Australian Centre for Contemporary Art reviews
18Have seen some good shows previously, this was not one of them. Area is undergoing work and is not inviting. Did not spend long before we left disappointed.
Google said open. The building said open. The sign in the window said shut from the 16th of September for installation however we were visiting on the 12th. Could see people inside that didn’t bother coming to the door to let us know if it was indeed open or not.
Nice and interesting art gallery. Haven’t seen much people coming or going and the place is pretty small. Can see everything in 10-15 mins.
I am not a fan of this style of art.but Yore ticks many currently politically correct boxes so he gets a voice - not available to me. 'Good on 'em!
A lovely little art gallery within the Arts District. A great place to visit in conjunction with the Arts Centre and the National Gallery of Victoria.
A museum that exhibits contemporary art. Free. There was no collection display. There is a cloakroom. A nice staff member took care of my backpack. When I went to see it, the exhibition by Mithu Sen was very impressive. If you're not interested in contemporary art, I don't think there's much point in going there, but I definitely recommend it to art fans.
It’s a museum but unfortunately very small. Therefore, there was only one exhibition. I was hoping to see more.
ACCA is an art gallery specialized on modern arts and located in the South bank. The building itself is piece of impressive architecture and worth going to for people who love good architecture. The exhibition space is not too large but the one I went to see was well curated. The site includes facilities for performing arts: modern dance and The Malthouse theater.
A very interesting and dynamic exhibition currently on show inside. - a beautiful design.
Interesting and free museum.
Highly recommend the first level upstairs. Still Life! Beautiful!
Went yesterday to see Paul Yore's exhibition, great exhibition, love the building with great and informed staff. My first time but won't be my last.
Great current exhibition Paul Yore, Word Made Flesh. Beautifully displayed. Wonderful spaces and great collection. Thank you for bringing this work to Melbourne.
So grateful to have this space in Melbourne. Never fails to provide something of interest and I commend the programmers for their bravery.
Today it was the Paul Yore survey. Amazing work, but also well presented. It didn't feel like it was fighting the venue for space. The commissioned piece is such a good idea - an exclamation point to finish off the journey.
An icon for many reasons. A must see place that has presented local Australian Artists for decades.
It’s original home was at Domain House near the Botanical Gardens. ACCA is synonymous with thought provoking, context driven, aesthetic historical grounding art, art practices and curatorial pre eminence.
PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDER FOR AN ART DAY TOUR.it’s neighbours are both the NGV’s, Margaret Lawrence at the Victorian College of the Arts, Vault ️, and Buxton Contemporary. Go for it
Excellent place for viewing contemporary art, both local and international artists. Not the biggest museum but more quality than quantity and totally free!
I'd been out with big Tony the night before and needed some time to get my head right before afternoon meetings. Turns out ACCA is ideal. Giant beanbags and some compelling video installations. Paired with an icy water and I was soon ready to rumble
Despite the gallery being relatively small compared to the other exhibitions around the area, they have very interesting collections of contemporary arts.
I'm always surprised when friends of mine who live in Melbourne tell me that they've never been to the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. Located just outside the CBD, this free gallery exhibits some really striking and impressive contemporary art, by celebrated artists from around the globe.
