Unfortunately, the quality of repairs here has dropped considerably since I first started visiting this business, several years ago. I had a favourite shirt repaired at A. N and within a week it came apart again due to shoddy work. So, I tried an alterations store in Toorak near our Melbourne office and wow.a huge difference in the quality of repair; neater, more carefully sown and far more durable too. I tried again with two pair of cargo pants at A. N.and yes, the same dilema. So again, I tried the Toorak option and sure enough.a billiant result for the same price A. N charged me. I wish I could give more than just two stars. I would love to support a decent local business. But the truth be known, these days their repairs are probably not even as convincing as my own needle and thread attempts at home.

Took an expensive dress in to be altered, just a simple “make the back an even length with the front”

Got the dress back and the back is a good 5cm shorter in the back than it is the front, completely ruining a brand new dress.

When we went to pick up the dress, and pay for the job - they don’t have eftpos facilities, and the lady was very very rude about letting us know this.

When contacted to let them know they ruined the dress (in a very polite manner despite the poor workmanship and customer care) the first response was a borderline facetious “oh that’s unfortunate”. Cant talk to management as apparently they’re out of the country.

An all round terrible experience so far. Will update once I’ve managed to get in touch with management and organise a refund for the alterations and the full retail price of the dress.

Absolutely disgraceful. Waited 15 minutes after stated opening time for them to arrive. No show. Called the phone number 3 times no response. Came back an hour later still shut.
Gave up and went to Aiman in Geelong. Great service, great job. Worth driving a little further.

Perfect service, same day shortening is a life saver and lovely tailors, they are quick and efficient in customer service and end result of my clothes are always unnoticeable but help my clothes become so flattering, i have been coming for years and is my favourite small business:)

Great customer service they were quick and efficient in booking and preparing the garment, offered same day service for a couple extra dollars and had a perfect finish to make clothes wearable now that we can go out.
I will be coming back with all my online purchases that never fit, but these tailors always find a way to make my clothes wearable and offer the best for their professional service in tough times.

Absolutely terrible customer service, I went to pick up my alterations at 10 (the sign on the door said "back at 10") I and a few others waited 15 minutes later and still no one arrived to open the shop, so I left. I went in today to collect my items & the lady had told me that they actually couldn't alter one of my items and so it was never done, they never advised me of this - a waste of my time, I could have gone else where. A different lady that I spoke to to pay for my items when I dropped them off said I was paying for a total of the 2 items, however, when I got there and asked if I could have a refund on the money spent for the item they could not do, she said that I had only paid for one in the first place - a lie and a scam if you ask me! The lady I spoke with today was absolutely so rude and basically spoke to me with her back turned completely, her last words as I walked out were "if we can't do what you want, don't come back" - keep in mind I had been nothing but polite the entire time despite her service and lack of communication with me. Not to mention the alteration job is shocking, I may as well as sewn these myself. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! Overpriced for the service and quality - cost me $45 to get my pants slightly altered, a job that I have had done at other places that cost me $25 max usually!

Over paid to get a couch cushion fixed, they didn’t call me when it was ready and rudely told me it had been ready for 2 weeks!? And when I got home and put it on it was such poor quality it ripped again. Waste of 60$.

Paid $30 to get some repairs done to my pants, looks like an eight year old has done the work. Also took a week to do. Definitely don't come here.

One star is being generous. Firstly, the lady at the counter had no idea on what I needed done, I just needed a jean button replaced, thats all (I gave them them the button and everything). She said it could be done in 2 days not the same day, which is what they are advertising. Anyways, 5 days later, I went in to collect them as they were finally done. They used a different button that was not similar in anyway and did not advise me before they did this. They could see I was unhappy with what they had done and still took my money with no apology.

Will alter clothes as they see fit. Wont bother advising you if they won’t be able to meet your expectations. When you complain (to the owner face to face) she will advise you put your complaint in writing. Once she is done talking with you will threaten to call security if you don’t leave. Very rude.

This review is almost two months overdue, and I hardly ever give reviews but I've had multiple interactions with this same individual over years and I'd like to finally have my say on it.
I'd like to give this place a 1 star but I acknowledge that the alterations done was adequate - it met my needs. However, my 1 star review is purely on customer service alone. I have gone to this alteration place 3 times. Once in 2014 for my wedding, another time in 2019 for my little sister's wedding and most recently around December 2020. My first two occasions with her I was desperate, the occasions were weddings, and I needed the alterations done, so I put up with her rudeness - for my sister's wedding the lady doing the alterations was pregnant at the time and training someone too, so I pegged it down to pregnancy hormones and probably stresses from training (I've been pregnant before so I feel like I can make this assumption regarding pregnancy hormones) - and like I said, I'm not criticising her work.
With my latest incidence with her in 2020, I went close to 1pm together with my sister in law. That same lady, turned up 20 minutes late to open her shop and by then there were four of us waiting. When she got there, she greeted us (myself and my sister in law), asked how she could help so I greeted her back and I proceeded to explain that I didn't need anything altered but was wondering if she could assist me by providing measurements for my sister in law and before I could offer to pay for her services she cut me off midsentence and pronounced that she was not a tailor she was a seamstress or something like that. From her tone I gathered that she got asked this question a lot and she went quickly from greeting me hello to just plain rude. I also didn't know what the difference was between a seamstress and a tailor as this was not an area I was familiar with but I took from her response and tone that her mentioning another profession meant she didn't offer such services. And I was left feeling kind of defeated because I didn't know where else to go so I asked her if she could make a recommendation and she responded, 'Honestly, I think the closest place is Melbourne' to which I felt skeptical with because it just felt like a response she gave me to just hurry me along my way. I thanked her for her time but she continued in her rude fashion to just ignore me and greeted the next customer in line as if I wasted her time.
So that last interaction I didn't use her services but the previous too, I did and she was rude on all occasions.
Thus my 2 star rating. I won't ever be using her services in future which is something I accept in posting this review - and I can't in good conscience recommend her services because I'd rather pay for decent treatment and adequate services elsewhere. In fact, I think I would rather go all the way to Melbourne.

Horrible service and even horrible owner. If your into poorly fixed clothes and a rude manger then this is the place to go. Not only was mean
To the poor lady that she was training but she was even rude to a paying customer. I will not be back.

Thank you so much, you created a dress wearable rather than it sit in my closet.
And a beautiful scarf from the off cut too. Your advise on how my dress would sit with my varying ideas was very much appreciated too.
After reading the reviews I was surprised people experience was less than favourable, the lady was quiet and looking at the work load obviously chatting isnt high on her agenda. I wouldn't expect a long conversation but one that is informative and to the point. I guess some peoples perception is quite different from mine.

Have been here well before the trading hours are finished and nobody is here and the store is closed. If you say that you are open until 5: 30pm then be open. Not happy.

Couldn't fault the service or my alteration, the lady did a fantastic job on my pants. I don't think the lady is rude, that's just the way she is. Thank you for fixing my pants, I will use you again in the future

Took my jacket into get fixed. Not only was it not touched after a month. After being told it would be ready in afew days. There was no phone call or anything to explain what the delay was. Ridiculous

So I got my beautiful Katmandu jacket caught on something sharp & it got a small rip in. I was excited to finally get it professionally repaired as let's face it winter isn't being so kind to me, so I was keen to get it fixed asap.
I am absolutely horrified with the terrible patch & stitch job that was done on it, I was under the assumption it would have a dart placed in it! And even if it was stitched the job would be on a professional level not what I can do at home myself.
When I questioned the quality I was abruptly & rudely offered my money back & told the patch would be removed - the damage done with this 'repair' far out ways the initial small tear & now I am stuck with an ugly patch on a $599+ jacket. So upset and feel I have no recourse!

I spoke to my tailor, she said when you dropped it off there was a piece of material missinig from the rip area so they couldn't do take in as a seam and also its close to another seam which is impossible to take in.

She said there was a sticky tape around the rip area and it was explained to you how they would perform the repair.

At this stage if you want me to help you any further you will need to remove all your negative feedbacks and than we can discuss further.

~Sadly due to the severe repair made, the jacket has been ruined further. The tape was there to stop feathers from falling out of the small tear initially. The outcome is for me to take to Kathmandu where they have advised they will need to remove the whole 2 panels on both sides of the jacket. A standard repair costs $65 but due to the nature of the sever repair job I may be forced to pay extra fees on top. I highly doubt at this point you will be helping me out to that degree! And the rudeness of the lady when I questioned her on it, was something I didn't expect at all. From this point the negative feedback stays until I'm shown the consideration, help & decency I deserved as a customer.

~What I can offer you is custom Embroidery Job on top of the rip area to cover that area all together.

I believe the tailor has their job based on what was quoted to you.

Again in good faith I am prepared to do this for you. Something like what I am offering you with custom made logo and digitising is normally $180.00

We will need 5 to 6 days turnaround.

My tailor said you picked up the job, then made a phone call, where she said if you are not happy she will refund you and unpick what they have done. I can't understand which part she was rude.

~Sadly I don't wish to entrust you with my jacket again and would rather take it to Katmandu for repairs at a cost of $65 plus to me! Also very easy to take tone out of a conversation and it completely changes the context, I've expressed how rude she was and it's up to you to take it on board or not.at this point if you are prepared to pay the $65 Katmandu will be charging me to replace front & back panels in jacket, I will kindly remove the negative feedback and this problem can be considered solved.

Worst service, Very disappointing!

I was suppose to collect my son's school blazer on friday.we missed out.we went to the shop the next morning, but there was a note "will be back at 11. " so we waited but was still kept closed with the same sign board. Checked again in the afternoon, was still the same.we tried to call the shop several times since friday but no one picked up.
On Monday Morning I went with my son he had his school uniform on the lady was there at 8.30 am, saw us knocking the door but she neither opened the door nor picked up the call.
Finally, so stubborn, she opened the door at 8.55am and said that she would call the security for disturbing her untime with an incomplete sentence.
I grabed the blazer first and asked her to call the security straight away. I tried to explain her the situation but she was least bothered to hear and don't have any courtesy looking at that primary student during school time. I have never seen such a worst service since I came here.
