Favourite go to bakery for cakes for the family especially my parents. Been going for years, traditional, reliable, no bells and whistles, always delicious, light, fresh, perfectly sweet and great value. Our favourites are the William Pear Torte and the Blackforest!

I bought a cheese cake from Aviv on Friday for my wifes birthday dinner on Friday night. It was very poor. It wasn't cheesy, very dry and quite frankly embarrassing to serve to the guests. It cost $40 and mostly went uneaten. I will never go near them again.

You just have to visit Aviv if you can. It's a landmark on that side of Melbourne. You just have to see it for yourself

We visit Aviv frequently, and their offerings are always delicious. I hope they maintain their high quality and excellent service when they open their new store, a few doors down. Absolute must-visit place in Elsternwick Village.

Never disappointed with the vanilla slice cake! A special mention to the lady that served me today, went above & beyond. Much appreciated!

Super delicious coffee puffs! Sweet but not greasy, with a hint of coffee aroma, and the filling is very filling and delicious
The lemon tart is awesome! It’s worth trying, it’s moderately sour and just right sweet, and the tart crust is crispy and great!
It's delicious and I want to buy another one when I get home

You need more staff on a Sunday aviv! C’mon! Or perhaps just serve cakes & don’t serve coffee when you have a line 15 deep out the door& inside!

I totally love this place. Having been brought up in a European home I am familiar with all the baked goods they sell. They are all of the highest standard and of the most authentic quality. It's always busy, but there is enough staff to quickly and efficiently serve you. ️

Aviv is the all time favourite local shop. The traditional taste made with the best ingredients sustains its reputation.

Fabulous quality. A great selection of delicious cakes and pastries. The Xmas mince tarts are the best in the known universe and the coffee eclairs are better than in Paris.

Food quality is very good, sadly service is missing, some staff members need to be re-educated in interpersonal skills,

Amazing cakes and pastries! I've been going here for years and their cakes are always high quality. The William Pear Torte is a favourite of mine (and my family) ; we always get it for celebrations! I've tried their vanilla slices and quiches and they are both delicious. My only criticism is that the pastry on the vanilla slice is very thick which makes it a little difficult to eat. Aside from that, Aviv is a great bakery and I highly recommend it!

Nice cakes. WORST service! I asked for my pastries to be warmed up and was told it can't be done as they were too busy- I was the only customer in store! Never going back there again

My most favourite bakery in Melbourne. Friendly staff and delicious cakes and biscuits. No birthday party in my family is complete without an Aviv cake

If Aviv cakes and bakery ever needs soldiers to defend it I will be there. Sword in scabbard, hand ready on the hilt.

A friend with a discerning palate recommended Aviv to me after I had a bad babka experience elsewhere. Their chocolate babka is PERFECTION. The texture! The folds! The chocolate is good quality, and not cloying. These people aren't kidding around. In my opinion it exceeds Russ and Daughters' babka (which is the best babka in NYC).

I admit I found the price high but sometimes even I am wrong. It is worth every penny!

Aviv i have left Melbourne for the time being but one day. ONE DAY. I will be back.

Delicious pastries, the vegetable pastie was so good! If you're vegetarian and looking for lunch definitely worth dropping in grabbing a bite and chatting to the lovely staff.

Called the bakery when we were on the way to confirm they had quiches left. The lady on the phone mentioned there were 4 large pies left and that they close at 1pm, so we rushed to get there before 1pm. We arrived at exactly 12.56pm (4 minutes before close) and they were already closed.

I love the variety, selection and quality of food at Aviv. There's a good mix of savoury and sweet items, and you can always find something to buy to satisfy a craving or to organise a work lunch/party or whatever. Their bagels aren't my favourite, but they have great quiches, and often at work we get their cakes for various occasions and they never disappoint.
However.with all of that said, the only real negative I can say is that they are a tad overpriced and to me, it lets them down. I also happened to buy a birthday cake, a mini quiche and a cookie and I had some sticker shock for sure. When the cookie was rung up and it said $5, I thought that was the mini quiche and cookie added up together. So that day I spent $51 and when I was leaving, I asked if there was a bag to put the cake in. The only bags were the cloth ones, and they were going to charge me. 50c for one when I just spent $51. I had to do a whole separate transaction on EFT-POS just to pay for this. 50c bag. I feel that not only are they a bit overpriced, but they need to use common sense when charging for a bag after someone has spent a certain amount. It's a bit off putting, however I'm sure the lure of their bubka (the best I've ever eaten anywhere) will get me back there eventually down the road.
