At the Heads

Perfect spot for an early dinner! Food was very good and service was great. I had the Market fish (Barramundi) which was interesting as it had a sauce that was saffron yellow but tasted more like mustard, very flaky and perfectly cooked, light and creamy. I had a taste of the house made linguine which was a bit dense/hard for my taste as I would prefer my pasta cooked all the way.
The fish (flathead) and chips from the kid’s menu was a great hit as my picky-eater boys love it; very fresh and the fries were the best. They also gave coloring books with stickers to my boys that kept them busy for awhile
For dessert I had the Goat’s Curd which was absolutely divine, I LOVED it and highly recommend it.
We went back there again and I really enjoyed the Grilled Octopus dish and the kids Fish and chips and kids pasta were both good.
The place is beautiful but a bit too loud as the noise bounced around and made it annoying as you can hear in the video I posted.

Beer battered fish and chips were over cooked and chips were average. My friend had fish of the day, barramundi, and said it tasted fishy thus meaning not fresh fish. It was muggy and there were no ceiling fans on and when they turned the reverse cycle on it was on heater not air conditioning! I had to let them know and all they did was turn it off. I’ve had great meals here before but this was just terrible.

Superb waterfront location. The team are welcoming and attentive, the food is modern, fresh and tasty, and the drinks offer something for everyone. You can hit this spot after the beach for a cold beer or a cocktail and a snack, or you can have the full-blown dining experience at lunch or dinner. It’s all exceptional value in a world class location. They have a great space for functions and I’m told that the whole venue is being upgraded with a renovation shortly. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. This is a definite “must do” stop when heading to the Barwon Coast or Surf Coast. I recommend.

Great location. River and ocean views. Watch fisherman from the outside seating along with seagulls trying to steal their bait. Accommodate dogs in the outside seating. Great coffee and food. Thank goodness they are open. Very good to finish off here after a walk around Barton heads bluff and 13th beach.

Very disappointing and inflexible booking service. We are a group of 12 and totally understand that for such a group to be seated on one table, we would need to go on a set menu. Our group do not enjoy set menus - preferring to individually order due to varying tastes and food preferences. Given this we offered to book two separate tables, order separately, pay separately, even stagger the time we arrive per booking; our only request being our tables be located in close proximity…… but this was too difficult…. Still struggling to understand why this request could not be accommodated by a venue that apparently can accommodate up to 300 seated guests? Why was our request so unreasonable? Please help me to understand….

I would have preferred to have attended and rated you on your food, however, I can now only rate you on your inflexible booking service… where a request to have two tables located in close proximity is so difficult to accommodate according to Jak….

I was just about to make a booking for a largish (about 15 people) group to celebrate a special milestone birthday, however after reading previous reviews regarding inflexibility to do so, have decided to take my business elsewhere. Lockdowns and restrictions have obviously not impacted this venue as it has the majority of the hospitality industry as they seem to be able, and quite comfortable, to be able to afford to lose business. Shame.

We were married here just over a week ago and had the most amazing day! The staff, service, food, drinks and atmosphere was absolutely perfect! We had the most amazing day as well as loved the planning process with Zoe. Thanks Team! Xo

Great location! Food was amazing and very fresh. The cocktail menu is very good. Make sure you book in advance to not be disappointed. I highly recommend it!

We just had our wedding at At the Heads and we could not have been happier with Zoe, Maddy and all the staff members who have given us just the most gorgeous ceremony and reception. Everything looked absolutely beautiful on the day, and Zoe and all the staff who were there were just soooo helpful and switched on! Our guests had full drinks at all times, the food was DELICIOUS and everything ran smoothly. We had a cocktail hour too and the drinks were so good. Also, our guests who had dietary restrictions came to us to say how good their food selection was and that it was the first wedding they went to where they ate heaps! The lead up to the wedding day was always a pleasure with Zoe. She was flexible and accomodating of our needs, and always keen to help when we needed something - we could tell she genuinely just wanted us to have the day just how we imagined it! Her relaxed vibe kept me calm during the whole process. The staff set up everything on the day so we had zero worries, and a staff member was able to do a live transmission to our international guests which was so helpful. 10/10 and so thrilled we can go there every year to celebrate our anniversary!

Nice view but we found it quite expensive for serving average fast food meals. I would not recommend it for dinner or lunch

I visit this restaurant first time snd its was amazing? I happy to choose this place for our anniversary, was very tasty, specially i love entre was so intrestingmany different dishes, its was a lot of food. We took set menu and its was nice experimentAlso very friendly stuffThank you, we will come back

Great location with a view….

Sit back and enjoy the seaside (river view) while relaxing with your group. Small kiosk available for takeaway also available in-the mornings. Get your quick coffee and pastry before or after your beach walks.

The other options around the area are a couple of cafes a short walk away hitch are usually busy busy in the summer. The pub is also around the corner.

Such a beautiful venue! Super refresh, even inside of the restaurant and the food is super!
We had the seafood platter, cooked potatoes and the tomato salad, such great flavours and portions! Ideal for two of us.
The vanilla passion fruit cocktails was the start of the day!
I just think the customer service should be improved. Even ordering through the site, the staff don’t take care of cleanliness of the tables - it took ages to someone pick up our empty plates which was already stacked by us in the corner of the table…

We came here for my birthday dinner on Friday last week and we had the most wonderful food, drinks and experience! It’s a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. AND you don’t leave still hungry! Thank you so much for a lovely birthday dining experience

This restuarant is a must visit destination if you are visiting geelong. The food pairings and presentation is second to the view of the beach.

The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was high quality and fresh seafood. Its not often that all my friends are fully satisfied with their meals but I think At the Heads is an exception to that rule.

Really terrible service for our family meal. Waited 60 minutes for the starters to come, 90 minutes for main courses.
After ordering our food, 45 mins later, our waiter proceeded to tell us that he’d forgot to put our order through to the kitchen.
The fish ordered was crispy and burnt.

I would avoid this place at all costs.

NYE @ At The Heads

We attended New Years Eve event hosted At The Heads. We arrived just after 7: 30pm, there was a line for the bar, they were having some issues with the tap beer, that was fixed about 30 minutes later and the bar staff were all over it catering for a 200 person event.

Food was delicious, views are incredible, staff were friendly and professional.

We can't wait to return next year!

I had a super awesome experience with At The Heads events for our wedding which we navigated and postponed throughout covid! Maddy and her team are amazing and I couldn’t recommend them enough for your big day or event!

We really loved it here. A friend of ours got married here years ago and we thought we would return. Firstly the views are exceptional. We had two entrees the tuna tataki and carpaccio. Two of my fave dishes if I go to any restaurant. They did both really well. Really enjoyed these dishes. The steak was great and the side dishes. I had the linguini with clam and prawns. That was an average dish would not order that again. Our service was impeccable. Our waitress Makala was on her last shift. She was endearing & funny. We wish her all the best completing her nursing degree. Highly recommend this restaurant. Def need to book first
