Arthouse Direct

I am a newbie "wannabe artist" who knows little and needed advice. I also have mobility issues. I was not made to feel very welcome and when I asked about origami paper, the staff member pointed over to the side wall and said the paper was "over there. " I tried to find it on my own and with the walker I was using I couldn't get to the spot she meant and apparently that was annoying as the person had to come and help. Oh well there goes any future purchases from me.

I cannot fault the staff. They are very helpful, and they stock a good range of products, but unfortunately their prices are absolutely outrageous. I only purchase art supplies I urgently need from them.
*Edited from here onwards as I was asked by the owner to remove my comparison prices with another store. I understand that they are trying to run a business, but suffice it to say that if I can purchase 3 products elsewhere for the same amount that I paid for 2 idential products at Arthouse Direct, then perhaps Arthouse Direct needs to review what they are charging their customers.

I CANNOT go to Bendigo without being enticed into the land where art supplies surround you. Love it

A very wide range of products in a super central location. My enquiry probably wasnt a standard one and the help i received was amazing. Very friendly staff and they will likely have what you need in art supplies. I will certainly be going back (i am nearly out of ink already). Thanks

Unfortunately I'm having to update my review from 5/5 to 2/5, if I could give 1.5 I would.
The last few times I've been to art house I've left feeling like the experience should've been better, I'm never given any assistance or asked what I'm after, when I've been wandering the store for upwards of 10-15 minutes.
If I'm after something I'm told that's not available even though the website has it or I'm not even offered to see what they can order in.
I have money to spend on good quality art products for my business but the attitude and feeling I get makes me feel like I'm not worth their time, they're not going to help me and my money isn't wanted.
When Emily was there I was greeted by name and she would help me, answer questions and have a conversation. Now I don't get that and it's disappointing.

Great range of art supplies, everything from painting and drawing to model making. If you are looking for high quality products and a diverse range, this is a great place to shop.

Large supply. Friendly helpful staff. Personally I felt it was a little on the expensive side, however, I understand they need to cover overhead costs. It saves a trip down to Melbourne to get supplies.

The lady in the shop might like art supplies, but she certainly doesn't like people! My mum and I went in today, all inspired from the Art Gallery and could have easily spent hundreds of dollars had the service been even remotely pleasant. But instead, she was rude, cold, unhelpful and belittling. We felt anxious the entire time and rushed our purchases just so we could leave her in peace (sorry to have come into your shop and bought supplies from you - how inconsiderate of us!) Also, thanks for telling us about the 20% off sale, towards the end of our visit.
Obviously won't be back and going by the other reviews - she's clearly in the wrong industry.

I was looking for watercolour paper for myself and a friend. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, thank you for your help today ladies!

No respect for customers at all. Worker attempted to push us out of the store and watched us the entire time. Horrible customer service. Do not recommend. No help at all. Horribly rude and no respect

Great little place to stock up on those arty items that you need. Quite a good range and friendly, helpful staff.

A simple call to ask whether the business stocked small hobby brushes, turned sour as the lady who answered had a horrible attitude and was awfully rude.

Visited because a friend I know is an artist & needed some supplies. Seemed ok, but I really don't know 1 Art Supply from another as this isn't a shop I would normally go to.

Prices were acceptable, the service was rather rude and discriminatory though. I will not be returning or purchasing from this business again. They had followed me around the store simply because I was a young POC. I would recommend Riot Art Supplies in the Bendigo marketplace. They have lovely service and staff, great range of products with acceptable prices and is easily accessible.

I went into Arthouse Direct, to get supplies for a new project that I have never attempted before. I got great advice, and there was a variety of choices to choose from, especially due to being budget conscious. There are alot of discount art and craft retail stores available, and they may be cheaper but you will struggle to find the right product with no expert advice. Getting the right advice will save you money everytime. I will definitely go to Arthouse again when I attempt any new project in the future.

The best little art store in Bendigo for more serious artists. An excellent range of products and brands focusing more at the student/professional end of the market. Knowledgeable and very friendly staff, this has become my go-to art supplies store in the city.

Emily was very helpful, nice to find excellent service, with a fantastic range of products. Prices were great, cattering for the beginer and the expert. I will be back!
