Balha's Pastry reviews
86Best sweet shop in Melbourne by far, I would consider myself a foodie having tried various Lebanese sweet shops but Balhas pastry always have me coming back for more. Favourite is Znoud elset
The desserts here are delicious. Great service and very friendly staff. Highly Recommended!
It has one of the greatest vibes. It has nice toilets. Heaps of Vegetarian options. There is seating indoor in the ground floor or in the top floor. There is nice outdoor seating where you can enjoy Sydney street vibes
Just this afternoon I went there with my Asian friends the customer service was very racist and rude. We wanted to have our baklava and coffee as dine-in but she said we will get charged extra because “you going to mess up the table”. She doesn’t know how to talk to customers, clearly needs more training on basic manners and tact.
If the manager sees this review please follow up with your staff.
One of my favourite places. The beautiful & humble kindness of the staff is my feel good sugar high. Alhamdulillah
A Must-Visit for Baklava Lovers
I recently stumbled upon Balha's Pastry and it's now my go-to spot for Middle Eastern sweets. Their baklavas are exceptional! Both the pistachio and cashew varieties are packed with flavor and have that perfect crunch.
Make sure to look for Jacob when you visit. He's a friendly guy who really makes the experience even more enjoyable. Balha's Pastry is a gem - can't recommend it enough!
I bought Mamoul and baklava. The baklava was great but the mamoul smells like soap and the smell is so strong so that you can’t ignore it.
This place is a heaven of sweets, providing high-quality and deliciously delightful middle eastern sweets at reasonable prices for the sweet tooth. The service is quick, and the staff is very friendly, happy to help at all times.
Amazing quality all round, my coffee was perfection and pastries were off the scale. Staff are sweethearts and ill be back soon.
Great selection of sweets, great coffee and upstairs dining area. Also has a small prayer room
Delicious, freshly made pastries in all shapes and sizes. The takeaway platters are great value and always a hit for dinner parties. Good vibes, friendly service, also do nice coffee and ice cream.
I was taking a stroll on Sydney road after a class - to burn off the indulgent food I’d been eating. About 50 metres into my walk I discovered this place and was in Lebanese heaven. It was like the Lebanese version of an Indian barfee shop. As we walked in, a good looking boy (Kalhid) offered us a couple of sweets to taste and I ended up buying half a kilo. Yes they sell them by the kilo ️ They were all very crisp, fresh and tasty. I’ll be back for sure - mostly for the sweets & maybe the boy.
The baklava is good, but the customer service need to be more diplomatic when serving the people.
The lady at the checkout was not ready to listen to me while I tried explaining to her what I want. Although there were no many people inside. She kept interrupting me several times while I tried to explain to her what I want.
Very disappointing.
The knafeh is cold and cheese not melted
Even after microwave
This shop is used to be much much better
Khalid was amazing, friendly and served with a smile. We have been visiting Balha’s regularly. The service and the sweets are unmissable!
Authentic Arabic sweet house on Sydney road. All sorts of baklavas and kanafa plus halal cakes. Very nice presentation and customer service. All sweets are fresh and tasty.
Wow super super delicious to many choice.friendly staff. First time try kunafa. We buy 2 slides cheese and 1 slide cream very very delicious.
Stopped next to this shop by a chance, thought to have coffee and some sweets there. Coffee was good, sweets not bad as well.
What I was not impressed with these were their prices. They charged for coffee more then $5 and small nest sweet which is for one bite was $5 as well, another small sweet was even more expensive. So, it is definitely overpriced.
Delicious baklava and other Lebanese sweets! I particularly enjoyed the Znoud El Sit, which I tried for the first time, but you can't go wrong with the Walnut Baklava and Pistachio Baklava.
The upstairs seating is nice and quiet (wasn't too busy when we went at around 4pm on a Saturday).
Make sure you buy a few (or a lot) to take home with you!
Honestly, best pastries in Melbourne. We have tried places in Brunswick, Northcote, Caulfield, Oakleigh. We first started coming to Balha’s in their little store on the other side of Sydney Road 25+ years ago!
Balha’s pastries are crunchy and sweet, but never too sweet. Their balance of sweetness in their syrup are perfect. And they have a fantastic range. You can’t say you can’t find one favourite here. We have many favourites.
Staff are friendly. But be patient because they get really, really busy on some days!
