Bababoi Kitchen & Bar - Malaysian Nyonya Cuisine

I had Nasi goreng and nasi lemak takeaway, and my order was ready as soon as I arrived. The food was delicious and very authentic, speaking from a Malay person. Great location, only 7min walk from the Melbourne convention centre

Had the nasi goreng and otak otak. Just a quick review but nasi was ok. There is no otak otak recipe that uses a roast whole fish though, so that wasn’t quite Nyonya.

Fantastic prices with generous portions. Place has a rustic decor and serves delicious food with prompt service.

Stopped in for a quiet lunch. The roti was melt-in-the-mouth delicious and the nasi lemak was amazing.

This restaurant is super convenient, close to the expensive ones by the river, but with one big difference, the meal is very good value. I ordered Assam pedals and it was super aromatic with delicious citrus flavours. My partner had the Nasi goreng and it was amazing and soft. So, it you are at the DFO, just cross the bridge and you will find it super easy. Highly recommended.

So delicious! But be careful, it can be spicy. We took friends who've never eaten malaysian food before and loved it. Friendly and quick service. Will come back, especially for the nyonya chicken (Ayam buah keluak)

Fantastic value for the money and great taste. Tried out the curry laksa with fried chicken. Absolutely delicious and will definitely come back many times.

Went here for midweek lunch with a mate. Ordered curry chicken with rice Service was on point. Food was fresh and delicious.
Prices were great as well.
Would recommend this place if you are close to South DFO.

This place is way underrated, just across the bridge from General Essembly and the food is authentic Malaysia, really really good

Theyre "usually" fine with my delivery orders. But sometimes they take too long and i just end up cancelling. Decided it would be faster if i just cooked rather than starve to death

Usually good but I ordered vegetarian nasi lemak this week through Uber Eats which was a bad experience. I have ordered the same before on Uber Eats and they've always delivered but this time instead of sambal they gave me Sriracha chilli sauce. As a Malaysian, I was appalled and very disappointed. Thankfully was refunded by Uber Eats. Not ordering from here again.

Ordered a Nonya Chicken Curry and Beef Rendang - both were an oily mess. I understand that curry can split however, these were congealed. Honestly, the worst malaysian food I’ve eaten in Melbourne.

The only way I could connect it to being MaIaysian was from distant memories of a boat journey I once took on the Straights of Malacca - a similar amount of oil was being discharged from the back of the boat.

There was enough palm oil floating on top of the Beef rendang that I could saved several orangutans by not ordering it.

Terrible service. Ordered food from doordash but only to be cancelled an hour later. Completely irresponsible.

Came here on a whim a few years ago, and to this day recommend to all my friends. The sheer quality, value and freshness of the food is unparalleled and authentic! Nothing starts off your afternoon lunch, dinner or finishing off your night after downing some drinks with the crew like this place does! 10/10 would Bababoi again!

Babi Assam is the best there. Ayam Buah kelak is just the paste not actual buah kelak in a stew. Fried rice and nasi Lemak were good too. Esp the sambal. Roti with the chickpea curry also decent and not too spicy.

Thanks Bababoi for offering an exceptional service during this lockdown. Ordered their fried chicken, Ayam Kapitam, lobak and Nasi Lemak. The portions are so generous to feed a family of 6. A beautiful meal at home without leaving home, thanks for the free delivery!

Generous serving sizes, but utterly devoid of any discernible flavour. The only redeeming element of the entire order was the small container of condensed milk accompanying the roti manis. I would have been better off making the two minute noodles in my pantry.

Only tried their Malaysian style coffee (The white one). Seemed a bit different to me. It was really strong! In Short, I liked it. But the problem is, if you are there to take away, they do not provide takeaway cups (I had my own mug: p). Before that they offered to give that in a soup pot). But the taste was good and really helped me to stay awake that night. Remains open till midnight.

Terrible! After 1 hour wait, I got my fried 5 spice chicken that was off. It had a weird smell and texture. They were kind enough to cancel it off my check. Hence 1 star
