Ascot Vale Health Group reviews
15Consistently great service and caring staff. Often will be scheduled a telehealth appointment (when appropriate) which is very convenient. GPs are knowledgeable and attentive. Admin will always offer alternatives if GP is not available. They do their best to help.
It is compulsory to wear a mask in the waiting room, however there are no masks provided. Staff are charging $1 for a surgical mask. This is completely exploitative and inappropriate in a healthcare setting.
I would have otherwise rated this practice 5 stars because my GP here is fantastic.
Disappointed.
After having a terrible experience at an adjacent clinic I decided to give these guys a go
the receptionists were really nice and the GP I saw, Dr. Nguyen, was absolutely fantastic. Very kind with a good attitude, and most importantly efficient and helped both me and my partner with our issues.so glad to have found a good bulk billing clinic in the area!
EDIT: unfortunately, I have to edit this review, since now the clinic has gone private and incurs fees.now I have to find a new clinic, which for me is really annoying since I have trauma related to doctors and had finally found one that I was comfortable with.healthcare should be accessible to all.
I moved to this clinic after being very disappointed by my last doctors. From the start it was amazing. The staff are friendly and welcoming (and remember me!). The doctors I've seen are all outstanding and offer comprehensive care even if you're seeing them as a one off. Dr Jemma is the best GP I've ever seen and Dr Huy is a close follow up, but all of them are supportive, caring, and offer education. The nursing staff are also very friendly, helpful, and gentle!
I've had to wait a bit sometimes, but nothing out of the ordinary for doctors, and I'm given an explanation if the doctor is running really late.
After spending years being interrogated by doctors for the level of care I need, it is very refreshing to be at a clinic that cares about you more than ticking boxes and seeing numbers.
After speaking with reception and telling them my 2 year old daughter has a cough, even though the rat test result was negative, we were still told to wait outside in the cold (even after I informed them that we have no car and would be getting a cab) you would think that they would at least make some sort of an effort to not have us waiting outside for so long especially when my daughter is already unwell.
All staff (nurses, doctors and receptionists) are so friendly and genuinely care for all patients. I can highly recommend this clinic.
Due to an injury, I've visited the clinic multiple times a week for over a month. Generally, I got to go in at the scheduled time. Only occasionally I have had to wait a bit longer, especially when it was busy due to high demand for vaccine shots.
While I can understand it's not nice to have to wait for your turn, I can only appreciate the doctors and nurses taking their time to give everyone the time, attention and care they require and not rushing through it.

Called up to organise an appointment for a chest infection, armed with a negative covid test. Despite this, apparently no one with cold/flu symptoms is allowed in the clinic. So, Telehealth. But they don’t provide Telehealth appointments to anyone who hasn’t visited the clinic in the previous 12 months, and as I’ve just moved to the area I don’t qualify. Apparently this is a Medicare requirement. I haven’t been to any doctor in the last 12 months because, sue me, I haven’t been sick. There’s also been this global health crisis deterring unnecessary appointments.
So, instead of making an exception, or trying to help find a different solution, or god forbid even displaying even an ounce of empathy, I got told they they needed to take other calls. To the question “How am I supposed to get medical treatment? ” I got the response “I don’t know, I need to take other calls now. ”
I understand my particular predicament is not this clinic’s fault, but they showed no sign of trying to help, understand, or care. I guess I’ll just have to wait until I’m not sick to go and have a paid-conversation with a GP, so that when I am sick I can actually receive help. As for this chest infection, I guess I’ll just wait it out - it’s not like difficulty breathing is that much of a concern, even for someone with a history of both asthma and anxiety. Thanks for nothing.
Constantly running at least an hour behind schedule, and Dr Watson was so determined to refer me elsewhere so she could get out of doing her job she refused to even listen to what my symptoms were
Has been my family GP clinic for years. I bring my three young children here when required. All staff and doctors treat everybody with the utmost care, compassion, respect and professionalism with what they do.
This place is racist, i waited for an hour and they let one woman in just after she waited for 10 minutes, even after i went to the reception asked why it was so delayed, she gave ma bad attitude, and i left that place without seeing the doctor.
My Dad's swore by this Clinic my whole life. I never wanted to try it because of the tiny fee they charge (Uni Student) but I was pleasantly surprised when I did.
If you want a Doctor who'd thorough and genuinely considers what you have to say, explains their reasoning behind their suggestions (as opposed to being given a script and sent on my way) and who treat their patients with complete respect - seriously, this is the place.
I've never been made to feel like times an issue, or been spoken to in a condescending manner. Tbh. I didn't even know I had been, until I met these guys.
I've only ever had wonderful caring service here and am surprised about the ratings. I've seen Dr Gina Smith and Dr Michael Skehan and both were two of the most patient doctors I've been to. The Receptionists were also very friendly. So far, I have not had to wait long.
An hour wait for a pre-booked appointment at 11am in the morning. Reception staff not professional. Will not be back.
Saw Dr Peter Unger and he was knowledgeable and courteous. Receptionist was friendly. It's not bulk billed and you get rebate from Medicare later which is a bit inconvenience and more costly than bulk-billed ones but you get what you pay if you can afford it.
