Apollo Bay Backpackers reviews
13Had a chill, easy one night stay at Apollo Bay Backpackers. Wasn’t too busy of a hostel - rooms, kitchen and bathrooms were all very tidy and comfortable to be in. We were confused to see many negative reviews but they were from a very long time ago. Management/ownership must have changed because everything was in order and very well maintained! Would highly recommend, Quinn is very helpful and accommodating!
Overall good value for money, but some improvement suggestions for the rooms:
There were no sockets, only 4 lockers, hand-built therefore interestingly sized beds, very noisy, no bug screens.
Stayed here for 2 nights and it was great! Me and my partner stayed in our camper van but payed to use the facilities, which are basic but all clean tidy and in working condition. We paid 25 bucks a night and it’s what I was expecting from a hostel experience, affordable living! Great host who was knowledgeable of the area, would recommend a stop on your great ocean road trip!
One of the best stays I had in Australia! The hostel is small but really comfortable, has wifi, good showers and everything you need, even an oven. The owner Quinn is one of the kindest and coolest guys I‘ve met in this country. Definitely recommend doing the kayaking tour as well, where you paddle right next to a lot of seals.
The owner was very friendly and welcoming, the kitchen was clean and the rooms tidy. The price is not the cheapest and it has no heater but overall it was a great stay that i can recommend to everyone who wants to travel to Apollo Bay
Loved this stay. Common areas are always clean and comfortable. Quinn is so accommodating for anything you need, definitely ask him about the glow work tour!
Looking forward to staying again.
Quinn, who ownes the place is a super cool and friendly guy. We played card games together and had a really good time.
The hostel is really cozy and clean and a really fun atmosphere. Can highly recommend!
Quinn, made us welcome.clean and tidy.close to everything you need, although it's a quiet place, to chill out.
Very clean and welcoming hostel. 5 minute walk from the main strip. Lovely stop and would have changed my plans and stayed a second night if I could have. I’d highly recommend Apollo bay in general as well if you’re deciding which town to stay in on your Great Ocean RoadTrip
Really chill hostel! The owner Quinn is an awesome dude and knows a lot about the area. Very clean and well equipped. There’s also koalas in the area (and their back garden sometimes) :)
We stop there the 19th jan with a group of 5 friends. If you have the choice to stay somewhere else, do it. It's basicaly an old bengalow in the middle of an not maintained grass area. At least the provided bed sheets was clean. We was very disapointed that the person in charge of the hostel was not wake up even at 8: 30 am! Even if it is clearly stated that the breakfast is included there was NO BREAKFAST at all! This is basicaly a fraud because you lie to the customer. And nobody to complain because nobody awake in this place even after 8: 30 am! For the same price you can find waaayyyyy better place where they take care of the customer.
Cold shower all day long. Dirty and chaotic.
I do not suggest any backpacker to go there. For the same price you can definitely find something else.
This was the most terrible hostel we stayed in Australia. We booked a room for 3 in a 5-bed room and they splitted our group and put us in separate rooms. Additionally, they put all of us in a 6-bed bedrooms with bad conditions in an improvising bedroom in the back of the garage. The bathroom definitely was not clean and there were sinks and taps broken in the bathroom. The living area was disgusting with pigeons poo on the corners and cigarettes butt on the main table. It was almost a nightmare. You can see some pictures attached.
