Banh Mi Bakery & Cafe reviews
37 Hands down the best banh mi I've ever had
They are my go-to lunch after class!
First of all, they have a great range of options from the classic meats to vegetarian/vegan options. The pricing is also by far the best I've seen in Melbourne.
Next, the bread they use to make the banh mi is AMAZING (probably because they're also a bakery). They have thick and crunchy pickled radish (which both me and my mum are absolutely obsessed with), they're generous with their servings of fillings, AND they're really good at customising your banh mi to your personal taste.
Can't wait to go again sometime
Staff was difficult and unfriendly. Asked for a chicken banh mi without pate, given pork with pate, went back again and was given a chicken with pate and a side of bad attitude.
Not sure how such a simple order can be messed up more than once like that
I got the full house special roll which had a bunch of different meat in it for $10.50.
The meat was pretty good, but it was a bit in the milder side in terms of flavour. The crispiness is good, though I’d like it if the pork skin was a bit crispier. The vegetables were very delicious, I prefer it over the meat as it tasted fresh and had more flavour. I didn’t really like the bread a lot, it just tasted like normal bread, not really having the freshness and flavour of other places i’ve been to. But to be fair I came in the late afternoon so maybe the ingredients weren’t as fresh as in the mornings.
Overall it’s decent and maybe I’ll come earlier to see if it tastes better.
If I could give 6 stars I would. Very lovely staff who gives generous servings everytime. An affordable place to get authentic bahn mi that's delicious.
Full house special is the best of all worlds with all their different meat inside. The bun is lightly crispy on the outside and the vegetables inside make it refreshing and gives it a good mix.
Delicious and inexpensive. I ordered chicken bbq this time and really like it. Will be coming back to try the pork banh mi.
I used to go here when out east.the lady makes a chicken schnitzel burger to die for. Just a little bakery. Probably Coles chicken breast used compared to my home made thigh affair.alas, this bakery schnitties on my efforts. Deep fried, gorgeous bun and onion (red) and lettuce + mayo- all with a smile.
Got the combo roast pork and fresh lemon iced tea (plus kumquat). It is so delicious & priceable, fresh & crispy pork be chopped when you r ordering. By the end of the meal I was planning the next visit to try other options.
This place does one of the Best Banh Mi's in Melbourne, I am a regular visitor to the bakery and cannot get enough. Keep up the great work team!
The bread is not the freshest or very crispy, the meat was a little too fatty, and there was no space to sit, but it was still fairly tasty and the size was decent
Best banh mi, best value, welcoming workers.
Although sacrilige to the vigilant banh mi enthusiast, their vegan duck rolls are 10/10 as is their normal chicken rolls. Love the inclusion of pickled radish in rolls too.
Crispy roast pork banh mi lovely. And so cheap. She made me a hot Vietnamese coffee too. Delicious.
Decent banh mi for lazy locals.
The banh mi is serviceable for those who are craving banh mi and don’t want to make the journey to Springvale.
Reasonably priced at around $6-7.
3 criterias for a good Banhmi,
1. Crusty bread with soft centre
2. Be generous with the filling especially the meat
3. Flavour, Tasty meat and we'll pickled veggies
Ordered the Full House and it delivered on all 3 points for me!
This used to be one of my favourite place for pork roll with generous serving and good flavour. The serving portion is constantly minimum recently and barely any source in it.bbq pork and roasted pork quality is going downhill with all the fatty bits. Not worth the money and waiting time anymore.
Great pricing, excellent vegan options, fresh and delicious. The amount of filling in the rolls is just right. The home made lemon ice tea is to die for.
Some of the negative reviews here are extremely harsh and I think there is a double standard between what is expected of Vietnamese cuisine (for a very cheap price) compared to any other.
Trust me guys, you have to try either of these pork roll or barbeque pork roll, from here, my partner, our 2 girls and i get a bbq pork roll without fail every week.
My 2 girls n i have butter, lettuce, carrot, a little bit of spring onion, bbq sauce and bbq pork, my partner loves to have paté as well on his. Try one of our favourites or choose your own toppings, they also have a wide array of ready made hot meals available which our 2 girls love their hotdogs. Give them a try today, You wont be dissapointed.
I love their cheap banh mi.for 6 bucks their portions are massive and they do not charge extra if you ask for more toppings.their bread tastes very fresh too
It was so good and was just like what we had in Vietnam. Very affordable and worth for the price you pay
One of the best budget eats in Clayton, their banh mi rolls are inexpensive, filling and delicious. Highly recommend their roast pork roll ($7) and their potato cake ($1)! The ladies working there are lovely as well ~
Tried vietnamese pork rolls all over Melbourne. These guys are still by far the best by miles. Generous stuffing as well unlike other shops. I would eat here every day if I could stomach that much white bread.
