Azabu Juban / Japan's Kitchen reviews
49Cool n groovy n Delux delicious, too. Excellent late night dinner after a movie. Good wines, great whiskey, and service to match. Excellent
Nice atmosphere, easy casual Japanese food. Staff are pleasant and very helpful. Accommodated my booking mishap without any fuss. My guests & I enjoyed our shared plates.
Fantastic food and great wait staff. Haven’t been here in a while because of COVID but glad to be back. Food is amazing and the drink selection is too.
Try the yuzu chuhai
Great place for a quiet dinner. Small quaint and great service. Also a range of cocktails to complement the cuisine.
Popular restaurant. Food was fantastic, especially the miso-style eggplant. Yes, the portions are smaller - but able to try lots of their interesting dishes
Would never go there again. Limited menu. Tiny food portions. Told us "it's a bar and they're only tasting plates". Really poor value for money.
The eggplant was the star dish. Hence why we didn't take a photo of it. The root chips were also pretty nice.
We love this restaurant. Great atmosphere, the service is great, fantastic drinks list, love the cocktails. And of course the food is YUMMMM
We really enjoyed everything we ate, the gyoza were delicious, sashimi melt in the mouth, crispy chicken was amazing, the stand out for us was the salmon. Its making my mouth water as I write about it. And the owner is a warm & wonderful lady.
Really excited to try this out but it ended up being a disappointing experience. First main served before our drinks, no water offered and to cap it off our third main was served 30 minutes after the second. Dishes and drinks are also really expensive for the portion serving even for Japanese food standards.
*Update*
Returned after a number of years. Happy to note they've much improved. Really enjoyed the food and drinks that's on offer this time. Highly recommend the gobou chips and Sapporo on tap.
Delicious food I can eat every day. Staff are very friendly and take care of customers. The take away food helped me during lockdown. Looking forward to eating in their restaurant again.
Can’t say enough good thing about this place. Excellent Japanese grocery selection and the okonomiyaki and curry kits really are amazing. They even gave me instructions for how to make dashi when I rang them up to ask!
Super friendly staff and amazing food/cocktails. Black Karaage chicken was the standout for me.
Tonight we decided to order in and wow what an experience. We have been fans of Japan’s Kitchen (Azabu Juban) since the beginning. The presentation and flavour was just as good as dining in the best restaurant in Yarraville. Tasty Agadashi Tofu, crunchy Karaage chicken with rice and to finish off a perfect main, the famous Silly Chilli Prawn Gyoza. Love love love the food and professional service experience.
First time at this wonderful restaurant last night, the food was delicious and the cocktails dangerously divine! The staff were very lovely too, which rounded out our experience quite nicely. Would definitely return and highly recommend!
Great little Japanese place / bar here. Nice selection of beers and authentic food to match. Got a seat at the bar by walking in on a Saturday at 6pm easy. Otherwise was full. Wasabi salad and Gyoza were delicious. Had high hopes for the miso sword fish but was too sweet for the size of the serve.
I've been here a few times now and everytime I find a new favourite thing. The food is fresh and so flavourful in sometimes unexpected ways, I find myself delighted whenever I order a new dish. You can tell there's a lot of care put into what is served here. The drinks are amazing and so varied, definitely something for everyone here. The staff are attentive but not overbearing and extremely polite. Every few months I find myself craving a visit here and am never disappointed with what I find.
Very impressed by this tiny Japanese restaurant / bar. We mainly had the vegetarian items. Best gyoza I have ever had. Everything is beautifully presented and a refreshing change from the usual sushi restaurants.
Had a great meal, interesting twists on japanese classics. The teriyaki beef was cooked to perfection, and the wasabi salad is a must try. Great suave bar decor, and a good spot to sit outside if you have a small table.
Our waiter, Joel, reccomended some really tasty sweet potato beers. He was extremely helpful with the menu and gave exceptional service!
Love this place. It's by far my most favorite restaurant in Melbourne. Excellent food, service and quality Japanese whiskeys.
Really good Japanese and Japanese inspired dishes. The menu is very clever and funny and the staff are very attentive and nice. Some of the portions can be quite small for the price, but everything we tried was delicious and high quality.
