Altona Pines Take Away reviews
61What a disappointment. Ordered $4 chips and I received this telescopic amount of chips. Asked for some Lemon and received paper thin slices. Greedy overpriced fish and chips. Not to forget how expensive and oily everything was. Would not recommend. Went back and complained and the worker there told me “that’s how much you get, what do you think? ”
The food is s bit dry and the chips dont have any chicken salt or that fish and chips salt
Ordered then went and got drinks and came back. They forgot about our order. Didn't even start it. Staff have an attitude. Clearly they don't want to be here
Excellent fish and cheaps. Food tasted fresh. Worth the wait. Not much space to dine in, but plenty of park land next door and across the road. Free parking out front can be hard to find during peak hours. Worth a visit.
It was close to the beach so we had lunch here. Definitely do not recommend. It was expensive, which is fine. I understand that costs have gone up. Potato Cakes had a horrible flavour and same with the Dim Sims. The chips were the only thing we ate.
Food was great. Could not fault the fish - we had blue grenadier. Chips were excellent.
There was a wait of course. It’s peak time of summer, but I didn’t think 35 minutes was extreme. Prices were good too, we pay the same up in central Victoria.
Order just chips, and they were delicious. Definitely go back and order.
Also you can go to the beach or playground to enjoy them.
The prices are freaking ridiculous $9 for a flake you have got to be kidding me for a family of 7 this place is unaffordable
The worst lamb kebab in Melbourne. Very little meat with too much lettuce & tomato. The last 1/3 of kebab had 1 small cube of lamb. Way over priced.
Would never go back or recommend.
Very slow service, They won’t advise customer how much time would be taken for preparing and customers need to wait for long time.
Chips were chunky and evenly cooked. We also ordered 2 blue grenadier fish fillets. The fillets were fresh, but the portions served were quite small and expensive.
The best fish and chips i have ever tasted in altonaa. You can tell they are freshly made! Yum yum yumm coming here eveyday i come to altona. Very welcoming I enjoyed my experience
I strongly would not recommend anyone to buy from this place. The food is cold and is not even salted. I waited for food for more than one hour and a half and I received cold. I payed 35 for only small amount of fish and chips. Is absolutely a rip off. There is not even lemon for the small piece of fish
A welcoming environment with killer kebabs, fish and chips, and the classic dim sim/potato cake combo. A massive thank you to the staff. Support small business!
Ordered flake, potato cake, seafood stick, chicken burger and chips during the Sunday lunch time rush. Customer service was ok and prices were reasonable.
Food was ready within ten minutes which was surprising given that it was very busy.
All the food was up to standard, no complaints. The chips tasted great, not like a 'solid potato' taste that some other shops have with their chips.
My only complaint was that for $5 minimum chips, the portion was quite small. However, I would still come back in the future and recommend this shop!
Food is ok. Prices are a bit higher than other fish and chip places. Very popular with lots of foot traffic.
Visited this place at 12: 20pm on the 13/2/2022.
Had a lovely picnic spoilt by a below par serve of Fish and Chips from this place.
My Flake was served burnt and dry 0/5. Disgraceful!
Chips were over cooked to the point where most were inedible. 2/5.
The Potato Cakes were half of a normal size serve. I ordered 2 and for $1.50 each this looked like penny pinching. 0/5.one would think at that size three Potato Cakes we be the go.
I didn’t have anything else thank God. Also whilst l was waiting for my order lots of burnt Flake were being sent out.
If l could have given 0 stars out of 5, l would have.
Also staff preparing the food we’re not wearing face masks.
Going by the reviews 3.3 this place seems to be hit and miss.
I should have read the reviews before l went in.
Buyer beware!
We had this on Friday night.
Chips were delicious, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside
Potato cakes were yummy
Chicken souvalaki very tasty
Grilled flake - a little bit dry but still edible
Could do with a little less salt
No burnt taste or old oil taste and I am extremely fussy with that.
Definitely would have this again
Old oil used, I legit vomited an hour after consuming the (neon yellow) chips and fish; but that’s my fault for taking a risk with fried food with an easily upset stomach. Stingy, yeah the $1.50 on the sauces may be justifiable, but cmon, they didn’t even spare salt - could hardly taste anything apart from the old oil.
I visited Altona pines on a Monday when Harrington Square fish and chips was closed. What a disgusting experience in comparison, next time I’ll trust my instinct and find something different to eat.
Walking into this shop I should have known the level of quality I would be receiving. No workers wearing masks, yelling at each other through the store and spitting over the orders they were wrapping. One staff member was wiping the vents above the oil vats while orders were cooking. I could see chunks of grime and dust falling off the vents right into the oil their orders were cooking in. The place smelt like burnt batter, and staff were dropping the “C bomb” quite liberally to each other.
I ordered 1 fried fish, 3 potato cakes and minimum chips. When I politely asked if my order was put through (people who had ordered after me with much larger meals had already left with theirs - and I had been waiting 40 minutes when I was told it would be 10) the man working behind the counter death starred me, wrapped my order and threw it up the counter away from where I was standing and gestured towards it without saying a word as if to say “there it is”.
To top everything off my order was DISGUSTAN. Potato cakes burnt and everything dripping in in oil (which tasted like it hasn’t been changed since the early 2000’s) the fish was dry and metallic tasting.
