An amazing retailer, they have gear at prices you just cannot get anywhere else. Customer service is great, shipments nearly always sent out same day and delivered through StarTrack the next. Seriously their range is unbeatable, by a long, long, long, long way. Can’t beat ‘em really.

Called up to confirm availability of equipment. Placed order and paid online.
Received a confirmation of shipment and had the goods delivered (to Sydney) in two days from placement of order.

Owner was rude to me on multiple occasions. Sent me a broken synthesizer and has been uncooperative in replacing it to the point where I have had to go through another company. Caused me and the store I ordered through a fair bit of strife. Definitely wouldn't recommend doing business with these guys unless you are prepared to struggle with communication and go through extra hassles.

Purchased AMS Neve 1073 SPX, just the best. These guys have the best gear at fair pricing. Always willing to give their advice, and actually know what they're selling. Needed it ASAP and they took care of it no problem.

Emailed and asked if a product was in stock. Email reply from audio chocolate confirmed it was. Placed an order and payed. Turned out it wasn't in stock. Purchased item 5 months (Nov2020) ago. Was told in Jan 2021 that they'd receive stock on Feb 18 (date is now Mar 13), still no update after emailing them. Have asked for a refund multiple times and received no replies. Terrible service.

I got an email on the 10th November saying my order was complete. I called on the 17th to find out where my product was. I was greeted with "Audio Chocolate. " No, "How can I help you? " or other customer focused language.

I made my enquiry and was answered with "Yeah, mate, I'm with someone right now, can I call you back in half an hour? " I opted to call back when convenient with me, to be greeted again with the same abrupt telephone manner. I was then placed on hold while the individual in question "went back upstairs" to access the computer. This took over five minutes, during which I was subjected to terrible Looney Tunes hold audio (not music, just sounded like some kind of trailer audio). Must be a long staircase!

When I came off hold, the same individual was abrupt, to the point of rudeness, and actually interrupted me on several occasions before I even managed to get more an one word out. He then told me he would have to either phone or email me back.

I finally received an email late that afternoon that simple said "Just FYI. " and had a shipping notice attachment for that day! No apology for not having shipped my product 7 days prior or any kind of contrition at all.

This was not an item that was not available at retailers I have previously used, however I decided to try Audio Chocolate on this, before potentially spending more money with them. I will not be. In fact I'm inclined to pay MUCH MORE for any equipment I need in future, including importing myself, for anything that is not stocked elsewhere in Australia.

TL;DR
1. Rude and unprofessional telephone manner
2. Can't seem to ship on time
3. Obviously focused on making a sale over fixing their mistakes

Avoid. I will never give them another cent.

Very aggressive on the phone, even before rudely asking “what exactly is my question? ”, to which I then responded “Why are you ripping off Australian’s with the VSX product? ”and he hung up. After calling back the same person on the phone he couldn’t explain (his best explanation amounted to $800-820 max, instead of their advertised price of $899 [advertised for $479.99 US on Steven Slate website]) why Audio chocolate is overcharging for VSX Steven Slate headphones in Australia according to his estimates over the phone. Based on his information I think Audio chocolate are taking advantage of Australians instead of trying to be competitive (which Steven Slate products usually are). I think Steven Slate should reconsider continuing to use this distributor.
