This place is a brilliant find! Excellent service and beautifully crafted things to buy. I highly recommend this shop.

The store I went to is located in the heart of Melbourne CBD in one of its oldest and finest arcades. But even finer and more attractive was the craftsmanship of the bronze and wooden sculptures and figurines made by whole hearted Australians using age-old processes.
If you are fond of good quality handicrafts then this truly a place to visit.
Wish well to the business and it's manufacturers.

I work for an international company and am often asked by colleagues visiting from other parts of the world where they can find genuine, Australian made pieces to take home. Australian by Design is a winner every single time. This beautiful store and gallery in more spacious premises is a bit more challenging to find in its new location, but it's worth it. If you're looking for authentic, high quality Australian arts and crafts, with price points for everyone, this gem is worth seeking out.

Very cool little shop tucked away upstairs. The art here is really authentic. I’ve purchased a hand carved boomerang with beautiful art. I don’t think you can get much better crafted boomerangs by aboriginal artists anywhere else.

Spent some time to find this shop, remember to take the Lift 1 (No. 1) in Block Arcade and press 3rd floor, follow the sign then you will find it.
The owner is very friendly and passionate of explaning different kinds of workpiece and the decoration of the shop, he is also very patient on explaining different wood types among all those pens as well.
By the time I visited, there were not much various types of paintings, but there were many different handiwork such as coasters, earrings, sketches, pens, wood carving etc. I bought a handmade roller ball pen made with red mallee burl wood.
And the prices of those Australian handiwork are cheaper than other shops as it is located upstairs.
Good customer service as well, highly recommend to visit this shop!

We noticed the display case while touring the Block Arcade and made a point to return for a visit to the shop. It was well worth it. Beautiful works of art and unique souvenirs of our trip to Australia. The proprietor was most friendly and helpful tucking in some information on the artist whose work I had purchased. I highly recommend seeking out this shop. You won’t be disappointed!

Wonderful authentic store. Very helpful and committed to supporting Australian artists. High quality pieces, but still a range to choose from depending on your budget. Nice Australian themed blank greeting cards too, largely native flowers. Great for gifts for overseas visitors to remember their time in Australia.

Today I visited Australia by Design and found beautiful hand made scarves and jewelry to give as presents to family when I return back to the USA. The shop is a little hard to find, on the third floor of the Block Arcade. The lift was not working today so I had to climb some pretty hefty stairs to get there, but I am delighted to say that it was well worth the effort. The gifts they sell are truly beautiful, unique and of a very high quality. The shop assistant, Kate, was a great help and even gift wrapped my purchases for me. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for something special to give to friends & family, or to keep for yourself!

Beautiful selection of pieces, from original paintings to glass work to silk scarves to jewelry to amazing woodwork. Super friendly proprietor, no pressure sales. Packed what we bought carefully, and if we'd been at the end of our trip, I'd have been tempted to buy more.
Slightly hidden on the 3rd floor of the arcade, but definitely worth a visit if you're looking for high quality souvenirs or art.

You really have to find this store. Search for it when you're in the Block Arcade.it is situated on the third floor. Take the elevator and enter a world of Australian made exquisite paintings, jewels and art. All at (in my opinion) affordable prices.

Gorgeous pieces to add to a collection or as a solo feature in your home. Wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended to tourists looking for a unique souvenir or to locals wanting to up their decor game.

A great wee shop with very friendly and most helpful staff. Lovely to see gifts and souvenirs that you know are made in Australia. Highly recommended but its tucked away. Floor 3 in the lift opposite Hopetoun Tearoom in the Block Arcade.

Absolutely lovely shop for authentic, hand-made Australian art and gifts. If you are looking for Australian art in general, or a meaningful, hand-crafted souvenir to take back home, this is THE place!

Two small rooms on the 3rd floor. A little difficult to find but well worth the effort for the authentic art and charming staff.

Just happened to see the display/ sign while at The Block Arcade. We went to the 3rd floor and found this wonderful shop carrying only Australian-made items. The proprietor was so very nice and helpful and provided great advice and information on the various items she carried in her store.
I would highly recommend visiting this establishment for any keepsakes that are authentic.

Simply the best if you are looking for Australiana. Lovely art, souvenirs, jewelry and gifts for any budget with none of the cheap dreck in the typical souvenir shops. Everything truly Australian, good quality, and obviously chosen personally with care and attention.
The staff is especially friendly and quick to offer information, recommendations, and a friendly chat.
Be sure not to miss it tucked away upstairs!
