Astee Asian Supermarket Waverley Gardens

I came to the shop today to buy 500g Singapore steamed noodles (vegan). My daughter has an egg allergy and it’s very hard to find non-egg noodles. All of 500g Singapore steamed noodles have a “best before” of 1st October 2023. Today is 7th October 2023. I went through about 10 packets that were there on display and all of them were way past the “best before” date. I explained to the cashier that they were all past the best before date and as a result I had to buy the larger 1kg packet (double the price and way more than I needed), and asked if I could pay for the price of the 500g packet but she steadfastly refused. Very disappointed. I hope they have been removed from the shelves and no poor person goes home and cooks it for their kids and have their kids get sick. Won’t be going back for sure!

I love browsing all the options here. Not too many well stocked Asian supermarkets in my area so I find myself buying more than planned when I visit Astee. Especially love their tea/hot drink section as well as frozen items. Also noticed there was a good range of DIY dessert (tapioca, jelly etc) & bubble tea here too if you're into that.

Horrible service.
I don't normally leave reviews but the attitude of the saleslady was horrible and ruined my day.

She already showed impatience while packing my purchase. While I was trying to pay with Tap & Go, I tapped the wrong place (some POS's sensor locate at the front and some locate in the middle). I immediately corrected it and she still showed annoyance. That's fine I thought maybe she was in a bad mood.

Then, after I finished paying, I discussed with my husband if the total amount charged was correct. She was already serving another client, and all of a sudden she looked and yelled at me "YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO TAP A CARD? ".

Manage your employee. No customers deserve to be insulted.

It will have most of the Asian goods that you are looking for but it sometimes runs out of stock of items for days at a time

What a place to shop. Frozen custard buns, tapioca pearls for bubble tea. So many items available which you can't find in other Asian stores

A good variety of fresh and packaged Asian groceries. I was able to find ingredients that were hard to come by elsewhere.

Great little shop, always stocked with what i need. Staff dont talk much when serving and give a cold and unfriendly vibe

I usually love shopping at Astee Waverley Gardens until yesterday 3/12/21 around 6pm, a counter checkout staff came without inform customers and turned off the freezer lights while I was still choosing which ice cream to get and I saw she also pulled down the fridge curtains at the other aisle stopping other customers to continue shopping. In my opinion, the staff should inform the customers the shop will close in 5 mins or so instead of turning of the light and pulling down the fridge curtains, so unprofessional and rude to customer. The manager at the store usually very friendly, I feel pity that they have this kind of staff to ruin their store reputation. Hope that this staff who worked on 3/12/21 pm time will somehow improves her customer service skills.

Good varieties of asian groceries for the locals who don't need to travel further away to get asian groceries.

The grocery prices are higher than Glen Waverley or Springvale in the nearby suburbs. However, for convenience, we shop here.

It stocks a large range of Asian groceries, and vegetables. The store is clean and bright. When it clears its old stock, especially those close to Best Used or Used By Date, I am there!

An old man used to work in the meat section. He recommended us to buy a certain cut of meat for Chinese BBQ roast pork (char siew). However, he has left, The meat section is small and the butcher within the same shopping centre does give it a good run for money since it changed hands no longer ago.

Very helpful staff and good prices. Well worth a visit for a wide range of authentic spice blends.

Loved this shop, we have been wanting to try Korean dishes but you have all the ingredients to make it all.in one store.

Large variety of Asian food stuff including drinks, snacks, Asian spices, noodles etc. Nice, clean and spacious. They also have a Chinese butcher inside the shop. Prices are so, so. Not as cheap as Springvale but not that expensive either. They accept CC which is quite convenient. I would recommend this place if you live nearby.

Convenient while at Gardens shopping. Don't have to dash to Springvale for the odds and ends Asian.
