese husband and wife. So please be mindful when there is two people only running the show and full house, food can come out slow. BUT worth the wait!

This place I would always return if I'm craving for sizzling hot pancake.

Small husband and wife owned and run restaurant in the heart of Footscray. The food is delicious, authentic and well portioned. Although the wait times for food can be relatively slow, It’s understandable given that it’s only this duo doing all the work. You can also tell that they set high standards for the food they serve to their guests.

Important to note that opening hours are a guide only, and they sometimes have issues with their burners, which the husband fixes himself, that prevents them from opening early.

Like most great local unassuming restaurants its also Cash Only, so if you’re planning a visit make sure you have some on you.

Delicious food. I would say it is very authentic way of Vietnamese cuisine. Every time I come here, the food remind me of my childhood. However, please expect waiting time can be up to 1 hour as the restaurant runs by 2 people (owners). Sometimes it is tough if you are having hungry stomach.

Have been their customer from the very start. Im actually really happy that they r still here after the epidemic period.
I rarely eat Southern Viet food in Melb but this is an exception. I keep coming back, even when I live in Brunswick now, u can see how much I like it They make the best bánh bèo in town. And the dipping sauces also on point, not too sweet like other places. Generous potion (applies to take-away too). Friendly service. Last but not least, the tastes don’t change at all after years. Good job! Pls keep it up?

One of the best places we have been to in a while! Very authentic Vietnamese food - even though the food takes a bit of time, it is 100% worth the wait for freshly cooked food. I am very excited to come back and try everything else on the menu:)

Had a really lovely experience here! The banh xeo was so fresh and crispy! Loved the steamed rice cakes and pork vermicelli salad. Everything tasted delicious and very fresh! The owners are so lovely and had a nice time chatting to them. Everything is homemade from the sauces to making their own blended tea! Will definitely come back.

Absolutely amazing restaurant. The food is freshly made to order and the owners took their time to show us how to best eat it! First time eating Vietnamese pancakes and it couldn’t have been a better experience. The couple running this place is friendly and very welcoming. Hidden gem tucked away in a quiet mini-mall in Footscray, Melbourne. The husband & wife team provide authentic Vietnamese food. It felt the kind of food that my mum and dad would make at home. You can tell they really take care and pride in what comes out of the kitchen. The menu isn't huge so you know whatever is coming out the kitchen is going to be good.

Had dine in on Saturday at 6pm, and had the Banh Beo Chen & Banh Khot + two drinks. Both dishes were incredible. The owners are also very friendly which is a huge plus and the food is very affordable.

Give this place a chance, you won't regret it! Can't wait to come back to Melbourne and try other dishes on the menu.

Banh xeo is crispy. Good portions. The Nuoc mam was great. The flans were also delicious.

Hidden gem in Melbourne for Banh Xeo, Banh Khot, Banh Bot Loc. Run by a lovely elder couple, waiting time a little bit long but the meal tastes heavenly. The restaurant owners are very careful, they clean the table and organise the dishes professionally, they paid full attention to their work

This little gem in Footscray is a must visit for authentic Banh xeo and Banh Beo. Uncle and Aunty’s cooking skills brings me back to Phan Thiet, Vietnam.crunchiness if the Banh Xeo to the right balance of the nuoc mam. Highly recommend

Best Bang Xeo in Melbourne, very crispy and flavourful. All the ingredients are super fresh and great quality. The owner is super friendly explained to us about the ingredients in the dishes.

Highly recommended if you are not in a rush. (Bit of a wait- prob cause they make everything from scratch)

The food here is phenomenal. Everything comes out fresh and crispy.

Now before you make your way there, this store is run by a couple of husband/wife. So, expect a wait once you've put your order in.

We waited roughly 20 minutes before the food came out.

I would love to come here again and give it a 5 star mark, however, for me personally, I prefer quicker wait times. So it's just missing one star.

I'm definitely coming back though. One of my favourite banh xeos in Melbourne.
