BackBeach Pizza / Sage Sorrento reviews
52 Worst place in Sorrento. Stuff is unprofessional and rude. Told us that all tables are booked so we had to order takeaway and find a place to eat nearby. By the waiting time I saw that people coming and sitting without reservations. A girl with ugly fake lashes was very rude and not pleasant. Pizza for kids was burnt! Chef didn’t care about it at all, just served it to us. After we complained about it they asked to return burned pizza to them as a proof, otherwise as “fake lashes girl” said: “You have to pay for another one! ” Apparently photo of burnt pizza is not enough for them as a proof of making a horrible food. And after all they didn’t even apologise.
Shame.
Restaurant is simply using busy times for making money, zero afford! Hope Sage Pizza place will not last long!
Just read other reviews (not fake ones) looks like everyone had issues with a manager and stuff. It’s a time to change something guys. One day you can roll your eyes to a wrong person and got some not nice experience back…
Honestly the food was great. So appalled by the (what seems to be the managers) service. Not friendly at all, or apologetic when we found PLASTIC in our pizza…. Seemed like a common occurrence as she wasn’t surprised at all…. Wasn’t expecting a refund but at least an apology. Didn’t even get a sorry. $80 for two drinks and two pizzas (with plastic on it). Seems quite unreasonable to me.
Had a great night at Back Beach Pizza. Food was excellent. Calamari was tasty and perfectly cooked. The best chips ever. Pizzas were really good especially the Margarita with salami. Lovely salad. Tiramisu to die for. Good wine list at reasonable prices. Friendly, attentive staff, lovely open fire. Looking forward to summer in the courtyard.
Good pizza, lots of great choices however the service wasn’t great. We called 8 times and no one answered. Drove down to order.
Overall not bad.
Great little pizza place just outside the craziness of main street Sorrento. The pizzas were absolutely delicious. I'd suggest either getting there for an early dinner or booking as it fills up quickly!
Where do I start the service here is below average the waitress was forgetting what was on the menu and lacked professionalism. In contrast with the sub par service the food quality is great. Over the three pizzas I tasted I loved each in a unique way. The food quality makes up for the service and would definitely recommend coming here.
Absolutely terrible customer service. Empty tables inside and out and could not be seated for two. Also requested takeaway and was told over 1 and half hours wait.
Do not waste your time or bother with this place! Staff need consider their business practices to address people with manners rather than rudeness!
Seven of us dined at Back beach Pizza tonight. The experience was pretty disappointing, all up. First up, the pizzas that arrived were, to be fair, really good. However, one of the pizzas did not arrive, so the person waiting for his pizza had to watch us all finish our pizzas before his arrived. Now, accidents happen, I get that. Staff are young and difficult to recruit, but when we flagged this up with the manager upon going to pay the bill, she tried to deflect blame. We also pointed out that the wine we had ordered (a New Zealand Pinot Noir) was not the one bought to the table. Instead we were given a Peninsula Pinot Noir-a mistake we did not realise until we had poured the wine. We didn’t make a big fuss about this and drank the wine (not bad, but not what we wanted. Served too warm) but the problem came when we went to pay the bill. The manager tried to blame new staff and busy night for the errors. She asked who brought the wine and we pointed out it was her. We asked if there could be some compensation for the delayed food. We were told that the owner won’t allow this. In a service industry this poor attitude to good customer service is fairly contemptuous. Will not return.
This is from Back Beach Pizza, the review below from Tim in Melbourne below has been placed on our site and others by the same patron who was asked to leave our restaurant, he attended with the Sorrento Gallery in a large group of which he was not invited, he was aggressive towards our female staff and had clearly had too much to drink, his review is aimed at hurting our amazing following, its a shame that people take to this sort of attack and we have no way of protecting ourselves, anybody reading this, only need to scroll down and see our real reviews.
Delicious delicious pizza & highly rate this place overall. Staff were warm, welcoming and down to earth. Kid friendly & cosy atmosphere. The cocktails were great too. Highly recommend this Sorrento pizza small business & please support local it’s been a rough few years
Nice service here. Welcoming.
I can't recall not wanting to finish or should I say unable to finish a pizza before.
I ordered the only chicken pizza on the menu. It was bizarre. It had Luke warm crispy chips on it And uncooked passata, not tomato paste.
My partner ordered a vegetarian pizza and couldn't finish it.
And we ordered a garlic pizza just in case and that wasn't finished.
As others mentioned, mediocre pizzas, I personally enjoyed the mushroom one, the rest were bland and some were burned. Would have been a 3-4 star review had it not been for the rude manager (again as others have said), he was condescending on multiple occasions and asked for a tip at payment. What a joke.
Best pizza on the peninsula! Proper Italian wood fired pizza and lovely owners! Highly recommend!
Faultless casual birthday dinner, great vibe, perfect pizzas, great service, super friendly. Love love love this place.
Saw this cute woodfire pizza joint on the corner of the road and thought we would give it a try.
Pizza dough and pizza itself was super light. We got the mushroom + truffle pizza. All was good until later that night. I ended up getting gastro from here. Never again.
Pizza really not great sadly, ordered takeaway. Pizza tasted like pita bread with a little bit of sauce. Very expensive for the quality of pizza
On a positive note service was fast
Good pizza and good service. They were under staffed and super busy. But still able to get us what we wanted.
Blown away by the service, charming host and incredibly generous! Wonderful experience, delicious wine and fabulous pizzas. Couldn’t ask for more!
Was pretty terrible. I went there to order takeaway and was told to leave and go to another restaurant around the corner. There were 5 or so people trying to order takeaway and we were all stood outside waiting 10 minutes before told we couldn’t order.
Worst pizza ever! They got my order wrong, overarched us by $14 (we only realised that when we got to our apartment), the pizza was cold and soggy and the service wasn’t friendly (slightly patronising).
