Aptus Seafoods reviews
58Fresh seafood. Visited this place three times during my one week visit for fresh oysters and prawns. Will visit again if I visit Melbourne again.
Don't eat at the restaurant near the entrance. This one is cheaper and more delicious. This box is only 12
That store sells it for 20 a box. It’s not fresh and not delicious.
Fortunately, I ended up eating here, otherwise I would have been disappointed and returned.
Absolutely loved the rockling chips and teriyaki salmon skewer.
The whiting fish
flaky and fresh -clean tasting. The batter coating the fish was crispy.
Enjoyable to look at the stalls while order being cooked.
Friendly and patient counter staff.
Had to get fresh oysters when we’re at South Melbourne Market. Oysters were really good and reasonably priced. The plate of cooked King prawns were $9.90. The shared condiments on the table provided were amazing. Such a wide variety of sauces to choose from, including sriracha, sour and spicy seafood sauce, different types of tabasco, and even crispy fried shallots.
Oysters and more oysters. Coffin bay. Sydney rock, bay of fires. Eat there at the high tables with the bustling south Melbourne market crowd all around. A fun experience and must do for Melbourne. They do have lots of other seafood as well but only had oysters. Check em out.
The moray scallops were exceptional, the sirarcha scallops just the right level of spiciness. Very fast service and reasonable pricing for south Melbourne markets.
My happy place. The seafood is amazing and fresh. It has the widest range and great facilities (table with sauces, lemons etc). Just be careful of overcharging. Whether it's by honest mistake (wrong type of oyster), unscrupulousness, or carelessness, be careful before you tap and pay.
Always come to Aptus! For fresh Oyster. Sea urchin so good. Super happy that Aptus have Thai seafood style sauce! Recommended!
You'll find fresh and tantalizing seafood at this place. Don't miss the opportunity to savor a tray of freshly shucked oysters during your visit.
Always good here love them had a Rosé with oysters and Lobster for breakfast this morning lovevit
Super delicious and fresh oysters. And paired with the hot sauce options on the bar. Such a novel and fun experience.
I have always taken my family members to the famous South Melbourne Market for fresh oysters whenever they visit Melbourne, but my recent experience at Aptus Seafood was disappointing. We ordered a variety of oysters, but more than half of them were mushy and had a terrible taste. We thought it might have been a one-time occurrence, but unfortunately, subsequent visits yielded the same disappointing results. It wasn't until we discovered another shop in Queen Victoria Market that served better quality, freshly shucked oysters that we realized how much we had been missing out on. Sadly, due to this experience, I don't think I will be returning to South Melbourne Market for oyster shots again.
Recommended if you want to eat fresh seafoods from scallops till crab! They also provide several sauces and lemon to enjoy your dishes
I've been going here for the oysters and premium seafood for years, but thing are seemingly becoming more pricey (post-covid and the place being more touristy)
The lobster taco looked good, so I ordered one. Turns out there were 2 small pieces of the lobster, each the size of my smallest finger nails. At $11.99 a taco, it's a rip-off as most of the taco is just the shell with a little bit of salad and tiny splash of sriracha mayo. Salt and pepper calamari tough as rubber. Only thing they got ok is the chips. $25.97 for only 1 item "ok" is really not worth it.
On top of that, I also found out they charged me a sneaky $1 above the total bill. VERY DISHONEST! You have lost a potential customer!
I would give Aptus a 0 star or -1 if I could. 0 for the food and -1 for the dishonest act. I just read this dishonesty isn't something new at Aptus, as often they sneakily put an extra 1 or 2 dollars on your credit card!
Fresh shucked oysters so fresh. Ordered 2 kinds of oysters both from Tasmania. So creamy, yum and fresh.
They ran out of blue grenadier for fish and chips, and the gummy fish option they had was dry for our taste
Chips are rly crunchy tho, with semi-generous amounts of salt
We also had the raw oysters and they were good
They had Tabasco, vinegar, soy sauce at the eating table around the corner
But just plain lemon juice for me was good enough too
DO NOT BUY OYSTERS. Have been going there for years to buy seafood. Went there just before new year’s eve this year, got a dozen of oysters and some other seafood. Most of the oysters were dead and mushy with weird taste and discoloured that I had to spat them out, only 2 were edible. Staff who was helping me was quite impatient and did not look like he wanted to help. Very disappointed.
Listen up people, this place has excellent range of fresh fish. We drive 30 minutes to enjoy freshly shocked Oysters and freshly prepared sushi and sashimi. Without a doubt 10/10. See my photos
Average. Very disappointing. Scallop sashimi were decent, kingfish sashimi cut way too thin, Boomer Bay oysters have no flavour, biggest scam is the half lobster for $30, few lobster pieces on top of boring mayo mash potatoes from the 80’s
